Dylan James Mulvaney / Days of Girlhood / Day __ of Being a Girl - Dylan Explains It All, a gay man interprets 'girlhood' in all glorious technicolor.

I'm relatively new to Dylan so I ask the sages of this thread, how rare is it for him to take breaks like that? I know he teased a lot during his FFS arc, but IIRC he still posted some content here and there.
Put it this way, since he revealed his new face, he has been hyping up getting back to regular posting. He ramped up to his solo Broadway show, posted a Bud Light video, and now radio silence.

She says it was by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) because they have been buying ad agencies so they can create the actors and the ads.Tiktokers are great for one off media campaigns because they are cheap (compared to actual stars). "Talent agencies can provide cheap but well known talent for one off campaigns that even if unpopular, get the product trending." The rest of interview is very interesting and goes into more detail than the quote below.
Great find! The marketing vet seems to have nailed what Dylan's "appeal" is for brands (and for tweens).

My first theory is that CAA created Dylan to smash and grab during the Zeitgeist. Trans is the deflection du jour—especially since he is non-threatening on the surface. Tweens, his target, see him as asexual—he’s feminine with a lot of help. This is why Jeffrey Marsh and some of these other creepy men don’t land the brand deals. They are too old, undeniably male, and sexual. There is something pathetic and unthreatening about Dylan; yet, he’s annoying and a very untalented one-trick pony.
Zoey ends her analysis on a sobering note: “Once his numbers drop, his agent will drop him. Dylan will end up on terrible reality shows or worse.”

I hate when they do this shit. Yes, attacking someone simply for being trans is bad, but enough with the race-baiting bullshit, implying that I have a greater responsibility to protect "those of color" over white people. The AMA leaves out the fact that the blacks are the ones attacking the trannies of color so the AMA can suck-start a shotgun.
I know this is late, but blacks and other coloured people are probably more conservative on the troon/gender shit. Much of the "acceptance" comes from and is pushed by the progressive crackers. Lots of niggas would beat up a troon in a heartbeat. As would the browns, yellows and every other "of color" person under the sun.

I'll take the clocks if this has been posted but people telling us that a beer company's target audience of trucker and fratboy types being against wokeshit is "toxic"... all to defend a gay man in womanface who has protection from liberals because he's a TIM is just perfect.

Buckbroken into simping for white massa indulging his degenerate fetishes, amazing. Malcolm would've been proud.

i don't really feel bad for the youtubers late to the party on this, women's channels have been messed with for years for talking about the troons.
Richard Simmons is also an iconic figure whose name has endured the test of time. No one will know who Dyldo Mulvaney is in 5 years. It's been decades since his peak and people still know the name Richard Simmons, even if they don't know what specifically he did. And really, which of these people looks more approachable/less threatening?

one looks like a skinwalker and the other one looks like a happy guy doing his life's work helping people and bringing positivity and actual JOY to generations. also Richard never said he was a woman and never made a grotesque misogynistic shtick called "365 Days of Girlhood".

Seethe. It’s not the place of beer companies to change the world. Their job is to make beer and sell it. Bud has an established market and the advertisers thought they could turn their backs on it, and they failed - that’s what happened here. Hell, even Bud and the marketing agency don’t actually care, they just thought this was a way to drive sales up - hence the damage control.

No one buys Bud to be lectured on gender and masculinity. They buy it because they want to chill out. This guy is like a man who interrupts a chess tournament and complains that no one wants to play Hungry Hungry Hippos.

It was a bit of an intellectual exercise to attempt to answer this question, but here's a response: Mike Levy, the 80s/90s infomercial host of Amazing Discoveries. The OG straight RichSim.

This is pretty much it: authenticity. People loved Richard bc he seemed sympathetic – even with all the theatrics (sequin shorts included). Simmons and Mulvaney are lightyears apart to older people – one seems ridiculously fake and one seems sadly sweet. But maybe that's not so for the younger gen. Maybe Mulvaney is sympathetic/authentic, despite his theatrics, in the same way those older of us found Richard Simmons authentic despite his theatrics. I'm trying to tease apart the difference between the two. Maybe someone gen-x or older can ID this distinction. Why is Dylan so off-putting compared to goofy Richard? Is it all about the gender proclamation?
I don't find Dylan so off-putting as many do, though I severely limit my exposure  . But Richard Simmons spent his whole life (and until the last 10 years, did it constantly for decades) with a purpose, and his purpose was to help people - to move, feel good, get in better shape, be unembarrassed about themselves, to try. He has always given the most sincere vibe, that he would go out of his way to say or do a kind thing to lift someone (or many ones) up.

There are not many people who can seem that sincere and un-self-concerned, and are actually good at it, particularly in a theatrical persona, which as a general thing can be exhausting to be around.

I don't see any line of connection from Simmons to Mulvaney at all. Dylan's aim is - in keeping with the times - to make his persona/personal life/personality the beginning and the end of the show. Simmons has always been very closed about almost anything personal, and has always made it about the people he was aiming to help; the theatricality is how he likes to be, but it's not an end in itself.

Me neither. I'm not even sure how Richard Simmons came up, but I appreciate the bit of positivity he's brought to the thread. Simmons knew when it was time to step back and live his life out of the public eye. I think a lot of celebrities could learn a thing or two in that regard. A lot of cows could, too.

It'll be interesting to see how Dylan comes back from his little hiatus. His "career" has already peaked. Day 365 was as good as it'll ever get for him.

