General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Most holofans weren't there when Fubuki had comments off/members only chat for 3 months because she was botspammed for being the only hololive member to collab with Coco. Most holofans don't even know how bad the botspam was and how Cover did nothing to prevent it for half a year and actively made things worse by stopping her from adding more mods or using nightbot.

Cover's malicious incompetence was sweeped under the rug by both the company and Kson to prevent any bad feelings after the graduation but that historical revisionism makes newer people think Kson just left for no reason. The first thousand pages of this thread have a lot of information about this subject but nobody gonna read that shit.

When Kson says hololive prevented her from doing what she wanted to do, what she meant was "interact with fans like without being spammed with KIRYU COCO GRADUATE NOW messages or collab with her own genmates like a normal member of Hololive without being ghosted by management", not being slutty on chaturbate with Melody.
I was there the whole time, she was able to collab with other JPs without issues though, what happened was:
  • she wasn't able to collab nor interact publicly with EN girls, and worse, the EN girls were not even allowed to namedrop her in public which was extremely dumb, this is probably the only time you will see me shitting on the EN management or whoever responsible for this dumb decision (this is also the "ghosted by management" part you mentioned)
  • no ID collabs either from what I've seen, but at the very least it ends there, Moona was able to call-in to her birthday, and she also interacted with them in their MC server
  • she was suspiciously missing from the official Hololive channel for the whole time, including HoloGra (up until the one right before her graduation date)

Not-Rushia has repeatedly mentioned not being happy with the contract, her pay cut, streaming on twitch etc etc, I could easily see her leaving
Hopefully the negotiations for her next contract are better then. She should be due for a new one.

You're forgetting that Coco was quarantined from Gen 5. Lamy and Botan have brought up how much they regretted not being able to collab with coco until the final month despite having half a year to do so.

The minecraft streams were so bizzare. One thing that sticks out in my memory was how reluctant Aqua was to even mention Coco once when she built her house next to the Aquamarine one piece ship. Coco's MC streams were almost entirely solo aside from a brief adventure with Kanata. The only other notable collab was the sports day event, which had Haachama's viewpoint botspammed to hell because Cover couldn't even set it to members only.

Some of the botspam still remains to this day because the stream chat was unmoderated

Also being the only Holo not invited to the new years party really sucked.

Edit: there was a running meme in the coco thread about how many times Aqua would mention or allude to Coco. This is because Aqua was afraid of her schizo chink audience. The counter went up to 2 from October 2021 to graduation. One was an indirect mention and the other was a "accidental" encounter during sports day, I think.

I'll probably stop sneeding about this topic now because it's already ancient history.

Wait really? This is new to me. I know she was part of many collabs with JP members, including big ones such as Among Us collabs (which had almost everyone's chat being spammed), but I can't remember if any Gen 5 member was part of those. People keep pointing out the lack of EN collabs/interactions so that part was obvious, but never anything about Gen5.

There was also the Coco x Ollie MC interaction.

As for the part about Aqua, I heard that was more of Aqua herself being afraid as she had one of the largest CN fanbase.

Yeah Botan, the cool and collected one who can kill a man at 50 yards in COD with a single "poi", was really torn up about it.
I've heard some people state that this moment is when they got pushed over the edge. It's still a little bit of a rough watch.

Yeah, that last goodbye stream with them was really hard.

The whole Houshou Marine's Second World saga has been surreal. I can't believe Marine is a real game dev now

quick rundown:

A small explanation for people who didn't follow the whole The Second World saga.

This all started when Subaru hosted a stream where holomem would talk about their "dark history": cringe things they did in the past. Marine's was a RPGmaker game she made during highschool, The Second World, an edgy RPG inspired by Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, the Tales of series and many other interests she had at the time.

People got interested in it and Marine still had the file, so she decided to stream it a bit. But it was TOO cringe to her and she couldn't stand playing much more of it. Here comes a coyote...

Koyori asked Marine if she could play and stream the game. Marine agreed as long as Koyori would end the stream if she died. She then streamed it and almost died several times just close to the beginning, but kept going on for eight hours voicing EVERY character. It's a game filled with 2000s era anime tropes and situations, with tsunderes, walking in on the girls taking baths, BL baiting, tons of narration and dialogue, etc - it's glorious!

Later Koyo had to stop, but Senchou was impressed with that and joined for another stream where they finished the game.
Marine and Koyori toyed around with the idea of voicing the game with holomem because of it, and then Inoue Marina, a very famous pro seiyuu that Marine is a HUGE fan of, twitted that she wanted to voice act in it too!
Marine was super happy about it and later got more and more requests from other pro seiyuu that wanted to be part of it as well. So she then organized for months both the Holomem Auditions and Pro seiyuu Auditions to pick the voices for each character in the game.

