U.S. Montana transgender Rep. Zooey Zephyr silenced by state House's Republican speaker
APRIL 21, 2023 / 6:06 AM / AP

Helena, Mont. — Montana's House speaker on Thursday refused to allow a transgender lawmaker to speak about bills on the House floor until she apologizes for saying lawmakers would have "blood on their hands" if they supported a bill to ban gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth, the lawmaker said.

Rep. Zooey Zephyr, who was deliberately misgendered by a conservative group of lawmakers demanding her censure after Tuesday's comments, said she would not apologize, creating a standoff between the first-term state lawmaker and Republican legislative leaders.
That last sentence is hilarious. "Deliberately misgendered". My brain just automatically writes him when I see Zack somewhere, he just looks male. Even if they wouldn't want to "misgender" Zack, there's a big chance this just happened by accident because a normal non pozloaded brain automatically goes to "that's a male" when seeing this fuck.

Zach is learning the awful truth about people who don't misgender to his face, they all still knows hes a man. They still see him as a man, they only use she/her to be nice. The niceties end when it comes to accusing people of having children's blood on their hands. He wants to act "uncivil" during the course of his work day but is oh so offended when its done in return. I guess to him and his ilk, calling him he is more offensive than telling other law makers they are responsible for dead children.

Agreed. I said this before, but considering that these are normie Montana Republicans and not Matt Walsh types, there is a non-zero chance that they simply wrote "he" and forgot to change it.

Which is, of course, even more devastating. "Deliberate" misgendering hurts MtFs a lot less than the reminder that everyone they meet genuinely sees them as male and has to correct themselves to try to be polite.

Damn. Imagine your workplace taking a vote and voting with a 2/3 majority for you to literally shut the fuck up. That has to sting.

An important part of normal adult life is learning to tolerate and act civilly towards people you disagree with. Especially in the professional world. But troons have spent the last half the decade working themselves into a tizzy declaring that anyone who disagrees with them is committing genocide, that violence against their enemies is good actually, that acting civilly = colluding with fascists. And they banned and exiled anyone who disagreed with them.

Now they are seeing what happens when they take that attitude off Reddit and Twitter and back into the real world.

Remember this from a couple months ago?

We have another example of "we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing."

"ST. LOUIS — Washington University says accusations about its youth transgender clinic by an ex-employee are unsubstantiated and that its internal review found the clinic is not violating any policies."

What was the completely BS standard that they used to absolve themselves of wrongdoing?

"The report concluded that no patients at the Transgender Center, which opened in 2017, have experienced adverse reactions to medicalization, and that mental health care has been prioritized."

Wash U. says ex-employee's claims about transgender center in St. Louis are unfounded

Tony thinks it's undemocratic for a body with rules to use those rules? To steal from myself, does he think it's undemocratic for a body to limit the amount of time each speaker may speak? Is it undemocratic for a body to limit speech to only members? Does he think it's undemocratic for a body to end debate and move to a vote?

I'll remember this the next time Tony is demanding people not be allowed to speak.

Also, as I mentioned above, it's not an obscenity law. He thinks every fucking thing is an obscenity law since he learned about Miller lol

CNN interviewed Zac:

Montana state Rep. Zooey Zephyr (D) speaks with CNN’s @jaketapper about her experience after taking a stand against a GOP-backed plan to ban gender-affirming care for transgender children and teenagers. Watch: https://cnn.it/3H7j6zM

Hear from transgender Montana lawmaker silenced by GOP colleagues | CNN Politics (archive)

Edit: Here's a transcript of the (short) live interview in the second half of the clip:
[00:00:00] Jake Tapper: Now the Montana Freedom Caucus is calling for Zephyr’s censure, claiming she tried to shame the legislative body and used inappropriate language. All the while they referred to, uh, the representative by the wrong pronoun. Plus the Republican House speaker has refused to recognize Zephyr on the house floor since Tuesday.

[00:00:18] The Montana Democratic State lawmaker Zooey Zephyr uh, joins us now. Um, your understanding is that rather than a former censure, a formal censure, the Republican Speaker of the house is just gonna continue to refuse to acknowledge you on the house floor for the rest of the session, so you won’t be able to participate in debate on, on any legislation.

[00:00:35] Is, is that right? And how do you plan to work around it?

[00:00:39] Zac Raasch: Speaker Regier has stated that he’s not gonna recognize me on any legislation regardless of topic. And what I will say is, I was elected on behalf of my constituents to come here and debate bills and have the hard discussions, and I will punch in on every bill that my community would want me to speak on.

