Because 4chan missed not one chance to cuck to the mainstream up to and including wordfilters, shadowbans and basically every feature you'd associate with modern reddit. And their reward for 'cleaning up their act'? The people that would have supported them now despise them and view them as a joke, and normies will still take potshots at them and try to ban them after every IRL fedpost. After sitting on /pol/ the entire week Kiwifarms was down. /pol/ is probably the most permissable board, has a few things many posters with hidden flags, will slide out, shill against relentlessly, and eventually 404 (no archive) - mod intervention. These are my observations of patterns of what the people shilling/controlling the board don't like in thread subject.

Not the kind of word filter I'm referring to. I'm referring to their known censorship of GamerGate back in 2014, then later Isabella Loretta Janke. And I outright said the wrong thing with shadowbans. They hand out regular bans, just at an alarming frequency and often for reasons mentioned above, if not something dumber than that. And before you try the "4chan always hands out arbitrary bans!" defense, no. There is a substantive difference between handing out jokey temp bans for shitposting and handing out permabans for mentioning a forbidden name.

Previously you'd get a ban for mentioning some arbitrary thing but only because some profoundly autistic mod didn't like it. Now it's a whole list of things drafted by a council of troons on Discord and it's an instaban every time. That's a post-moot-cucking phenomenon, and it's now an all boards thing.

/an/ is the sort of board you think sounds charming until you remember the old adage that no board likes their subject matter. No one hates animals and nature more than furries, specifically zoosadists, and you'll never find them in short supply. There are Million Pity posters who will sometimes try to post their content if they think they can get away with it, but the hatred for other animals isn't exclusive. Cats in particular draw a lot of negative attention. The sorts of posts talking about how they're vermin that should be exterminated is incredibly similar to MP posters describing monkeys. Small pets don't generally receive negative attention but you'll occasionally see pics of them dead. There was an anon that posted a picture of a hamster he suffocated in a plastic bag relatively recently.

The entire board isn't terrible but it's pretty clearly inhabited by some truly awful people. Definitely worse than other boards where, at worst, you can really only say that they are retarded.
