It makes sense for Fishman to own the IP of talent so that the company can enforce copyright directly rather than having extra contracts to be able to represent the talent in legal filing.. Doubt Fishman would refuse to release the IP to the talent after termination, and IIRC Yuri talked on stream about being bored of vtubing and sort of forcing herself to stream, so it makes sense if she didn't bother buying the IP back.

Companies can have a track record of not having graduations or people getting fired but it eventually happens.

I do wonder if it will put people off from applying to Phase Invaders though in the future, given their whole thing was about keeping the model, yet an Invader has been the first one in that company to get canned.

Cover has a specific role in mind for each character so when people audition Cover is primarily looking for who can best fulfil the roles they have in mind. For Flayon they were probably looking for someone with experienced VA work and he was the best application they got, whatever that might entail.

Kinda fucked up that her social media and channels are being closed when they didn't belong to Phase Connect originally. Really recontextualizes what kind of deal you're getting with Phase Invaders.

My hope is that Yuri just got bored of it and didn't want to pay the buy out Phase wanted. My guess would be delete all videos made while at Phase and buyout investments they made for models and other stuff you want to take with you. Signing away the complete rights for the channel without the ability to buy it out is a shit deal, and the kind of thing I worried about when they announced they joined Phase.

In the end, given no other information, I trust Phase to do business fairly and be reasonable more than Yuri, right now.

Can't really blame the guy for it, I imagine the fact he seems to be semi-active in the community while people also constantly blame shit on him and speculate about behind the scenes shit probably drives him mad. Just be glad he hasn't started openly shitting on fans yet, that would be a sight.

I'm kinda agreeing with Cloud though depending on how much of the DFE was Yuri and how much was Phase. Complete DFE is antithetical to "parting ways in the most comfortable way possible"

It's far too easy and convenient to put the onus upon Fishman and PC rather than putting the blame on the streamer, especially if you liked her. Panko said something about it at the end of her stream today that sounded more like venting than damage control.

Main takeaways for me

• She and a bunch of other people are upset about this whole affair.
• She's upset with people instantly calling Phase Connect a black company despite the massive amount of freedom that Fishman and their managers give them.
• Whatever happened with Yuri, this is not the first time that it's happened.
• Management has tried repeatedly to work with her about or over something but nothing would ever come of it. It sounded like this was related to the prior point.
• She believes Yuri is alright.

I really am gonna miss her. She's Phase's first casualty and I did not foresee it being her. I really hope when all the dust settles we can still remember her fondly.
