joined the game 2 months ago. pretty fun game, but im observing the fandom from VERY far away. that cesspool is way to exceptional, even for a shithead like me
i dont know if this was discussed in this thread, but i remember when a cosplayer got harrased for cosplaying Dori because it was racist since she's supposed to be turkish but is light skinned.

This Cesspool has been present from the very first days. Cosplayer and artist getting harassed for not respecting the "very perfect skin tone" they're portraying has been a recurrent source of retarded drama and bullying, a few of them quit the fandom entirely because of death threats they've got just because of drawing a skin slightly lighter than it should have been or using expressions that some people thought it meant the author was a huge racist or an insensitive asshole (e.g. a pretty successful artist used the phrase "freed from the shackles" talking about how after their exams they'd finally be allowed more time to draw and have fun with the community, but what resulted from saying this was negative IQ fucks who gaslit themselves and others into thinking the artist was a racist person making fun of slaves from 300 years ago).
The major reason I drifted away from this game was the fandom itself. Creeps, pedos, or absolute braindamaged individuals who believe that a mild word genocides an entire group of people (another example i encountered was another artist who refrained from using the word "silly" because he got told it was ableist, lol). Just a concentration of either the biggest snowflakes or weirdest most degenerate people i've seen. Lolicons, incest and other type of degenerate sub humans are the reason i drift further and further away from any form of contact with anyone who enjoys anime

Motherfucker she's from a fictional country that uses a god damn magic tree as a computer that's loosely based on several real world ancient civilizations of countries aesthetically while taking inspiration from the mythology of those parts of the world. It takes a specific level of social media brainrot to even look at that character and go "ah yes why is she not dark skinned? Clearly, this game is racist!"

actually, i accidentally left out a bit of information. apparently people are mad at the cosplayer because she's "sexualizing a small child"...even tho Dori's meant to be a short teenager and the cosplayer was perfectly emulating her outfit and personality.
edit: im not saying sexualizing 14 year olds is good either. i'm just saying people forget dori is older than 9 and its not inherently sexual for someone to wear less clothing, especially if they live in a FUCKING DESERT.
i know the genshin fandom actually does have a pedo problem but cant you leave this woman alone she's just having fun. its not her fault she's older than the character she's dressed up as

I was more or less talking about the posts claiming it's racist she's not darker skinned.
Also that cosplay image is 100% NOT accurate to the character lmao. She's supposed to be a shady merchant not a fucking whore. As you can see in dori's character art there, she's got a sort of tight fitting black and dark brown crop top that covers the whole of the upper torso and has some gold detailing vaguely resembling a jagged heart shape if you squint enough, as well as a white tie with kind of ornate detailing on it's upper parts. The cosplayer changed it into a fucking loose fitting underboob window type of thing with mesh holes where the brown would be, and reduced the tie to just some white detail. The character has large baggy ass pants while the cosplayer has vaguely saggy felt pants. The character has diamond shaped john lennon-esque sunglasses while the cosplayer made it some weird face-pasted thing . There's more discrepancies but at the end of the day I think both of the people involved in this twitter scuffle are shit in their own ways. The fucking one post links to the thots god damn ONLYFANS I think that and the position they're in really just makes it clear they're not trying to be accurate to the character at all here.
Mildly related but I'm honestly surprised there aren't more of these kinds of always offended types claiming Dori is anti-semitic with how her personality is pretty much the fucking "happy merchant" meme minus the being a stereotypical jewish guy thing.

It's weird because Sumeru is a place that in-canon used to be two separate nations, but then one of the nations collapsed due to some eldritch terror ass shit taking place combined with the infighting of the rulers and upper class. There are actual dark skinned characters in Sumeru and the reason for them being there is that they're from that region specifically. Twitter doesn't think these people count because they're mostly non playable characters or do shit like claim they're still "too light skinned" or some shit like the claims about the raider enemies all being dark skinned npcs in sumeru being a racism thing rather than a "these guys are from treasure hunting bandit adventurer groups native to the desert part of sumeru" thing. They complained when the treasure hoarders from mondstat were all light skinned because "racism" too, there's literally no winning with these guys.

So Mtashed is quitting genshin basically. He made this video addressing the drama in general that he has somehow managed to generate over the years playing the game. Kind of funny, it feels like a bit of a "fuck you" to all those faggots who shit on him over the years as he heads out the door. I wasn't around in 2020 for the beginning but I've heard of his mental breakdown over the moral dilemma of promoting gambling to children before deleting his account to start a free to play one.
But the main problem he faced was, he didn't just suck mihomo's dick without question, and was one of the loudest voices crying for endgame content in this waifu collecting simulator. So he was banned from the discord, blacklisted from the media server that faggots like IShitToPissGaming and zy0x can access to create fully complete and edited guide videos on characters day 1 (mihomo is racist for preferring Asians over white piggu?), and people started calling him an asshole. I've watched a fair number of his videos over the last year or so and I can confidently say he is not an asshole and the underage genshin players are in the wrong here.
However.
At 19:01 he mentions how he was stuck between a rock and a hard place because he didn't really feel like playing anymore, but companies were quote "Dangling a big paycheck in front of you [him] saying 'hey, make an ad on your genshin impact video and we'll give you five grand, we'll give you seven grand.' " And he asks if you would quit, if that was you, and you were offered the choice between playing a shitty game you hated that made you seven grand a video, and not playing it. Now I don't know about the next guy but to me, that sounds like just about the most first world of problems, especially considering he has children and playing some dogshit chink game you hate is a much easier sacrifice to make than doing manual labor every day.
He concludes at 23:52 by saying that when someone makes a comment that his content is trash, that he is overweight, that he is unfunny, he wants them to imagine walking up to someone in their day job and saying that to their face. He is a person too, and he's not going to cry about it or anything because he understand it's just words, but it is terrible to read that stuff. And if that's his biggest problem in life, well he think he's doing just fine. Which begs the question of why he brought it up in the first place. He then reminds everyone again that he is in fact a human being, and that by commenting negatively on his videos, you are a piece of trash.
I was on his side until this part. There is no need to act holier than thou over a bunch of underage retards calling you an asshole because they're addicted to some anime game. Especially when you have undoubtedly made over a million dollars posting dipshit videos about it. I don't know if this was like some sort of therapy or what, but it reinforces what I said at the beginning, that it feels like a fuck you to all his haters as he leaves the building. If he doesn't want to leave with grace then that's fine but acting like you're so above the mean comments while so obviously being upset by them is ridiculous and people will only meme on you harder because of it.

Haven't heard the lines myself yet but literally nothing could be worse than the worst instances of english paimon doing the elmo-esque third person winging in screeching woman voice or the redub of barbara's lines in more stereotypical "waifu" voice not really fitting her personality they randomly dropped on people and retroactively claimed the original takes were "put in by accident" when meanwhile the other region barbaras still sound normal.