[00:00:56] Uh, and what the speaker does with that is, uh, up to him.

[00:01:00] Jake Tapper: So let’s talk about, um, what you said, because I, you know, I think the Montana Freedom Caucus is, is correct that you tried to, you tried to shame the legislative body. I’m not judging whether that was right or wrong, but you definitely were. Why do you think it is tantamount, uh, to torture? Uh, why do you think that lawmakers who vote against allowing trans kids or kids who identify as a different gender than the one they were assigned at birth, uh, having puberty blockers, for example, why would that cause there to be blood on their hands?

[00:01:35] Zac Raasch: So I know as a trans person the joy and how we come alive, uh, when we are allowed to transition. And I know the pain that comes with not being able to transition.

[00:01:48] Um, also in terms of blood on their hands. I have lost several trans friends to suicide this year. I have had trans family members tell me or trans, uh, Montanans and pa their parents tell me about suicide attempts in their family, including one trans teenager who attempted to take her life while watching a hearing on one of these anti-trans bills.

[00:02:12] That’s the impact that this legislation has, and that’s why I rose to defend my community and hold the Republicans accountable for their actions.

Best bit for me was when Tapper asked how stopping the prescription of puberty blockers was tantamount to torture, and Zac's answer was:
Zac Raasch said:
So I know as a trans person the joy and how we come alive, uh, when we are allowed to transition. And I know the pain that comes with not being able to transition.
Oh well now I'm convinced!

Plus more suicide baiting. Given what we know about the suggestability of suicide, especially among children, I'd argue that the blood is on Zac's hands.

Him and Tony are doing exactly what suicide-prevention groups say you must not do. Here's some guidance endorsed by organisations which Tony and Zac support, including GLAAD, the Trevor Project, the Transgender Law Centre, PFLAG and the Human Rights Campaign:
suicide.png
DON’T attribute a suicide death to a single factor (such as bullying or discrimination) or say that a specific anti-LGBT law or policy will “cause” suicide. Suicide deaths are almost always the result of multiple overlapping causes, including mental health issues that might not have been recognized or treated. Linking suicide directly to external factors like bullying, discrimination or anti-LGBT laws can normalize suicide by suggesting that it is a natural reaction to such experiences or laws. It can also increase suicide risk by leading at-risk individuals to identify with the experiences of those who have died by suicide.

I gotta give it to Tony, that cspan interview he did was his most professional one yet. Minimal uhs and ums and he didn’t twitch like he was coming down from a meth bender. Did anyone else notice? I wonder why his tiktok videos bring so much more crackhead energy. The nasal fry was still annoying but I was pleasantly surprised.

It is impossible for Zack to do much better because the entire district has less than 10k people total.
giving him the benefit of the doubt then, maybe he was getting the 10k from the number of people Zac represents, not the number who voted for him.

but lets be honest, Zac is not representing anyone but deranged troons. I'm not sure how it works in the US but if its anything like in the UK it wouldn't surprise me if he is deselected prior to the next election. his entire 'career' is an embarrasment to the party, possibly even enough to lose a supposedly safe seat if any of his voters have actually followed him. now he's in the news it might pique their interest.

Tony and Zach, two men who look so much alike they could be brothers, are instead larping as women — not just women, but lesbians. So, they are two gay men whose narcissism runs so deep that they are essentially fucking themselves, pretending to be lesbian women. It’s like incest and troonery had a retarded baby.

they are two gay men
Two straight men whose brains have been broken by porn, but yes that's the practical effect.

Zac was interviewed by the BBC, featuring more reprehensible suicide-baiting. This is from Twitter, I haven't found a fuller version:

[00:00:00] Carl Nasman: Your comments, uh, saying lawmakers would have blood on their hands have been described by Republicans, your colleagues, as hateful rhetoric, as inappropriate and as disrespectful. Were you surprised by their reaction?

[00:00:13] Zooey Zephyr: You know, when I stand up to defend my community, uh, I chose my words, uh, with precision.

[00:00:18] I spoke with clarity about the real harm that these bills do. I have seen, I’ve had received calls from families whose trans teenagers attempted suicide while watching hearings on these types of legislation in my state. I’m not surprised that the majority speaker, uh, majority leader stood up and opposed like we’ve done when people on their the other side have said that my existence by its very nature is somehow sexualizing children.

[00:00:45] We object to that and then we move on with debate.
