If you want a vision of the future, picture a boot stamping on a human face, forever.

Take shelter. I don't know when it's coming, but it's coming. For the longest time I was like you, I thought if I spoke up, if I fought hard enough, if I toughed it out, we would recover what was lost, or better yet build something better. But, on reflection, that was naive. My loyalty is now to my family, so that we can survive the coming storm. Maybe my descendants will help build something new and better, but they can't do that if I don't survive the transition.

Whilst it was true that Brexit destroyed the industry I was working in and forced me to make a complete change of career just when I was getting somewhere, I never mentioned my own interests - it would have been powerlevelling for a start. I stayed and paid extortionate taxes in this shithole country for decades. In return this country spat in my face and told me that me and my values were not welcome. Values like liberty, justice, equality of opportunity, democracy and self-determination. Those are my values. He was amongst the last of a dying breed, an MP who really gave his all for his constituents and a really nice bloke.
