Wasn't this what VShojo was? They manage talents and only took a cut from merch and sponsorships that they got, everything else(like dono, subs) they didn't take a cent
Vshojo does far more than a talent agency. They are basically a MCN like the other Vtuber corpos, but they don't literally own their talents like them. A talent agency doesn't handle management related shit. And, judging by how three of their most prominent members left the company over contract shenanigans, it seems like, at least initially, they were planning to change their pay cut (and a talent agency wouldn't take a cut from merch or sponsorships; they get paid by their clients after the deals go thru).
I feel like the Harassment was a major factor, but Pomu may have been telling the truth about her discussing the idea in January. I don't think this was all some master plan by Pikamee or Kson or anyone, just how things worked out.
seems like everyone forgot she already took a break before the whole troon drama. but yeah, it totally was the harry potter thing alone, obviously.
or how she said she likes streaming and implied she can't really do anything else, to the point people IN THIS VERY THREAD could already see her coming back quite soon. which is apparently bad now or something.
Here's the thing. Pikamee was clearly not trying to leave immediately. She was going to stream Hogwarts Legacy, which is a 40+ hour game. Would have taken her at least a month to go through that game. There were plenty of other things as well; she had paid for a new model, was planning to participate in events and collabs, was shooting for streaming milestones, etc. TheAlmightyLoli went over a lot this in his great video on the Hogwarts Legacy issue:
Point is, all indications are that Pikamee was not going to immediately abandon her persona. While she may have been thinking about it or in early talks, she wasn't going to do so soon. Then. the Hogwarts Legacy shit happened. And then came the doxing, harassment, personal attacks, etc. Now, the Pikamee character is toxic, and she wants to distance herself from it. Kson probably helped smooth over a lot of things and
there are indications from Kson herself that those who remained with Vshojo managed to negotiate a good contracts with them due to some of their top earners leaving. She probably took care of her girl and Kson is more than likely the only reason Pikamee is even with Vshojo. So I don't treat this as Pikamee joining VShojo, more like Pikamee is joining her friend Kson. Henya is being portrayed as some kind of "bridge" between JP and EN branches of Vshojo, but she'll probably hang out more with the JP members, even if she primarily streams in English. Hell, it was Kson herself who confirmed that the harassment was why Pikamee gave up her persona. Kson is basically helping to manage the JP side of Vshojo at this point, so this is really about her more than its about Vshojo.
What's more infuriating is that the usual suspects on Twitter are now using Henya's reveal to be Pikamee to basically downplay or outright rewrite history on their disgusting actions, trying to act like what they did didn't happen or is somehow now "okay" because "it wasn't the reason Pikamee graduated". First of all, it clearly was a factor, if not the only factor. Second, even if it wasn't a factor, it doesn't make any of the bullshit these troons did to her okay.
Of course the attacks on Pikamee/Henya haven't let up. Its just that now the focus has shifted to her being a lolicon, with the usual suspects trying to say she's a pedophile. Interestingly,
this tweet points out that her Oshi mark, the little red emoji next to her name on Twitter, is actually a representation of the nametags Japanese grade schoolers wear. Yes, really. Its called a Nafuda, and its worn by preschoolers. I'll let
Sora News Explain it:
It’s a drawing of a tulip-shaped nafuda, or name badge, like the ones commonly worn by Japanese preschoolers, with a white space in which to write the child’s name...It’s used when you’re talking about preschools, your young kids, and other early childhood topics.
Its a very...interesting mark to be used by a talent known for being a lolicon, for sure. But its a primarily Japanese meme. Unfortunately, from what I understand,
this emoji was used as a "super secret" callsign by MAPs (read actual pedophiles) on Twitter, basically as a way to identify each other without openly identifying as such. Pikamee knows nothing about western internet culture (see the whole Hogwarts Legacy mess), and almost certainly is using it within the Japanese context, but its still unfortunate. However, on the other hand, apparently MAPs no longer use the symbol since
actual Lolicons (read people who only like loli characters in anime, hentai and manga) would mass report their asses and brigade them, specifically to chase the bastards out and stop them from using anime culture as a shield. So its apparently no longer a commonly used symbol in western Twitter culture.
