Just because a pile of shit comes out in pieces, doesn't mean its not still just shit. Its just several clumps of shit rather than one big pile.
We are so far removed from Monty, a man who died 8 years ago, that it is patently absurd to think any of the new shit, especially volume 9, ever came from him.
Yeah, being discount A:TLA really hasn’t gone too well. I know the talking point is “CRWBY didn’t have the skills necessary to tell the story they wanted to tell”, so I guess Monty went “screw it” and just punted that to Miles and Kerry. And after he died, we’ve been seeing the result of them doubling down on their (lack of) ability to tell a story that wouldn’t be out of place in a Final Fantasy clone. He created a show to have fight scenes and a homage to the fun things he loved about anime. Nowdays it's anything but fun. Even the fanboys that praise the faux "deepness" aren't praising it for being fun.
And frankly RWBY was never known for their takes on suicide, or depression. There's already much better shows for that elsewhere.
I swear to god, I will fucking hunt through every fucking interview and commentary track Monty did, and I will find the goddamn clip where he says romance was never intended.
Good luck finding it.I swear to god, I will fucking hunt through every fucking interview and commentary track Monty did, and I will find the goddamn clip where he says romance was never intended.
If it's any consolation, the Tim Drake comic might have gotten a shadow cancellation too. It says that it "ended" but I don't think a supposedly "fan favorite" comics (Comicbook's words, not mine), get stopped after just 10 issues. The same thing applies to that Batgirls one that's ending alongside it, cause it went against basic lore to be "strong & independent" shit.Nah, DC & Marvel making characters gay when it makes no sense is an ongoing trend. Robin is arguably worse because we've had Tim around for 30 something years, able to read his thoughts, and never seeing him attracted to guys, whereas at least the Nu-Superman has only been around for like 5 years and he was basically a kid/young teen for the majority of that time.
Officialy, she died on a mission on behalf of Ozpin's shadow war.So wtf was the deal with Ruby's mom? Did they just leave her ass in the shadow relm?
I'm kind of surprised that they didn't have Ruby going to immediately accept Yang and Blake once she got over her issues. Maybe they'll do that if V10 is approved.I really wonder how badly the homophobic rwby memes damaged the brand and what they were thinking even adding that scene in. Kinda feels like lets go brandon for trans and gey shit.
I partially agree? Like, past the self-insert accusations and side-lining problems, I think the true reasoning for why Jaune, and by extension his team and the prominent side cast of whichever volume, feel more like the main characters than our actual main characters is because the writers are limited in what they can do with Team RWBY.
Why do you think that's "not allowed"? Because Ruby has become RT's mascot? Because RWBY is RT's flagship IP/franchise?Our main girls are 'protected', all damage to them narratively has to be superficial or something that can be hand-waved later, every mistake dismissed and no conflict between them that's allowed to risk making their friendship or character anything other than clean.
Because Ruby's the protagonist. Why do you think that's "not allowed"? Because Ruby has become RT's mascot? Because RWBY is RT's flagship IP/franchise?
Why should she apologize? She's right for once. They're in a bad situation and 2 of them are primarily concerned with romance instead of escape. Do you have any idea how long it's been since Ruby was right about something?Ruby never apologizes, so the memes can continue. Lol
Oh, I know. I just meant in terms of how people who watched the thing view it, Ruby went on a homophobic rant and didn’t have to apologize. It’s just funny. Why should she apologize? She's right for once. They're in a bad situation and 2 of them are primarily concerned with romance instead of escape. Do you have any idea how long it's been since Ruby was right about something?
It's not even hyperbolic, these two were so concerned with romance over everything else that the one and only thing they face in the ponder storm is whether or not they like each other. The world's at stake, their friends could be dead for all they know, Salem's got the staff, they're stuck in another world not knowing if they'll ever escape and they've just left Atlas in ashes; but none of that is even close to the front of their minds. Why should she apologize? She's right for once. They're in a bad situation and 2 of them are primarily concerned with romance instead of escape. Do you have any idea how long it's been since Ruby was right about something?
A ton of people have said it, but JNPR acts as real protagonists, because team RWBY is the mascots. In a way, they have to remain as perfect and pure as they possibly can, because they're the waifus that draw in money to Rooster Teeth's sinking ship. It's probably why the company acts so weird regarding Yang's prosthetic arm.
It's sad to think about, but I think you might be wrong about Monty succumbing to wokeshit. He was autistically stubborn for everything that he did, so much so that the thought of getting a new PC or something made him upset. Not to mention the fact that he was a hardcore weeabo and Asian. (However his brother that currently voices Ren is one of the like, 5 woke Asians to exist). I think at some point he might have actually taken his IP and left Rooster Teeth if they kept trying to push him in a specific direction. In that alternate universe, I believe it would have crashed and died before nine volumes, but at least it would have stayed fun and had passion behind it.I don't know much about Monty, Still, tragically is still very very unlikely he wouldn't have succumbed to the woke cult. I think eventually everyone around him at RT would have pushed him that way. It was inevitable.
Still, I very much doubt the Monty that created RWBY would like what it ended up being.
For one, there's barely any trace of the action filled fight scenes he pulled all nighthers for eye candy. The technology they use is better yet it all somehow looks worse. Characters barely move. New designs are uglier.
He created a show to have complex fight scenes and a homage to the fun things he loved about anime. Nowdays it's anything but fun. Even the fanboys that praise the faux "deepness" aren't praising it for being fun.
And frankly RWBY was never known for their takes on suicide, or depression. There's already much better shows for that elsewhere.
Well you see, she’s a woman character, so she has to be fully redeemed and made to be a good person no matter what horrible things she’s done.I was glad they didn't kill off Neo after the CC broke her but, first of all, her last few scenes looked way too much like redemption she didn't earn. She didn't react at all upon seeing Ruby alive before she just willingly went into the tree to be reborn as 'something new'? I didn't read her novel but wasn't that about her journey towards becoming Neopolitan, embracing her odd eye and everything? Making this ending a horrible fit for her arc? I can't be the only one who thinks they fucked this up too. I guess it's better than Neo dying permanently with no hope of seeing her again in some form but it just doesn't sit right. My suggestion probably isn't that good but Neo staying in a bootleg Wonderland with her illusions forever but alive as herself feels more earned as a villain over getting a totally peaceful ascension. Yang and Ruby totally drop that she tried to kill them personally to wax that she'll "find herself" but she already chose what she wanted to be, Neopolitan, and she never regretted it. She also gazes into a bottomless hole looking sad while letting go of her only cope (imaginary husbando), the suicide thing applies just as much to her too as it does to Ruby, imo. And what about her beef with Cinder?
