Are there tricks to finding lost/rare Youtube videos?

There's a specific video I recall seeing years ago I kinda wanted to watch again, and its a sad case where I remember a lot about it, but just not the actual title or who the author was.

In looking for it, I've learned things like how to limit searches to before certain years, and how to specify the video must be over a certain length, though neither has given me the result I'm looking for. As such now I'm looking at two possibilities: Either A) something about the video is making it not turn up (like maybe the author didn't put up tags) or B) the video might just plain not be on Youtube anymore (and in fact, it may have been Blip where I saw it). And in that case, I'm not sure what to do.

So, does anyone here have experience with this kind of thing? Have you ever had to find a video in this kind of circumstance and if so, how did you recover it (by which I mean, found a way to make it watchable again)? If a video really is no longer on Youtube or Blip, how do you find it?

I'd rather learn how to do this myself so that this doesn't end up being an endless process of "does anyone remember this video?" type topics (though the specific video I'm seeking out now is one I have described before ).

You can ask an AI. I asked Google Bard. Does this sound like the right video?

I think I found the video you're looking for! It's called "Mystery of the Druids - The Animated Review" by The Escapist. It's a 45-minute video that was uploaded on February 22, 2012. The reviewer is Yahtzee Croshaw, who is also known for his Zero Punctuation video game reviews.

The video starts with Yahtzee talking about the game's infamous box art, and he also ends the video by saying "all you need to know is... this game, this box art. Goodnight." He also makes the same comments about the hedge fence and the Mission Impossible music that you mentioned.

The video's title does not mention the phrase "Mystery of the Druids," but it does mention the game's box art in the title. The full title is "Mystery of the Druids - The Animated Review (Box Art Edition)."

I hope this is the video you're looking for!

Sure, here is the link to the video:

```
```

I hope you enjoy it!

I apologize for the inconvenience. The video you are looking for is no longer available on YouTube. It was taken down by the copyright holder, The Escapist.

I have found an alternative link to the video on the website Archive.org. The link is below:

```
```

I hope this helps!

I apologize for the inconvenience. I have searched for the video on a number of websites, but I have not been able to find any alternative links. It appears that the video has been taken down from all major websites.

I am not sure why the video was taken down. It is possible that the copyright holder, The Escapist, decided to remove it from the internet. It is also possible that the video was taken down due to copyright infringement.

I am sorry that I was not able to find a working link to the video. I hope that you are able to find it elsewhere.

@Something Awful well since I can't actually watch the video I can't confirm if its the right one or not.... but at least it gives me a possible lead. Maybe it'll turn up on some alternative site.

The thing that really bums me is I could swear I downloaded it back in the day but when I looked through my hard drives I could not find it.

There's nothing more frustrating than not being able to find a video you remember so vividly. I spent two hours trying to find a video on YouTube and never did find it. Hope you eventually find yours.
I even tried asking AI like the other poster mentioned and was disappointed when it didn't work. That would have been really impressive.

There is a lost media thread here: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/lost-or-unavailable-media.4083/
Maybe they could help or point you in the right direction.

There was a massive purge of content in the last years, if you liked a video as late as 2018 that wasnt some mainstream shit there is a good chance its gone.
So I would say your video is gone.

YouTube used to have tons of videos of guys in South America going onto busses and subways and filming up women's skirts with their cellphones. It was an entire genre on there awhile back. There also was this Indian (dot not feather) series of extra soft core porn. It would have an Indian man and woman, sometimes not fully dressed but always more covered than any person on a beach, and they'd just make out for like 15 minutes. It would never progress, there was never any groping or dry humping, just a heavy make out session and a lot of embracing one another.

The comments would be full of Indian men giving their utmost approval, as well as asking if anyone knew how they could get in touch with the women in the videos. They'd leave their email addresses and sometimes their phone numbers hoping someone would put them in contact with these Indian female make out actresses. It was the strangest thing. Youtube used to have weird stuff like that back in the day. Stuff that would never fly now.

If nobody decided to download and reupload it to another site then it's probably gone for good. There are number of youtube videos I remember watching that are just gone with no archives. Some may still be on the site, but with how awful youtube search algorithm is nowadays I probably have almost no chance of finding them.

From what you've told us, I don't see much hope in finding it. My answer, which you probably won't like, is to prevent anything else from being lost by archiving everything.

You have my condolences.

A couple of years ago I was thinking of making a Community Watch thread for youtube titled something like "I this pornography?/This is pornography." There was so much weird shit that technically didn't break the rules but it was absolutely porn for some. Some of it was not even remotely intended for that purpose but a hundred thousand weird pervs would somehow find a video with five views and it would explode, that was the community aspect of my thread idea. How did they find those videos? Who knows. They must have forums somewhere and it could be fascinating/horrifying.

If you can narrow down the channel(that seems impossible in your case) you might be able to find it via the Wayback Machine. It's a long shot.

My advice?
Hurry.

Old videos will get unlisted or removed. A lot of good ones are gone already. So now or never.

Unless the ai is multi-modal I don't generally see how it could be that great at finding it unless it was posted several times and described enough by said posters that the content within the video could be understood. Even then I don't think text+image ais can actually do anything yet with video. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So, lucky break... an absolute chad on Reddit of all places found the video. Its still up, just for some reason searches weren't returning it.

This is it. Apparently the dude just unlisted it a long time ago. Makes me think the guy on Reddit who linked me to it must either have it saved or must actually be the uploader.

Third-worlders certainly are an interesting bunch...

This reminds me of a video where a guy is teaching you how to treat a puncture wound, but for whatever reason he had decided that the model for this should be his girlfriend and the "wounds" would be her nips, covered with band-aids. The video had an obscene amount of dislikes and a horde of extremely enraged indians and middle-easterners in the comments, since they clicked on it for a glimpse of booba and it never fully delivered.
