A Texas high school assistant principal has been hospitalized after a group of students brutally assaulted her in an unruly mob attack on Thursday, according to Click2Houston.
"She loves those kids," a teacher at Westfield High School said of her colleague. "She is the nicest person, and she's the best administrator that we have."
The brutal attack happened at Westfield High School in Houston on Thursday at the school's 9th Grade Center when a group of students bum-rushed the assistant principal who the school has not yet identified.
"Three or four other kids jumped in on her. Just pummeled her to the ground, and they started kicking her and pulling her hair," a teacher that spoke on anonymity told the outlet. "It broke my heart. It makes me want to cry."
The beating left the woman with head injuries and the victim's family says that she is still suffering from severe head pain, the outlet reports. She was also reportedly unable to speak after the attack and needed a CT scan.
The Spring Independent School District released a statement to Fox News confirming that a "staff member" was transported to the hospital following an "altercation" and that students were being "investigated."
"School administrators were able to intervene and stop the fighting quickly. As a result of the incident, a staff member was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. That staff member was treated and released the same evening," a school district official to the network. "We are currently conducting a full investigation of all students involved, some of whom already have been identified for disciplinary action. We take these issues very seriously as the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. There will be no tolerance for any altercations or disruptions to learning."
According to the teacher who spoke about the altercation on anonymity, there are only two police officers on campus, and faculty have not felt safe at Westfield High School for quite some time.
"When you call for help to the front office, nobody ever shows up," she said. "We don’t feel safe. Faculty don’t feel safe … if the parents knew how unsafe the inside of the school is, they would be upset."
