It's always struck me as odd, this incredible frailty of "progressives": words are violence, mild restrictions are genocide. Even the most cursory look at historical revolutionary left-wing movements should make you realise that you should expect hardship (and be expected to be resilient in the face of that hardship) when trying to change the world.

While it might feel that "progressives" such as Tony do want to change the world — normalise their bizarre sexual fetishes and the body modification of children used to justify those fetishes — really they are just purchasing a different path in a neoliberal market, where anything is available for a price. Their outrage is the outrage of the customer who expects to always be right.

To add to what Geranium posted above, Tony's so ignorant that he doesn't realize stores do this constantly for all kinds of shit. The manager asks some kid to take care of it, the kid asks why, the manager says "I don't know, came down from corporate" and nobody thinks about it ever again. Guess what happened at corporate? Some executive asked some kid to write a message to all the stores, the kid asked why, the executive said "I don't know, got some complaints or something" and nobody thinks about it ever again.

Why isn't Tony finding out what else Food City (16,000+ employees) ordered all the stores to remove from the shelves this week? Because he doesn't care, none of that would fit the narrative he's trying to force no matter what. It'd only complicate things rather than reaffirm the fear Tony wants to sell to all his customers in hopes of personal benefit.
