Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

Cops are instead interested in prosecuting white men who have edgy memes on their phone (basically every white man in the country).
its easier
why risk your life taking out actual criminals, maybe even your career if someone arbitraily decided the criminal was a goode boy who dindu nuffin and now your life is fucked, if you can fill out your quota just as well by getting some harmless teens in trouble

the part that stands out most to me is the part where she talks about how companies make you wanna buy from them more by being rude to their customers
Luxury consumers are masochistic status-seeking idiots, basically, and you put them on your hook by mistreating them and making them believe they have to be worthy of the products rather than the other way around.

From reddit it seems like Hermès customers seem to have to buy a lot of junk stuff in order to create a "purchase history" before they can get what they trully want: usually a Birkin or a Kelly handbag. But before that they buy shoes, clothes, accessories, plaids, (Markle has the Hermès Plaid)

It's actually low-key amazing how those brands are able to milk their customers. I am in awe.

r/handbags is full of crazy people with too much money

its probably also an attempt to make them feel like they belong to some kinda special club, a part of a "family", something exclusive
this notion that exclusivity means something is better is ridiculous
im sure the club of people who eat dog poo everyday is quite small but that doesnt make it good company
is it true that in order to play Warhammer, you have to own official sets and figurines, unlike other tabletop rp games where you can build your own?
if so, whats stopping groups of players from saying 'lol fuck that' and just having a session with homemade crap anyway?

Another prime example of a consoomer treating collecting like speed running. It's especially dumb because of how much effort it takes to build and paint a kit, I doubt those boxes are even open. Also why get into warhammer now when long time fans are jumping ship due to price increases?

You can use home made stuff, I got a 3d printer so I can print fan proxies and custom bits. The issue is that GW stores also host games and a lot of players gravitate there. So it's official or nothing with maybe a bit of leeway for 3rd party heads or other small bits, a lot of tournaments are the same way too.

Another reason is that the re-sell market for those bags seems to be booming, they created so much scarcity around their products that it's sometimes possible to resell them for more (if i have to believe reddit gossip) so it's making it harder for people to be able to just buy a bag and flip it immediatly.

So while I don't actually play 40k myself, I absorbed some knowledge from people who do. You could get away with placeholders when playing a private game like friends or a standard game store, in fact, they used to encourage people to make their own stuff. If you want to play in an official store, you have to own the actual models and they are notorious assholes about it.

I decided to take a peek at the sold listing some some of my childhood video games I still have chugging along.

After checking the prices of just 4 of them, they are worth almost $2,000 collectively. Holy shit the retro market is more insane than when I checked 2 years ago.

I still play a lot of my old shit every year or two, but I sold some N64, Gameboy and SNES games that are way overpriced now, bought some good flash carts, pocketed like $500 and I still have the ability to play everything I played before. As long as you still have your original hardware, the games still play indistinguishable from an original cart on the flashcart. I have no idea why someone would pay $200 for Conker's Bad Fur Day when you could buy a flashcart that plays it and every other N64 game for half that.

Collectors are funny like that. I intend to finally offload the games though. Like you said I have no need for them other than the nostalgia that I've had these since I was a kid. I don't need my original 1993 cart to relive the game. If someone wants to pay me $500 for a game with manual, I'm not going to stop them right now. Maybe a few years ago I would have felt bad and tossed someone a bone, but if the mouth breathers and "investors" will pay it so be it. I smell a bubble about to burst in that market soon.

These carts simply will not last forever either. I think we're about to hit a hard limit on their lifespan because the stored data will stop being stored. Carts will wipe themselves. There will be no worth in keeping these things in a couple decades beyond simply putting them on shelves.

The shrink wrap on those unopened ones will probably biodegrade before then.
Once that happens, I'm hoping to see people finding a fucked up Wayne Gretzky Hockey in their pristine, never opened "CIB" boxes of Chrono Trigger one day.

That is another way but even opened games will inevitably fail. I'm seeing that due to being ROM based NES type carts will probably have a few more years left in them generally, but I'm hearing 50 something years which for earlier titles will be within that 20 year mark. By the 2040s I am guessing Atari titles, nes/master system titles will begin to be paperweights. For flash storage based carts like have been utilized for several decades including in the gameboy lineup and the switch things don't look nearly as hot. The issue more relates to if you don't power your game up for a long period of time but for collectors they simply do not play most of what they have so it's going to be a problem.

Judging by your username you seem to be the right person to expand on this
Ferrari is one of those companies that's very big on their image, the whole company is a racing company that sells civilian market cars to fund their racing programs. When you buy a Ferrari you're buying an "experience" you become part of the "family" and they basically start keeping tabs on you for when they drop their special edition and anniversary edition cars. If you suck Ferrari's dick hard enough and project the proper Ferrari image as a "brand ambassador" you get put on the list (or at least higher up the list) for limited run cars.

I think Jay Leno summed up Ferrari the best when he described them as a dominatrix.

People obsessed with luxury goods will often bribe salespeople with gifts, dinners and even vacations in an attempt to climb higher on waiting lists for desirable items such as Hermès Birkins, Rolex Submariners and Patek Philippe Nautilus'.

It's not unusual for people to spend 6 figures on products they don't want (clothes, jewellery, home decor etc.) in order to establish a sales history with a company while in pursuit of specific items.

Even after they've spent thousands on unnecessary purchases they have to attend what is essentially an interview prior to being given permission to buy what they wanted all along:

https://youtu.be/k8P47rUMTcQ

But, as seen in the video, the girl wasn't even offered what she originally wanted. Yes, she paid $8k USD for something she didn't really want. This is all part of the plan.

Luxury companies are obsessed with artificial scarcity. They will typically offer customers a version of the item they want but not exactly what they're after in order to preserve the air of exclusivity and prestige that surrounds certain items. This also ensures return customers hoping to finally nail that 'grail' item they've been longing for.

If you refuse an exclusive item offered by a salesperson you're less likely to be offered exclusive items in the future. This obviously encourages unnecessary purchases in order to maintain your reputation as a reliable customer.

If you're caught reselling items you will be contacted by these companies, scolded like a child and blacklisted:

https://youtu.be/W2RgPRhbxY4?t=1209

But, as mentioned by other posters, this is what the luxury-obsessed want. Exclusivity means everything to them.

Well... you will have money, if you sell it all lol

People got into Warhammer because of being stuck inside in 2020, that and new vidya games coming out. He's bought them planning to build them on the weekends i bet, not realizing that's a years + worth.
