I see all your confusion. That was Tony, a man. This is Erin, a woman. It's well known and proven in all the scientific literature I read (from before the 1940's) that women are just too emotional to perform intellectual tasks. Frankly, as women, Tony and Zac shouldn't be involved in politics at all, that's just uncouth, a lady shouldn't dirty her hands* with such disgusting common fare as politics. Erin is just being a woman in politics: loud, shrill, uninformed, emotional, obsessed, bullying, etc. Not surprised that TERFs wouldn't understand gender euphoria like that.

*This was the common belief, including among women who supported it even more, for why women need not have the vote in the United States. Remember politics in America wasn't supposed to be a vocation and there was a seedy aspect to devoting yourself to it that even career politicians had to take breaks and pretend not to chase office, but it was a duty that had to be done not something to openly aspire to. Why would women want to be part of that? It's like being exempt from the draft. This didn't stop women from being political players, it just meant they played it differently than the men did. The Eaton affair effectively set the stage for making Martin Van Buren president, the HBO John Adams series correctly shows Abigail Adams as his top personnel advisor, etc. You can even revisionist sketch the suffrage movement as less about women and more about political classes, the upper class WASP women could boost their people's numbers in the electorate to reduce the lower class/immigrant/etc. vote share because those women wouldn't vote and then the restored "majority" (which just doubled in size) could then push all those people out of the labor market including by restricting women from working which a flurry of those states immediately did with their "restored majorities" back in political power. My main point is that social mores and motivations were different, it wasn't all some patriarchal plot as people seeking political power who have come of age decades or centuries later have decided.

This is just armchair psychologizing on my part, but I wonder if Tony's time at LSMSA gave him a bit of former gifted-kid syndrome. He seems to relish being looked up to as a subject matter expert, whether that subject matter is drugs, election predictions, or "legislative research", but is obviously too lazy to put in the actual work necessary to actually know what he's talking about, so he fits the profile to a T.

I agree with your broader point, in that Tony seems to have this psychological need to be seen as “gifted” as he was as a child. But I believe (phone-posting, I apologise for the lack of specificity) that this predates LSMSA, back to his “Eri-Chan” “Open Gang” website/2004 Daily Kos blog post, which IIRC would have been before he went to LSMSA?

I only posted some of that Daily Kos stuff in here but read more of it back then and it was all this way. Tony's weltanschauung is fake it until you make it move onto the next true and honest life passion. Some idiot told him he was gifted so he never bothered to learn how to learn.

I haven't gone back through his juvenilia as thoroughly as you guys have, so you may well be right. There's no doubt in my mind that the external validation of being admitted to LSMSA ramped it up a notch and thoroughly cemented his little complex in place, though. After all, he must be a genius if he got admitted to an official state-approved school for the gifted, right?
