reddit General

I wasn't gonna read this because tl;dr but after reading the comments, I'll PL and sperg out because this is one of the worst pedo fanfics i've ever read.

as a kid, i've had the chance to go on mutliple field trips from local parks to 3 hours out of my hometown. first off, you never leave the group you came inwith and if you do, you'd always be with another adult. another thing that was required was that we always had to wear our school uniforms (bc sometimes other schools went at the same time as us and I'm assuming so it would be easier to spot us in case some kid ran off). and thirdly, no reasonable teacher would just LOSE a kid. it's not like your wallet fell out of your pocket and now you have to get new cards and ID. it's a child. especially a child with autism. i don't believe for a fucking second that some dimwitted teacher gave a child (let alone a disabled one) ample time to get kidnapped, taken out of a disney park, and put in a hotel. so you're meaning to tell me this whole time, nobody could spot out the ONE DISABLED KID that got kidnapped you brought on a school trip? also, lol at children coming home from a school trip at 10pm-11pm. idk about you guys, but latest i've ever gotten home was right before 8pm.

i could keep sperging about this one story, but I think I'm more MATI at the fact some degen would even make up some story like this for reddit karma. fuck you
While I doubt its real, my school had many field trips where they just gave kids a group to stay in and a check in time and let them roam free. I've also had many (probably most of of town) field trips where we came back 10-11pm. It's impossible they would come back without the fucking kid though. Especially one that was to be supervised at all times. She would've been on fucking lockdown, especially if she was as mentally deficient as this post makes her out to be. Florida fanfiction is getting too crazy these days.

Jannies may have deleted this but a little while ago there was a post on r/Freefolk making a joke about picking up fat chicks at the club using a Tormund pic about Brienne. Comments were full of you typical redditoid Yikes, this is toxic, so much projection, etc.

Why the fuck can't these morons laugh at a joke. Surely they all aren't overly sensitive fat fucks right?

Some reddit jannies are planning on blacking out their subs (reddit | archive) on 6/12 to protest the API change/cash-grab by reddit.

Many of the powermod-led subs do not appear to be participating yet, so time will see if they can get enough subs blacked out to cause a problem. Regardless of who wins, we win.

this reminds me of the time where white women on instagram would black out their profile pictures in protest of the killing of fent floyd. "you know i may not actually care about the issue at hand, but having a blacked out picture gotta mean something right?

"wow seeing all these companies and people posting black screens and playing 8 minutes of silence really changed my ways on how i feel about black people"

while googling this, i didn't realize how much companies did during this time but feel free to read a wikipedia paragraph
Blackout Tuesday stemmed off of the original initiative[3] created by music executives Brianna Agyemang and Jamila Thomas, Senior Director of Marketing at Atlantic Records.[5][6] Agyemang and Thomas have since noted that "These injustices we are facing in America are not limited to just our community. This is a global initiative and our efforts will include members worldwide".[7]

Businesses participated in different ways. Black Americans were asked to not buy or sell on this day to show economic strength and unity. Spotify announced it would be adding an 8-minute and 46-second moment of silence to certain podcasts and playlists for the day.[1] In remembrance of George Floyd, media conglomerate Paramount Global similarly took all of its cable channels, which include MTV, Nickelodeon, and Comedy Central, off the air for 8 minutes and 46 seconds.[8] Apple Music stripped down and took over the "Browse", "For You", and "Radio" tabs and replaced them with a single radio streaming station in celebration of Black music.[9]

On Facebook and Instagram, users participated by posting a single photo of a black square alongside the hashtag #blackouttuesday.

The "review bomb" is a grand total of 11 bad reviews.
Get fucked lmao. 11 reviews might not seem like a lot, but when your game has a 24 hour peak of 15 players months after release..

/r/cars has an important announcement to make
An important note regarding Reddit in general and r/cars in particular; please read this (archive)
In the 1970s in the United States there grew an idea: Simply put, that people could help other people by building a decent place to live, at no profit for the builders. This idea grew from a charitable concept into a movement that would grow far past its original hopes and expectations. By the late 1970s this idea had expanded; today, Habitat for Humanity operates in every state in the USA but also in over a third of the countries in the world.

Habitat for Humanity volunteers do not work for wages. They volunteer their time to create something better than existed before; they often provide their own tools to make construction more efficient and safer for themselves and all around. The Habitat fund provides materials and the volunteers do the rest, creating and improving spaces for people to live in and enjoy. Without the volunteers, Habitat for Humanity could simply and fundamentally not exist. As such, the volunteers are treated with dignity and respect; they create wonderful things for strangers for no other reason than the love of so doing.

In the mid-2000s, Reddit was created. Reddit, Inc. has provided the framework and material for the site to survive, and a group of volunteer moderators has created tools and volunteered time to build spaces for people to occupy and enjoy. For the past 18 years this has been successful: Volunteers have created and curated spaces, and users have created content and everything that has filled those spaces.

On May 31 of this year, Reddit unilaterally announced that it was changing the pricing structure for all third-party applications using its servers and, in order for apps like Apollo, Bacon Reader, or RiF is Fun to continue to function, they would be required to pay Reddit, Inc. some tens of millions of dollars per year effective 30 days hence. The net effect of this is that Reddit plans on ending the ability for ALL third-party applications to function. This will mean destroying the ability of users to interact with the site on their favorite platforms. This will affect not only moderators but also every user who chooses to use a third-party application to view the site; THIS DIRECTLY AFFECTS YOU.

