Legend of Zelda thread - Lorefags GTFO!

So let me get this straight

Some people say "This doesn't look very good." after seeing a direct, and fanboys say you can't judge a game without playing it, then some play it, and they say you can't judge it without playing it for hours upon hours.

Then when people play it for hours upon hours, the question becomes why they even play it if they actually hate it so it must actually be good and they do like it are are just trolling?

And the people that don't like TotK are the ones with the cope?

And the idea that you can't trust someone who doesn't like it because they always were going to hate it is retarded logic because on the same principle we can't trust fanboys because they were always going to like it.

At least one of these people have actually played the game...
People who'd defend Final Fantasy XIII would seriously say shit like "Well, the game picks up after about 20 hours, so therefore it's good and you just need patience". Imagine applying that to other forms of media. "Well, you can't really form an opinion on this movie until you've watched it at least 15 times."

I feel like two hours is a generous amount of time for a game to capture your interest, and if it doesn't have you by then, you're free to call it bad and chuck it into the sun.

I'm really starting to wonder if this actually was intentionally held back a year or two for a potential Switch successor, only for them to change their mind.

Like...this fucking took longer to develop than the original BotW? Something doesn't add up here, even with the bullshit Covid excuses. I used to think all that talk of Switch 2/Pro was bullshit but honestly how the fuck did this take 6 years to develop?
I can get behind that theory. They haven't even price dropped the Switch since its launch six years ago, which is a longer amount of time than many Nintendo platforms, even successful ones, were current. It's still selling like hotcakes, and I'm sure they got plenty of double dippers when the OLED model was released. Why bother marketing a brand new console when you're still printing money on ass-old hardware?

That being said, if TotK was originally planned for Nintendo's 10th generation system, you'd think they'd also crank out a few more remasters in the meantime. It's weird to think about how Wind Waker and Twilight Princess' HD versions are still stuck on Wii U, yet, there they are. And something I've expected and hoped for would be a port of A Link Between Worlds, but, that's stuck on dead & gay 3DS.

Oh boy, it was underground, and its 5 maguffins again (the first one is free!), they are really mixing things up, you would think this one would at least be different considering its the only thing in the game that actually requires you to do other things to access it. It's not even being classified by the game as a dungeon, its just a few buildings in the underground area, I don't think its even in an isolated zone, you just need the first maguffin from the quest chain to access it.

I have to transport the large heavy maguffins to the middle, so that means more banjoo kazooie nuts and bolts. Which I'll admit is the first for one of the dungeons

And yes I've been calling them dungeons, but these aren't actual zelda dungeons, they are divine beasts but slightly expanded.

This final one seems to be a gauntlet of banjoo kazooie, forcing you to create stored vehicles, meaning to do this you need to have vehicles saved AND have enough zonaite to craft them for the required parts. Good thing its in the underground minecraft area :)

How impatient.
Its not impacience its that they have no impulse control, these retards can't help themselves but click at every spoiler link and read it all, and then get mad they had they game spoiled for them, hence why they demand the game be released now.

I remember when the DragonBall Super movie came out, one guy in a Facebook group basically summarized the movie but he spoilered it something similar to this:

entire movie synopsis

And there where still a ton of faggots in the comments whining that he is an asshole for just spoiling the movie like that , even though they had several warnings not to read them they still went ahead and did it, and were now mad, to me thats literal NPC behavior, the fact that they can't help but not click on the link, or just scroll past, hell most social media lets you hid posts you don't want to see.

I've unironically met people like this, people have told me that X series gets really good "around season 6" meaning they expect me to watch 5 seasons of shit before the "good stuff" happens, same with movies Redditors will tell you that you need to watch films like Interstellar and Tenet around "6 to 8 times to truly appreciate them"

One Nintendo fanboy with whom I'm acquainted is still excited for this game, and I occasionally use his behaviour as a way to glance into the minds of such people. For reference, he's also an anime fan. One time we ended up in a yelling match, arguing about how the game is unbalanced, when I'd thought to mention it to him. His response was, and I'm trying my damnedest to not paraphrase here, If you take a detour around all of the cool stuff just because you can, then that's your fucking fault! and it astonished me.
He just today let me know he bought a second fucking Nintendo Switch for no reason other than that it's the Zelda limited edition one. It doesn't even come with the fucking game, since I asked him about that.

I believe TotK attempted something similar but it didn't scrap enough of BotW story to make sense, leaving this weird empty sense of discountinuity and retcons and making the Zonai feel like they appeared out of nowhere in the time skip between BotW and TotK
Last I checked BotW was supposed to be the endpoint for all three timelines... Would the retcon had made more sense if they had instead framed it as a timeline collision or switch to a different timeline?

6 years for an expansion pack?
Maybe they should include one of these bad boys with the game at launch

At this point it makes me wish they could just come out and say
"The timeline shit died at Link between worlds, all future games will be something else"
Because this retconing the 30 year old timeline is clearly only taken seriously by youtube lore fags and its only proving to be a detriment to new stories, that's why botw did great by not adhering strictly to it and only lightly referencing it.

I have a thought that they had a major change in development, there's a few things that were cut from the game like the ReDead and there's the early cutscene with Link and Zelda with them a pack bull, that wasn't seen in the leak

There's also them saying that the game was going to be "darker than majora's mask" according to early reviews and seem to have a possibly unaccessible twili robe in the game.
So yeah, it's very likely that there was issues with the game development.

That armour set is available from the Depths, it offers gloom resistance, the one on the right is the final design, more zonai than twili. There are no redeads, but there are gibos that I thought were redeads at first, but they have turned them into moth men instead of corpses. Stuff has changed though, like that one trailer that showed the ascend ability being like a drop of water, thats not there, the water drop animation is used for the backflash cutscenes instead.

I'm not sure what you mean about the missing cutscene, and I honestly can't really be bothered to sift through the old trailers and compare everything.

Stuff in the artbook is in the game, the artbooks released with games by nintendo are all art from stuff in the game. The cut artwork is available later in the standalone art/design books.

There is actually remnants of the old ascend, which I think would have been limited to bodies of water below stuff instead of anywhere. On the way to the final dungeon there are a bunch of pillars with zonai brickwork below that have a circle of water, so they probably intended to have ascend be limited to specific locations, but then changed it to anywhere. Meaning the water drop wouldn't fit anymore.

Getting conflicting reports on the quality of TOTK both from here and elsewhere. Some are loving it, while others are underwhelmed.

All I can say is, no offense to you Epoch, but I'm still going to have to play it for myself, not rely on impressions from these leaks. A lot of the stuff you say is poor about the game, such as the underground, others have had no problem with, and even praise. It's all subjective after all.

For me at least, based on everything I've heard, this is a sequel in the vein of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Doom 2, and Thief 2. One that doesn't exactly add a whole bunch of new mechanics, but hones in and polishes all the strengths of the first.

How the fuck do you get past the first shrine? The part with the two hooks and the wooden crate to stand on and cross the gap?
