You've all brought me out of my sabbatical with all your contract talk. Here's a round-up on what Nick said about his Rumble contract. Elissa did a nice job covering it. (They should be on Kiwi for posterity if they're not here already.)
November 28: Pre-signing, Grumpy & Whining
Summary - Negotiations stalled, whining abt the initial deal he rejected, huge shade on Rumble's clunky platform, Rumble must "make up the gap" from YT bc "I will be one of the top 3 creators on Rumble" (hmmm how's that goin' ?), "I am working on this channel 24 hours/day" (are you now?), "I am not the kind of guy who chases views" (we noticed). Also, notable: 1) Some nerd talk about CPMs and why Rumble's viewer counts are wonky; 2) A clear reliance on Locals sub $. Subs were 5900 at the time.
December 1: Announcement of Rumble deal
Summary - Mostly what we know but worth noting: Laughably he says 1) He'll be making a clear schedule published to all followers (we're still waiting, Rackets); 2) At the time of signing he still sees YoutTube is his platform for growth (hmmm) and Rumble as his platform for income - around 9:00 min in.
In between there is this but it's mostly repetitive:
Added notes not captured in these clips:
- I recall that Nick has mentioned 2022 being his best year (Depp) and making $750K not including Superchats. After some back-of-the-envelope calculations at the time, I determined that his Rumble contract is likely around $1.1M bc he mentions that they had to make up the gap bw Superchats and Rumblerants.
- I've seen no evidence that it's only a 1 year deal but I believe @Nothing To Say Here . Rumble would be smart to maintain flexibility.
- The Locals contract is separate and I recall him saying that he pockets all the subscriber $.
Overall Take Away: 1) He's probably pocketing around $1.3M, conservatively, IF (big if) he's maintaining 5000 Locals subs - that's $300K/year. 2) It's astonishing to see how motivated and ambitious he was to make it all work properly. How quickly they fall.