And not to continue the discussion too much more, but Simmons and Mulvaney are a perfect foil in one way: Simmons seemed like a theatrical gay man who would tone it down if someone seemed overwhelmed, whereas Mulvaney seems like a theatrical gay man who would get even worse, annoyed that you didn't immediately adore him.

Simmons was a giver. I feel like if I was in his presence, he'd be cheering me on in whatever it was I had going on. New job, new relationship, lost weight, whatever the case, it seems Simmons would be thrilled to be your cheerleader.

Dylan on the other hand is a taker and so insecure, he constantly needs your validation. The earlier video in his days of girlhood where he was being a "bimbo" was a good example. He had the other blonde gal with him who was telling him how great he looked in a bikini, but as I recall, he couldn't be bothered to return any compliments or said anything in kind to her. He's a narcissistic and selfish attention whore.

Richard Simmons had this thing about him where it didn't feel like he was selling you something. He felt authentic in a way that nearly everyone in the workout business failed to. Even now, when I look at people like Billy Blanks or something, I don't get the feeling he actually cares. It just feels like a paycheck to him. Annoying or not, when it comes to Richard Simmons, you really do get the feeling that if he were there in person, he would be cheering you on.
It's the same thing DDP has. When you are watching his videos you don't feel like it is just some guy trying to sell you a program (he is) you feel like it is a man who genuinely cares about what he is doing and wants to help people out (he does).

Anecdotal powerleveling, but I have had personal interactions with DDP and they have been nothing but positive. My body is sawdusted and I am in constant pain because of it. I saw the video of the guy with braces on youtube and figured I may as well try the program and it really helped with both the pain and the depression caused by trying to cope with that pain. I ended up talking to my mother about how much better I was feeling and she went behind my back and emailed DDP thanking him for what his program had done for me. I ended up getting a phonecall one day and it was DDP himself asking if he could talk. We ended up spending hours talking about my life, what I had gone through, and various personal things. At the end he asked me if I wanted film a video for him but I declined. Nonplussed by my unwillingness to help market his program he asked if he could call me again to check up on me and I agreed. So every year on my birthday I get a called from DDP and we end up shooting the shit for an hour or so talking about what is going on in my life.

That is the kind of vibe Richard Simmons used to have. He came across as someone who genuinely cared about other people, wanted to help others, and the fact he could pay his bills was just a bonus. He seemed like the kind of guy who, even if he couldn't sell you a product, would be the kind of guy who would run a seniors fitness program at your town's local rec center for free. Real nigga shit.

Dylan's smile look forced af. At least Richard Simmons' smile looks somewhat genuine.

How did this guy get so astroturfed?

I'll say this about DDP and his program, it works cause he's been in wrestling since the mid 80's and wrestlers of up until the 2000's didn't exactly live long lives let alone healthy lives due to just being party animals whether it was booze, the green medicine, white gimmick or pills so yeah the guy know a thing or two about empathy for addicts and the broken down. One name that comes to mind that would probably benefit the most from his help would be Bam Margera the life of partys every night and getting your body fucked up in stupid stunts is pretty close to wrestlers ok derailment over from me.

I just had a revelation right now with all the bud lite talk and then Richard Simmons talk.

The thread has gotten derailed easily because we seem to run out of things to talk about when it comes to Dylan.
Think about it. He does his shitty spots that are all shallow and not REALLY about anything, and then moves onto the next which are equally pointless.

One of the main reasons podcasters, youtubers, influencers, streamers, etc become popular is because they share who they are with you. You latch onto little moments in their life and you build a tapestry in your head. That's why even vapid people like Tana mongoose get a following. Sure, she's full of shit and makes/exaggerates things, but there's something to latch onto.

Dylan has NONE of that. He's like the fake town in Blazing Saddles. There's things there that look like it could lead to something, but the moment you peek at it a little closer, you realize it's all fake, and he's fake. Dylan is a product, and nothing more.

I'm relatively new to Dylan so I ask the sages of this thread, how rare is it for him to take breaks like that? I know he teased a lot during his FFS arc, but IIRC he still posted some content here and there.
He's never done this. He went in for FFS in mid December, and then did the giant choreographed face at the end of January - but he wasn't radio silent during that time. There was a lot of new stuff he posted from pre-surgery, including a video he'd pre-recorded in several outfits to celebrate reaching 10 million followers, along with a couple of "teasers" and content of himself in bandages. It was a very deliberate pre-planned hiatus that was carefully constructed to build hype for his new face (and obviously he actually had to avoid filming content while he waited for his surgery to heal). He posted less, but try scrolling through his social media between the face reveal and his "I'm going in for surgery" post; there was plenty of stuff getting pumped out.

This is something else. The last time he posted was April 5th on Instagram - not even an Instagram story since - and the 7th of April on TikTok (which was a clip from his Day 365 show, last original TikTok was the 5th as well). Nothing on his YouTube since Christmas (since it's only 8.6K subscribers). This interview with allure came out a couple of days ago but, based on the mention of "Day 368 of Girlhood", would have taken place in March (along with the shoot). The most recent new Dylan content was him being confronted in a hotel by James O'Keefe last week.

Dylan has completely gone to ground and has never been this quiet - with there being no reposts I'm inclined to think he's xannied up in a hotel room somewhere with strict instructions not to touch his phone, while Creative Artists Agency tear their hair out trying to strategise a "comeback" for their cash cow. Or, quite possibly, they're waiting for people to forget before they quietly drop him (can't do it now as it'll reignite the media circus and get them negative press).