Last week we had a stream where Marine picked hololive members to voice the characters in a version and today alongside Miko, Polka and Koyori they judged several seiyuu that sent lines for the Pro version. It was very high quality work and filled with fan (and Holomem) favorites like Ayane Sakura, Shiraishi Ryoko, Hiroki Tochi, etc.

This teaser is the end result of the pro seiyuu audition. Marine produced the whole project all the way through for months and even drew new illustrations for it (EDIT: oh apparently she hired someone to do that, so give love to the artist Takase Maru)! So it was a lot of work, but it's a very heartwarming story as her creativity as a teenager otaku highschool girl is now given life by her creativity as a talented and hardworking creator that is admired by even her personal idols, now voicing her work!

My Realistic RRAT regarding the Vshojo dropouts is that Vshojo's new contract likely involved them taking a cut of donation and subscriber revenue, this was enough of a issue that Vei and Nyan decided to leave. Twitch already takes a 50/50 split, down from the former 70/30 split, with Vshojo taking a further cut on top of that they would possibly be nearing a 30/70 split. Silvervale has the very obvious drama reasons to jump ship, I imagine Froot's bullshit during hogwarts and the implied Behind the scenes drama was a decent deciding factor in her choice, but the compounding money issue they were all facing sent her over the edge.

Twitch streamers are really anal about the Rev Split, so I see this as a case of them cutting off one of the leeches to recoup the losses from the new split. Now more than likely someone like Mousey got a very different contract from Silver and Vei, but Nyanners also jumping ship is weird to me, you'd think she would get something comparable to Mousey if not as good, so if it was bad enough for her to leave? I do not think we have seen the end of the Vshojo dropouts and Vshojo likely won't survive into 2024.

TL/DR: Vshojo likely pushed a higher Revenue split, Nyanners, Vei, and Silver all decided they were better off as indies. Silver's drama from February likely played a major part in her decision, but I think she may have still jumped ship if my theory is correct.

Mouse has a different contract with a major talent agency, so she may not feel as dependent on her Twitch money now. Alternatively, she had a different contract due to her illness.

The other agency thing would make me thing she would be MORE likely to jump ship, she has her money split 4 ways, Twitch takes the 50% cut and then the other 50% is split between her, Vshojo, and the Agency, so Vshojo must be giving her a very good deal to keep her on, raises questions.

Imo I think Gunrun did a big oopsie and wanted a piece of the pie for "all of the services he provided" , this wasn't about the rrats surrounding the tranny question. Although it could be taken as one of the reasons.

Their lineup is still going strong but if they still keep bleeding members like that then it must have been a really fucking shitty contract if so many girls decided to leave.

I don't particularly care for Vshojo, but for some reason this news kinda makes me feel a lot more cynical about the vtuber industry and it's future. Can anyone relate?

The fad/bubble is popping but I don't see the medium dying, it's just stabilizing to reality. Corpos will be more conservative about new generations or projects but unless a major yab or graduation happens in Hololive or the economy crashes so bad nobody can send superchats anymore, this is just nature taking course.

if this is about contracts not-sydsnap definitely going to be leaving vshojo next, ironmouse about to be close to leaving too. purely from a business stand point it just doesnt make sense for ironmouse to give vshojo a cut. her name has more brand recognition than vshojo and shes already with united talent who has the better capabilities to secure brand deals.

if ironmouse stays, her deal has to be hella good. as in vshojo takes no cut, and pays her to put their logo on her name.

If Froot winds up leaving Vshojo then pretty much all the drama sources will have left it's EN side. Vei, Nyanners, and Froot are all the ones that wound up doing or saying stupid as shit things that caused drama. Ironmouse, Zen, and Melody have all had their dumb moments, but they certainly don't seem prone to making drama.
i dont even think froot is that big of an issue to be honest. from what i have looked into about her it seems like she is just another case of someone who spent time on a 4chan board long enough to be known and because she changed people hate her. like the cheating thing was bad sure but it seems like her ex husband is over it so bringing it up now is just weird. i do think her mom needs to get the fuck off of twitter though because holy fuck does she make things worse for froot.

but as far as drama sources are concerned the remaining members all have some potential. especially mouse and zen.

It's going to (rightfully) kill off the fad seekers, e.g majority of EN Vtubers cropping up like weeds but in the long run, JP groups/companies will just thrive more because they'll be poised to getting more competitive with hiring practices if they continue to support EN, including NijiEN, because there won't be much for ENVtubers to strive for, since the big indies has 0 reason to give up what they have, it's usually 1-2 views fighting over each other for a spot.

I only have respect for froot from basically stealing from the people that harassed pikamee into quitting, she's a POS otherwise lol. Zen is definitely one meltdown away from shit going south quickly. Mousey is ok, she played the field. The forgotten Hime is probably going to be officially let go at some point.
