There are bars but they are small yes. On the upside, we have a lot of other stuff, are throwing, bowling, arcades, etc.

So in other words, they think Utah is "boring" because most of the entertainment there actually is family friendly. Utahans seek entertainment elsewhere other than alcohol, loud music, or pornographic theater.

There is internet porn, but frankly, that's bad enough.

Furfag talks about how much he hated living in provo, how sterile it all was, while presenting a photo of enormous houses, and a beautiful view of Mt Timpanogos.
Yes, you read that correctly, he prefers Chicago.

Keep in mind, Utah has high birth rates, low crime rates, relatively lax gun laws, and is racially homogeneous.

Basically, every moonbat's worst nightmare. You gotta have scholars beating the crap out of each other, shit flowing down the street, and dirty needles and crackheads all over the place and shrieking like howler monkeys.

Oh yeah, and falling asleep to the sound of gunfire. Lovely.

I keep forgetting the these "people" absolutely detest nature. Describing that image as sterile and soulless, when there's a beautiful mountain range in the background, is completely bizarre to me. If I didn't already live in a naturally beautiful state I would definitely live in Utah. With the amount of stunning views and outdoor activities the state has to offer, it would probably take half a lifetime to enjoy it all. Being so far removed from the urban lifestyle, I just can't wrap my head around the idea of seeing the natural landscape as something to be despised, to the point where you'd want it defiled by a concrete hell.

That's because Urb*nists are sick in the head. You sorround an Urb*nist with beutifulnature and he/she will have an absolute meltdown. There literally was a reddit post where one of them admitted to breaking down in such a situation.

It also reminds me how people think liminality is creepy, as if they need constant noise and chatter to not feel scared and alone.

So many people describe Utah as a naturally occurring liminal space, a Minecraft chunk error. Hey, if it stops moonbats from moving to Utah and fucking it up, that's fine by me.

Sure I can't play or drink while driving but I can do both those things in more comfortable setting because I get home early do having a car.

shit, you can even play vidya in a game if you have someone else driving

and since many people who drive have actual families who love them, they often get a chance to do just that

I know fuckcars loves vice, but does anyone think they'll talk about this?

I mean they admit their strongest argument is that "if you build roads people will use them" and yet it seems "you can build transit and people say fuck off"

Sounds like the main reason for the decline in ridership is the braindead decision to get rid of timed transfers so it's no longer time efficient to take the train to Brooklyn:
Article said:
The biggest impact this had was eliminating timed transfers, or when two trains going to different places are scheduled to arrive at the same station—ideally across a platform—so people can easily switch from one to the other. Timed transfers at Jamaica were central to the LIRR because of the system’s design, with branches on one end, multiple termini on the other, and one meeting point in the middle. The key for a timed transfer is that if one train is delayed a small amount of time, say a matter of minutes—a frequent occurrence on the notoriously imprecise LIRR—the other will hold at the station so people can still transfer. For the last 50 years, that’s what LIRR did.

But ESA eliminated the timed transfers at Jamaica. Now, if, say, a Brooklyn shuttle is three minutes late getting into Jamaica, the connecting train going to people’s final destination might not wait. Moreover, because of the new platform for the Brooklyn shuttle, the transfers are no longer cross-platform. They are called “up and over” transfers where people have to go up stairs, across an overpass, and down to the scheduled track, which can take several minutes, adding to the possibility of a missed connection. And if the shuttle is crowded, there could be hundreds of people trying to get up and over, resulting in crowding and more delays and missed connections. If you miss your connection, you have to wait until the next scheduled train, which could be anywhere from 10 minutes to a half hour or more, depending on the time of day. The end result is that some people are getting better service to the east side of Manhattan while others have unreliable and potentially disastrous commutes and have to worry about whether they will make connections by a matter of seconds.

When comparing travel times, urbanists never count time walking to/from stations, time spent waiting for the bus/train to arrive, and time spent waiting for connections, so I doubt they will care until they personally have to use this train. Hypocritically though, they get mad when a driver doesn't count the time it takes to walk across the parking lot.

Also, how do you spend $11 Billion on a train station? My city has a $1 Billion dollar development but it's a massive complex with a dozen large buildings, not a single building.

That's the magic of the MTA, and New York in general. You can give them all the money in the world you want and it won't improve shit one bit. NYC's inflated $100 Billion budget is higher than some small countries.

I've returned lol. But yes. Outdoor activities are pretty encouraged, along with a lot of nerd shit because the majority of the population doesn't drink, smoke, or go to strip clubs; we have more board games here than practically anywhere.

The outdoors of Utah is the best part. Buy a tent and go camping at the MANY sites. Go hiking, hunting, the world is your oyster. And that in itself acts as a filter, which I'm happy about

I would like to see that dorky guy trying to peacefully play his Nintendo Switch on your average big city American public transportation without getting verbally abused (at best) or beaten and robbed (at worst) by the regular clientele that uses trains, buses, etc. in the U.S. You don't even to want to pull out your cell phone for a second depending on who is riding along with you. These arrogant, sheltered Reddit brats really have no clue about how animalistic and dangerous a decent size portion of the U.S. population really is. There are many reasons that people would rather use cars instead of public transport, but one of the main ones is because no one wants to deal with feral, shitty people who are dangerous to simply be around.

The "just use cargo bikes bro, we don't need no trucks" is fucking hilarious to me. Assuming a semi-truck is half-full, it will weigh up to 20,000 pounds. The best quality of cargo bike can carry 400 pounds; literally 1/50th the goods. So in their moronic idea, if I'm giving them a very generous analysis, you'd need at least 50 times the number of people working transport to provide for our modern day society. That's 50 million transport workers in America, or roughly 2/13ths of the current population.

Literally zero thought went into that idea. I'd also love to see how a cargo bike is supposed to move one of the 10 ton ingots I've seen at work. What are we supposed to do? Strap 50 cargo bikes together like they're fucking sled-dogs to get them around the country?

That's exactly what you're supposed to do. Throw away every advance of the last two hundred years, steam engines included, because you can make cars with those, and go back to sleds, Pyramids of egypt style, slaves and all motherfucker

The only situation in which a cargo bike would be a good idea would be in a zombie outbreak as described in the Zombie Survival Guide. Maneuverability even when the roads are blocked with abandoned vehicles.

But even then I'd prefer a gas-powered ATV instead.

Hell, even the author's hatred of pickup trucks is unjustified. You want something that can carry as much shit as you can out, gas efficiency be damned, especially since the goal isn't gas efficiency per say, but how far you can actually go until the big-ass tank is out of petrol.

This is your autistic digression for today.

i think this is in reference to like pickup trucks not semis. granted you can carry far more heavy shit in one of those too compared to cargo bikes but if we're just talking general shit like groceries, carrying lighter objects, stuff like that, it's probably fine. heavier shit would probably need a van or small truck and you can just rent those or pay someone to do it for you if you really need to

Heavy as fuck, but I can only imagine that most of these people aren't in good health anyway.

I think many of them would change their tune pretty quickly if they were required to stack that much shit on a cargo bike.

I say this as someone who is used to walking/biking very long distances, distances considered "unwalkable" by these cretins.
