Twitter isn't Twitter because Jack Dorsey successfully implemented an open-source standard to federate between ActivityPub instances, Twitter is Twitter because it's easy to use and the servers stay up.The point is KFcc can go offline and yet everything just organically self-heals as people shift to alts and continue on as normal.
Kiwi Farms isn't Kiwi Farms because Null successfully implemented an open-source standard to federate between XenForo instances, Kiwi Farms is Kiwi Farms because the servers stay up and people enjoy posting.
Profile ownership in Mastadon is a fucking mess. You can't migrate accounts from an offline server, so as you said you have a "shift to alts," which is the same as just making an alt on a tight, secure, non-fucky-wucky-fedewated Twitter clone.
Federation and decentralization is fucking stupid, annoying and confusing for normies, and an utterly pointless unnecessary complication. Restricting yourself to software that conforms to these byzantine standards is absolutely insanely retarded. The only "federation" you need is, at the absolute most, an HMAC-based method to identify account ownership across servers. We call these tripcodes.
