I've never lived in a group home myself but I've been in therapy groups with people who do. The impression I get is they're a mixed bag. Better than institutionalization tho.

There was this kid in my class in elementary school who I heavily suspect of being on the spectrum, he was really into Sonic and weirdly strong for his age. He threw one of those plastic chairs with the metal legs at another kid narrowly missing him.

Oh I don't have a question or anything, I just enjoy recalling this story because I'm a weird person who finds this sort of thing amusing.

I'm guessing your alternative school was a behavioral high school? We had one of those where I worked I subbed at sometimes.

I got to work in the lower floors where the really the really low functioning ones were. You have never lived btw until you as a young woman are told to help roll the obese retarded dwarf to the mat so they can lift him up. Spoiler it takes 6 people to wrangle an violent obese dwarf tard.

I thik as the weight/height ratio gets larger the more violent they get.

It wasn't a high school but yeah it was a school for the kids with behavior problems (pretty much entirely kids with trauma) to be warehoused when regular schools got sick of dealing with them. It had kids from elementary to high school age and two sides, one for BD elementary kids and the other for kids of all ages with development disabilities sorted roughly by functioning level. When I first got there I was the youngest kid in my class and I think the only middle schooler.

The most violent kids there were actually the elementary schoolers, the tards were usually behaved but on the occasion they weren't it was scary since some were big.

We had two tards in our 5-8 primary school, I'll always remember them. Both got bullied pretty bad, but one got away easier cause he could play football, even though he was completely retarded, and it was made worse as the school specialty was math/physics. The other was just a large, impotent blob of scared-of-life type.
Their parents wanted them to be normal so damn bad that they did not consider taking them out, so they obviously started to fail tests and eventually remained to repeat entire years. The blob eventually became a priest, the other... I have no idea, but boy was he not ready for anything other than throw/kick ball
