I think making trailers is just her way of pretending to be doing something useful. Her last interaction with her kickstarter backers, 4 weeks ago, said she was going to be finishing the trailers up that very week.
Maybe she could have salvaged her company if she'd just recut the march trailer with the right date, set a release date and launched the fucking thing. Now though? Amanda has quit, so RIP gamedev career.
(Also, by my count she's been on two different vacations since May, one over a week long. I think she throws hysterics at home with Frank about how stressful her life is and he indulges her with the childish stuff she enjoys doing, even if it screws up his calendar at work.)
Actually, IIRC one of the main theories behind why GSK ever existed was Flynt intended for it to only make the one game - R60 - and then exploit the shit out of backchannel review connections to make the PoS look good, which in turn would allow Flynt to sell off GSK
and the R60 'franchise' at a tidy profit, becoming eternally idolized like Notch or Phil Fish (the latter only so far until it was made common knowledge he fucking stole the majority of what became
Fez and he didn't have any fucking plans to make a sequel for a game he didn't actually make the majority of in the first place...sounds familiar, don't it?)
The blunder was part bad luck and part sheer fucking hubris. The former was the game not launching with its under-the-table-bought stellar reviews by people who never actually fucking played R60
just before the GG controversy rapidly encompassed the entire review scene as being corrupt as hell, since then the credibility the R60 reviews were supposed to have simply by being on formerly-respected sites immediately became suspect for the same reason. The
latter was Wu's fucking stupid idea to ride that shit all the way and make R60 some kind of poster child of the anti-GG organization, promoting it as a super-progressive game for women even though as we have since learned it was intentionally anything
but.
R60 Special
Education Edition was an attempt to keep the cash cow going in light of Wu stupidly saying it would go to Steam - most likely
before they realized Apple and every-fucking-thing else is
incompatible. It is telling how after two years the only sign o any actual gameplay improvement is
screenshots that are just 'typing of the dead' quicktime events that probably don't even work. But, like, even
Mighty Number 9 eventually got shat out in the time it's taken Wu to make a 'special edition' of a
fucking ios app game, and each individual 'phase' of Duke Nukem Forever development following each graphics engine rebuild took less time too.
That's right, I said it -
Duke Fucking Nukem Forever took less time in each incarnation when it was being actively worked on than Wu has needed to even make a playable port that would take most people a week at most.
