Why is Japan okay with pedophilic material?

Life for most Japanese is pretty miserable. They live in a tiny box. Everything costs alot. They are expected to give everything to work. There is also often little opportunity for social mobility. Life is just not great. Which is why they don't reproduce at any kind of normal rate.
So the society compensates for all that by being at some levels rather porn-y, fetish-y and just plain weird. The culture is so locked down and controlled in public that people being private freaks with their porn doesn't tend to leak out into bad behavior in the culture as a whole.
I really wish more people would approach it from this way. It's very strange that as a generation we lived through violent video games and the Satanic panic, yet we're right back at the point of blaming media and looking at no other factors. If I see one more latte-slurping redditor lecture us about how Rick Sanchez and Tyler Durden are solely responsible for young men going astray I'm going to fucking gag. No dumbass, characters like Rick Sanchez and Tyler Durden are pretty normal male fantasy characters, it's just that your society doesn't want healthy men. They want to pathologize their impulses, force feed them Ritalin when they don't want to sit in a sterile room for 8 hours at a stretch, then psyop and guilt them into cutting off their dick(both literally and figuratively). It's basically telling them "No, you're not allowed to even imagine a world where you're not on all fours being spitroasted by us. You'll get what we give you and don't complain about it, you toxic male."

national television would air shows about the romance between grown-ass men and clearly underage (and at times prepubescent) children after all.
Which show do you exactly refer to? Like I immediately thought of general male oriented anime, but besides being a niche, protagonist ages never go above 21 and I don't remember any relationship with prepubescent girls (at most it's the "petite at legal age").

The cases I remember are usually shows geared more for women/girls, that I pretty sure have their own version in the west.

Kodomo no Jikan and Boku no Pico were the first that immediately came to mind.

Admittedly the former (I didn't watch the latter) feels like it could actually be a compelling story.... my problem though is that when you watch it (or more specifically, read the manga) any pretense of it being a heartfelt story about a teacher dealing with the romantic affections of one of his students is quickly torn off, particularly as the girl and her two friends (most especially the black-haired one) stop acting anything like real children and start acting like some pedo wish fulfillment fantasy.

Dude, It's kinda like taking Lolita and Justine and then asking why Wypipo read those as bedtime stories to their children. From your examples, one is straight up porn for women, the other is one of the most infamous anime made.

Japan: Cartoon children who aren't real.

America: Cuties, Drag Queen Story hour, MAPS on Twitter, teachers trooning out kids, kids watching sodomy at Pride Parades, higher rates of child rape.

Clearly the Japs are the problem.
Japan has an entire industry of underage girl singers here is a short documentary
Also they have that trend of having female only trains otherwise women will risk being molested.

>be Japanese
>live in one of the highest trust, insular nations on the planet
>enjoy lower levels of rape, sexual assault and violent crime in general than most of the west
>occasionally explore shit like age gap relationships in a way that was totally normal in every era prior to western feminism
>still have to deal with mystery meat mutts wringing their hands about loli
>unironically have to deal with moral judgements from the same people that made Dylan Mulvaney, Nicki Minaj and Lizzo famous

Jesus fucking Christ do I ever feel bad for the island chinks.

"Hey guys, you know those pedophiles who masturbate to drawings of children? Well, these other pedophiles exist who are also gay or trans, so if you think about it, those lolicons are actually based and redpilled."

While I don't agree with their observations, I do think its important to point out that that both West and East have issues with the sexualization of children and that this isn't unique to any one nation or culture. Of course the main difference between what OP brought up* and what those two mentioned is the involvement of actual kids, with examples like Cuties involving actual kids being used for filming where as the Japanese* examples were drawn/animated and didn't physically involve kids.

*I didn't look into each and every example given for jap media, so i could be making a incorrect assumption there.

Don't even try to understand Japan as a westerner. You won't. They are an insular island people that when they aren't being blown away by hurricanes are getting buried by Volcanic eruptions, and if they manage to dodge that a Tsunami is going to come in and sweep them out too a watery grave. They went insane a long time ago and its best for everyone, including them, that they stay on their little island.

