I see it as a symptom of what’s really going on. It’s not about living authentically, quite the opposite. It’s about escaping your real self and becoming a character.

You look at Zach, you see a gawky, awkward poofter. “Zooey Zephyr” isn’t like that, though. “Zooey Zephyr” is cool, smart and self-assured. Yet at the same time, cute, empathetic and a little bit quirky. When she puts her hand on her heart, cries a single tear or presses a button, it’s a dramatic gesture that impresses everyone. Her speeches aren’t mawkish and clichéd, they’re moving and inspiring.

Unfortunately for Zac, reality doesn’t work like that. Zooey is just Zac in a dress.

I find it hard to not disagree on virtually every level. all of this because he refused to apologize, takes righteous indignation at being treated like everyone else, and because these disingenuous fucks have managed to crybully their way out of every attempt to tell them "no". they can read into it as uncharitably as they want, for once they can't crybully and harass their way out of the most minor of wrist slaps and have escalated it into a giant shitshow for themselves.

There's a bit more context to Zack's statement than just "there's blood on your hands". Agreed, people use that phrase a lot. I'd still say that's unprofessional, but perhaps not censor-worthy.

However Zack's been jabbering quite a bit about how he's hearing from people specifically that these laws are making them want to commit suicide. (And did he claim some suicides actually occurred as a result of recent legislation? Or am I thinking of some other twitter tranny?)

He's explicitly tying legislative action (and making a snarky reference to people's christian faith at the same time) to actual suicides.

That's a fair thing to exclude from the workplace. His fellow legislators are ultimately his colleagues.

I'm not saying there's no cause for discipline and bringing Zac's behavior to order, I'm saying his opponents should know the optics of this, they should know how it plays, and they would get further by undermining him subtly. Zac is the center of attention, the one who's sucking oxygen out of the room, so allowing a whole circus to be created around his right to speak is exactly what a perpetual martyr wants. If you needed to discipline him and make a point about his conduct and the implications of his speech, why not simply a reprimand? There's no reason to think that. This isn't the US Congress, this is a state legislature with a Republican supermajority. They'll already be accused of genocide for passing the bill regardless.
