Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Taking away children's media in order to pander to the mentally-unwell is twisted, and spreading that mental illness to the children through the last remaining bastions of what they have to watch (for entertainment!) is outright evil and should not just be accepted as normal
If something were actually good it could have as many trannies as it liked and I wouldn't care.

I even liked stuff like Hedwig and the Angry Inch even though it was arguably the thin edge of the wedge.

The problem is it's nearly universal that this shit SUCKS.

There's also a Totally Spies video game coming out next year too
That already exists:

I meant moreso the people who acted like kids cartoons were super duper deep and actually for adults.
Prior to the last couple months, I barely saw anything like that. It was mostly stuff like The Prince of Egypt getting praised, people like the meme Pop-Tart posted were somewhat rare unless you sought them out. My only problem with those people is how insecure they are at liking animation.
It just seems like hugbox bait, i think it might be cause modern DreamWorks directors/writers are so cucked. I hated that scene in the movie cause it just seemed like legitimising mental illness as something normal or positive, which is why i think it seems like hugbox bait cause that's what tumblrite hugbox shows do. It's an insult to call this film adult animation, it's like something which would've been par for the course in 99 2000. Hunchback of notre dame literally had the villain burn down a house of gypsies cause they were "inhuman scum" while this film pretends mental illness is cool and being scared of death is edgy.
Like others here have said, I'm not sure why you think it's "hugbox bait". Being afraid of your own mortality is a thing most people have, and a character accepting their mortality is a genuinely mature message for a kid's film.
this defeatist mindset is exactly why people keep complaining
regardless of whether it's the norm, it is fundamentally wrong and it deserves to be criticized and rallied against
granted, mindlessly repeating "this is woke it is bad" isn't exactly my favorite form of critique, though sometimes it's worth doing if it really is the largest issue plaguing a show (and that's usually because wokeness comes hand in hand with TERRIBLE writing: eg Velma, Moon Girl, etc)
I do wish the thread could focus on other shit sometimes, but just laying down and taking this gross shit like you're doing gives me reason to just want more of it instead

I get what you mean, but this has been going on for almost a decade now if you want to count Gamergate as a starting point. This stuff has only become more prevalent no matter how much criticism, mockery and getting broke gets hurled on those products, so a lot of people are deciding it isn't worth getting upset over anymore or worth paying attention to.

I just finished this series and all I can say is that the ending of episode 13 was a trip. I don’t normally like watching what amount to advertisements to sell toys, but this one was so bad it was enjoyable.

In some surprising news, Chris Savino is Back. And he's joined a Christian Streaming Service known as Loor TV.

and he's also developing a cartoon for them called "Busted Bible Stories"

If I had a nickel for every former Nickelodeon creator who tried to create a Christian media conglomerate, I'd have 2 nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Oh yeah Evangelicals always make religion a hard sell. Seems like Loor might be more catholic so there should be less emphasis on God and all that and more on family values and such.
I mean, I may say that at least Savino isn't doing something as scummy as Hartman at this rate...?
