Welcome back to Dunder Mifflin . . . with a twist. An Australian version of “The Office” is in production, but this time, instead of being led by Michael Scott, a female boss Hannah Howard (played by Felicity Ward) will be in charge. The American version of the hit show, which aired from 2005 to 2013, was a mockumentary about the quirky employees of a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania, helmed by blowhard Scott (Steve Carell). The original British version, which aired from 2001 to 2003, was helmed by David Brent (Ricky Gervais). Now, move aside Scott and Brent — a woman can be an obnoxious, incompetent boss, too. “I’m very excited about Australia remaking my little show from the turn of the century,” Gervais told Variety. “Office politics have changed a bit in 20 years, so can’t wait to see how they navigate a modern-day David Brent.”

The Down Under version of the show will have Howard as the managing director of a packaging company called Flinley Craddick. After COVID-19, she must deal with the news that her branch is shutting down and her staff will have to work from home. This sends her into outrageous schemes to keep her “work family” together. This will mark a whopping 13th adaptation of the hit comedy, which has also seen different versions in France and Israel. Although the American version of show is widely regarded as a hit — as it has enjoyed a second life on streaming, pulling in a new generation and countless memes — it had a rocky start. According to the book “Welcome to Dunder Mifflin: The Ultimate Oral History of ‘The Office’” by Brian Baumgartner (who played Kevin Malone) and Ben Silverman (an executive producer), when Carell told Paul Rudd that he was auditioning for the American version of “The Office,” Rudd advised him, “Ugh, don’t do it. Bad, bad move. I mean, it’s never going to be as good [as the British version].”

In that same book, series star John Krasinski recalled that an NBC executive used to come in and tell the cast about the show’s imminent cancellation. “He was like, ‘This will be the last [episode] … It’s just not getting the ratings and the network doesn’t get it.’ He said that every week of the first season,’ ” Krasinski recalled. Over a decade later, they’re having the last laugh, as the show has now lasted long enough to gender-flip the Michael Scott character. In addition to Ward, the Australian version of the show will also co-star Shari Sebbens (“Thor: Love and Thunder”), Edith Poor (“The Power of the Dog”), Jonny Brugh (“What We Do in the Shadows”), Steen Raskopoulos (“The Duchess”), Josh Thomson (“Young Rock”) and Pallavi Sharda (“The Twelve”). The Aussie version of “The Office” will stream on Prime Video at an unannounced date in 2024.

Calling it now - it'll be a misandrist, unfunny, "grrrl-power" comedy.

After COVID-19, she must deal with the news that her branch is shutting down and her staff will have to work from home.
So right away we're falling off of the first hurdle by making the company NOT work in the office... you know, that thing that's in the fucking title and was the whole point of the british and american show!

What fucking hijinks can possibly occur at people's houses unless they make the characters complete bumbling bafoons to where the simplest things become a crisis event? "Oh no, [insert woman actor name here] toasted her hair with the curling iron so now she looks retarded when people see her in the Zoom meeting. WOW THAT'S SO WACKY!!!"

how did it take so long for something as popular as The Office to get this treatment?

I think another major pitfall here is that they're setting it during the COVID pandemic. Who wants to hear about the COVID crap again? I certainly don't, most things that did get released mid pandemic avoided talking about it, because even then (or perhaps especially then) no one wanted to hear about it from their entertainment.

This sounds like the Australian version of Broad City she even looks like the unfunny super jew Ilana Glazer from it.
I didn't really like Broad City but I will say that at least in that show the titular Broads were borderline femcels who were just as gross, lazy, stupid, and incompetent as their male counterparts.

In 2023 you can't even write a flawed female character without being screeched at by sjws.

the only show actually mentioning covid and it being part of the plot that ive seen with some success was the show "Bear". It just mentioned the restaurant was struggling during the covid era and that was it. (To be fair the restaurant struggle was because of its addict owner and the subsequent owners following his suicide).

Its literally verbotten by the cuntstapo to say anything remotely bad about women, plus every incompetent female boss I know bought into the girlboss shit as a cope for her retarded decisions so off the start you cant say shit without angering the feminazis

Ironically enough it would been easier to make this during the 2000s when you could still write female characters who are shit people or just borderline retarded, today if you have a character like michael it has to be male, and in some cases it also has to be white and straight else you get BS because he makes minorities and gays look bad

Also the actress looks like a troon but that was probably intentional
After COVID-19, she must deal with the news that her branch is shutting down and her staff will have to work from home
This shit its already at least 2 years too late, the chink coof is over and normalfags hate being reminded it happened and that they ate up all that propaganda and scaremongering shit
Making a remake of a remake of a show about a paper company in 2023, + girlboss. Get AI to write better material.
AI refused to write this shit, its 100% average feminist writer retardness

I've come to dread stumbling upon Youtube videos made in 2020 that always mentioned "staying strong" during this "difficult time". It perfectly dates everything from that time period like a tree ring made of dogshit.

Oh, JOY.

Another reboot of a 'comedy', which was as White Bread as loaf of Wonder. When you have 30-something unmarried, dusty-creviced women gushing about an unfunny show and then you proceed to REBOOT the fucking thing...JFC.

Is there absolutely no talent left? Also, the 'female' subject above looks like a K-Mart knock-off of the fuckin' Borg Queen.

Thank you for teaching me new bad words, senpai.

Whatever laughs I may have had watching The Office back in high school are now only a distant memory. Now I associate it with vapid, basic-bitch normalfaggotry.
they tried doing this within the last few seasons of the US Office itself (Nellie) and nobody liked her
They should have ended it when Michael left and Jim and Pam got married. The seasons with Will Farrell and Jim Carrey were agonizingly unfunny.