Habitat for Humanity could not function without its volunteers and the tools and skills they bring to the table; Reddit cannot function without its volunteer moderators and users and the tools and skills they bring to the platform.

Reddit is making these changes solely to serve you more advertisements, facilitate more spam, and track and sell your personal user data to other marketers and platforms. This has no benefit to the user, but we have seen this pattern before with other platforms. The animosity of Reddit towards third-party app developers, moderator staff, and users alike is telling and it does not bode well for the future of the platform. Reddit's actions are bad for everyone.

If Habitat for Humanity volunteers were treated thusly they would, sadly, pack their tools and move on and think at least of the good they have managed to do for people. As volunteers for Reddit, we are now preparing to pack our tools and move on. Reddit's clear avarice and contempt for the people who have spent millions of hours for free building and populating their communities is coming to a head.

The takeaway from this:

In protest, r/cars will be closing all access as of June 12 and will be dark through June 14, perhaps longer. The mod staff is unwilling to continue to work with restricted functionality and in the face of such shocking disregard from Reddit, who has effectively been our pro bono client for the entirety of the site's existence. During this time you will not be able to read, comment, or participate in the subreddit at all. This is not something the mod staff does lightly: This is done after many hours of discussion recently, and multiple years of discussion more broadly. We do not want to have to this, and it is with great reticence that we take this action. We love what we have built: This is the Internet's largest automotive forum by several multiples. We love the discussion here, and we are all invested in not only the subreddit but also the content therein. We're all enthusiasts first and moderators second, and shuttering -- and preparing to abandon, if necessary -- the thing that we have built is painful.

However, this is where we are at this point of time. What can you do?

  • Complain. Message the mods of /r/reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message /u/reddit: submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /r/reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
  • Spread the word. Discuss this on related subreddits. Suggest that anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /r/ModCoord. Do NOT attempt to doxx, threaten, harass, or promote violence towards anyone.
  • Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th: Instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  • Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible.Thank you. We hope for a positive resolution in this matter. This is the hand that we must play.
Thank you.

--The r/cars mod staff
TLDR, the 1st three paragraphs outline the case that jannying subreddits is equivalent to building houses for free with Habitat for Humanity. This analogy continues through the rest of the janny screed as the core justification for why they need to black out the subreddit (also it's bad because they want to track you and serve you more ads (true) but truly the jannies are most affected).
Solution to avoid this 2 day subreddit holocaust?
- bitch at reddit admins
- spread the word
-boycott and go to reddit's competition (doesn't name any sites, probably doesn't know any, lol)
and most importantly *drum roll*
-Don't be a jerk! (confusing because this would be a good way for those jannies to show their importance to reddit admins)
The self-importance is truly astounding.

In response to the API drama and blackouts. Just make your own platform if you don't like it. Oh wait. Everyone is a broke ass bitch with no means to do so for one, and two they have helped feed into the climate where you can't just make your own platform without going through a lot of hardship and money. Just keep biting the centralized hands that feed you infantile losers.

The fucking gall of reddit jannies to compare their work to volunteering for a charitable organization that actually does real work that helps people. Even the commenters aren't having it.View attachment 5150500
Not only do reddit jannies not make the world a better place, in fact they make it worse by troon guarding and covering for pedophiles and child molesters.

All I see from this outrage is boo hoo a shitty dumpster fire got made worse by no longer letting you use third party apps. Couldn't have happened to a nicer site.

Not sure if this was posted, but it's an interesting watch and shows why Reddit is shit. Basically the guy who made Wall Street Bets, the sub reddit responsible for the whole Gamestop thing and more had all his shit stolen by Reddit, including the sub reddit itself, simply for daring to try to trademark the name with no intent to pressure Reddit with that.

Reddit says you will own nothing and you will be happy.

I really hope this shit comes back to bite them in court someday. This clearly shows that reddit is not organic and they will replace mods of subreddits if they want to. They banned a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooot of people that were mods they didn't like to get people they liked in control of subreddits.
I've had threads deleted on reddit, and the subreddit mod told me privately, it wasn't his decision, the site mods came over the top and did it.

So not only do you have the subreddit mods that may be employees of certain companies or industrys, controlling discourse. You also have the head guys who will act if enough redditors spam reports.
This goes on to an incredible degree on reddit. Reddit is a fake view of both the internet and world. I've had interactions with some of the admins (or ex-admins) and they never acted like serious employees of a serious business. Spez editing posts was just a symptom of the kind of culture they had there.

the protest won't work because reddit is like the hydra. if you chop off one subreddit then two more will sprout up immediately. users themselves have to stop being retards, finally accept the site is pure garbage, and leave.

The funniest part of #blackouttuesday was half way through the day, everyone said to quit posting black squares because they were clogging up people's feeds. And that posting a black square was leading to people not having access to critical information and news and was offensive.

They're mostly overly sensitive fat fucks, the rest are said fat fucks white knights and thirsty chubby chasers.

I truly, truly cannot adequately express just how much contempt I have for every single reddit janny. Jannies are not giving their time and skills to a charity. Jannies are not building homes for people. This is a worthy endeavour, deserving genuine respect. You are cleaning up the virtual shit-stained bathrooms of the Internet in your own time for the sole benefit of an enormous corporation and YOU DO IT FOR FREE.
