Ukraine keeps saying that it can't do that due to not being given enough gibs, but will totally go once they get fighter jets, all the ammo in the world and an atomic bomb with a cherry on top so they can purge the filthy moskals from Donbass and Crimea as is their right as a sovereign nation operating within its borders, civilians included. Russia keeps pretending nothing is happening, move along citizen, don't think about the special military operation too much, here is a list of shithole third world countries you can still go to vacation this summer and oh, we spent billions to send a broad into space to make a movie, go see it. Prigozhin of Wagner fame - the guy who has been triumphantly taking Bakhmut for half a year now - is still triumphantly taking Bakhmut while fuming at the Russian Ministry of Defense for sabotaging his efforts, not sending ammo and not taking the Ukrainian counteroffensive seriously. He keeps repeating it should not be underestimated, says Russia is in serious danger and will be hit some time between May 2 and May 15.

Choosing who to believe is entirely up to you.

It's kind of fascinating how Russians did their encirclement. I had initially thought that they would go for a traditional encirclement which would taking Ivanivske. Instead they seem to have set up the Ukrainians to have to resupply through areas which are extremely venerable to artillery and then leveraged their overwhelming artillery advantage into creating sort of an artillery encirclement.

IIRC, the whole "decolonize Russia" thing was talked about by Pentagon officials not long after the war began. I assume it's their failed attempt at building support for the war among woke youth -- they wanted to reframe the desired partition of Russia as some kind of crusade against evil white Russian colonizers who won't let Eurasian POC's be free.

They have spent the last 30 years or so shitting on manufacturing trades. No zoomers are becoming machinists. They saw the past generation all get laid off and everything get shipped to china. They saw elite spit in their face while telling them to LEARN TO CODE.
And all the little companies that used to machine these parts and tooling all closed up shop from the government's constant start/stop ordering. Lean "Just in time" and on demand supply lines doesn't work for this type of stuff.

Places like Electric Boat need to hire 14,000 people just to fill the contracts they already have lined up. They have said its going to take them 10 years to do it and they basically have get kids strait out of high school in to training and apprenticeship programs. This was before Ukraine.

These munitions companies are not going to be able to just snap their fingers and find 1000's of people who can do this sort of work tomorrow. Unless the USA gets serious about re-shoring skilled manufacturing I just do not see them being able to unfuck the capacity issues. Kids are not going to commit to a career they know will vanish at the drop of a hat.

When MIC companies like NG tell you its going to take 6 years they really mean 12. Oh and multiply the cost 3x.

Remember that this exact same thing happened last year when gas prices went stratospheric. We were massively bottlenecked with refining but nobody was building more of it because they knew that DC would go back to butt-fucking them the second the crisis cooled, and that they'd be forced to eat the bill for their capital investments while the bureaucracy implemented Net Zero mandates or whatever. Nobody's going to seriously ramp production unless they already have a ton of excess capacity (no one does) because they know the demand will evaporate once Washington moves on to the next [current thing.]

This is a problem that's ubiquitous in this country and will stay that way unless there's a massive onshoring/reindustrialization program, which everyone knows isn't going to happen under any manifestation of the current government. The last time they had someone who wanted to do that, the entire system went full tilt into destroying him.

That's all they got. It's always "2 more weeks" or some gay irrelevant shit. Some guy was like maybe they'll take another 6 months to take Bakhmut, even though the Ukrainians are pushed to the western fringes of the city.

The end results are what matters. Maybe that's what happens when you're a NATO shill that never seems to close the deal on any shit they get into and just leaves the country a broken mess in the end.

The West, particularly the US, has been obsessed with this delusion of nation building ever since the 20s, and especially post-WW2, so badly that any chance they get they will use.