This and the sheer difference of scale between the East and the West. The examples mentioned in this thread have thus far been Kodomo no Jikan, Boko no Pico and RapeLay. I admittedly have no knowledge of the first, but I do know of the latter two. Boku no Pico ran for three episodes before they scrapped it, and the only people that still remember it are 4chan weebs that still remember when it was fun to suggest it to /a/ newbies. RapeLay was a tiny game released by a tiny studio not much larger than some modding circles, and the only thing I can find to verify it was ever released anywhere outside of hentai sites is a vague Wikipedia entry. It's easy to look at anime and assume that's representative of mainstream Japanese culture, but that's just wrong. Anime certainly has its following in Japan, but it's not as omnipresent as a casual look at some Japanese tourist traps for American weebs would have you believe. Looking at a few obscure entries in a genre that's already pretty obscure and using that as a way of judging an entire country's culture is like me looking at an American community that makes Skyrim mods, then concluding that every American can't get enough furry vore.

Meanwhile western media is pushing closer to pedophilia acceptance with every year, and they're trying less and less to at least be subtle about it. Give the Japs another five years and they'll have sugoi'd a few kawaii lolis, but they'll be in a similar place. Give the west another five years and we'll have three new Dylan Mulvaneys, two more Cuties sequels and a movie released by Netflix that includes a 9 year old girl being diddle. Purely for artistic purposes to demonstrate the evils of human trafficking or some shit.

It's really something.

Like if you get caught doing drugs over there, it's this huge stain on your reputation.

You get caught stalking and groping middle school girls on the street or paying 14 year olds for sex and they barely give a shit.

It almost feels like the only reason people even get in trouble is because it would embarrass the country in front of Western nations if they didn't at least make a token arrest. Then as soon as nobody's looking they just release the dude and he goes back to what he was doing like it wasn't even a big deal.

Maybe they'd make the argument that these middle school girls aren't truly traumatized by being assaulted or exploited by grown men and it's not that serious, where as getting high causes people to become addicts and make reckless decisions that hurt their community? Idk what the line of reasoning is, but I disapprove.
There's like zero tolerance there for even older men talking to young girls. You guys really don't know what you're talking about or have ever followed the Japanese news. I've seen police put out alerts for like men asking for directions from school girls. Japan's rate of sex crimes is basement level like all crimes. So much autism and stupidity in this thread, and no understanding of how Asian culture works in general.

I'm still confused about peoples obsession with lolicon when there are actual real life pedophiles. Epsteins pilot is still running things, it never stopped. She was never charged.

But no, lets argue about Japanese drawings again, they're the real threat.

No offense but I find this to be a load of dingo's kidneys.

It's like:

Hey wtfNeedSignUp, can you provide an example of a trans person grooming a child?

What's that? You don't autistically document every single instance (because you have other priorities, you never thought someone would ask, and you're on a forum where trans being groomers is taken as read anyway)? So you're only able to name some you happened to read about recently?

Oh p'shaw! I guess there isn't an actual tendency for trans people to be groomers and people are just blowing a few rotten eggs out of proportion!

Just to be clear--I'm not saying I'm definitely right and that Japan really is a pedo nation... just... if you're gonna tell me that supposition is wrong (and some posts in this topic have indeed gone a way towards doing that), you're not gonna convince me by using a roundabout Absence of Evidence clause. That's just gonna come off like chicanery to me.

Compare stats on sex crimes in Japan and the USA. USA is the one with the problem, not Japan.

Japan is a straight up garbage culture, to be perfectly honest. Just my opinion. My enthusiasm for visiting Japan is about the same as my enthusiasm for visiting Haiti.

The Fishmans were an S tier drug band though, I will fully concede that.

Edit: Jap food is 1 million times better than Haiti food, I felt I should add this. But still, a garbage culture.

I totally agree. I was just autism-ranting about the internet's tendency to reduce everything to "can you provide examples? No? Then it must not be a real thing."

Your posts, for what its worth, have actually been fairly convincing because you actually discuss stuff.

A important note I think should really be remembered when looking at a lot of Japanese Anime & Manga (which is what i feel OP is mainly discussing when talking about the Pedophilia issue) is that a lot of Anime and Manga is marketed at teenage Males and Females, its why a lot of that media is set in highschool's, that's a setting the intended readers can relate to.
