There was also the recent employment tribunal that saw a Troon get $40000 because he found he was fired "for no reason". Can't remember the province, might've been Ontario or Alberta. Maybe Manitoba.C-16 is just an addition to the Canadian Human Rights Act that provides the same protections everyone else has in the case of employment, use of services or residential accommodation. That's not really a problem unless you're a business owner, employer or rental management company/home owner which most of us are not. Even in that instance, most HRTs will award judgement to a prosecuting party because they go on nebulous bullshit evidence 100% of the time and it's almost impossible to prove you were fired for having a cut off wang instead of you just being a shithead at your job. Not that a HRT would ever consider your evidence, they've been known to disregard clear evidence to the contrary of discrimination plenty of times. It's not a great thing but it's not all it's cranked up to be.
Any HRT, particularly the Ontario or Quebec HRT, now that's the problem. They very creatively interpret the Canadian Human Rights Act and they have very little oversight, they can fine you upwards to $80,000 dollars for telling a rude joke about a deaf retard boy or teaching very loud and disrespectful lesbians to shut the fuck up during your comedy act. That's a very dangerous game to play with speech rights, it sets a dangerous precedent with the effects being felt decades later in much more discriminatory laws towards speech.
Bill C-16 governs pronouns as well; it's how Jordan Peterson got famous. The Troon Theryn Meyer was also a witness at the hearings.
