My apologies – I have no intention of insulting the ancient and noble art of spinning, which is both beautiful and practical. The maternal side of one's family is called the distaff side for a reason, after all.Hey now. I have friends who spin yarn, they are all pretty cool people - none of whom dress like that. Spinning/fiber arts are cool these days with upper middle class middle-aged women, because we're the ones with the income to support the hobby. It's a huge deal, with festivals, retreats, cruises, and everything.
Men nerd out about cars. Women nerd out over fiber.
Just remarking on how those dresses are a throwback to the times when it was an everyday necessity, rather than a craftsy hobby.
