Metal Gear

It would be neat to have a metal gear acid port. Although I have no idea if Id stand the card combat mechanics.
I just like the artstyle and weird ass plot where the patriots and big boss somehow dont exist.

Also Portable ops has a better plot that makes more sense then peacewalker.

So I guess this was the MGS1 remake game journos were going on about for years?

A MGS board game seems pretty cool if one wants to look in the booklet to understand the lore behind Solid Snake's existence for new players to get into.

Other than that, that is the only reason why anyone would want to purchase it.

The story of portable ops was far more respectful to MGS1 lore than kojima's metal gear REX gundam [spergatroid meme name] in MGSV. I prefer it as a canon post-MGS3 sequel leading up to the field testing of the finalized Rex model in MGS1.

Peace walker was the start of Kojima's slide into mediocrity. No one ever gives that game shit over how many god damn loading screens are in that game. Even in the 360 port. More like "peace out fucker" with how often you'll see the peace sign every 30 seconds or less and not even bother playing it anymore.

Peacewalker sucked because the bosses were crap. Robots are not an engaging or interesting boss type to base your whole game around. I need a guy that can shoot bees or somebody that breaths fire thank you very much.

That really has been the missing ingredient of a lot of his more recent stuff.

It was jarring to suddenly have tanks be the *main* bosses and huge damage sponges in a series where the character is known for fucking up mechs. It was even more jarring when the next game turned tanks into a fucking basic bitch enemy.

It's almost like a creative writer suddenly disappeared and there wasn't anyone to come up with interesting bosses so Kojima was just like "eh...just make tanks the bosses...all anyone really cares about is my name being on the box anyways."

It's really interesting how everything went bad right about the time of MGS 4 & peacealker. Up until then every game he'd been on or around was pretty solid. The loss of that writer and other personal troubles must have effected the quality of his team. More then likely he didn't have enough people telling him no when he wanted something stupid put in.

V for me actually felt like a return to form, but that was shipped half finished sadly.

I feel like as a movie or narrative, 4 does have something interesting going on, Especially now with the anti PMC and war as a business message. But as a game? It's uneven and bad because it takes control away from you and has a much more limited playground to move around in.

You buy that one rife and you can headshot every enemy from the get go. There's no sense of progression when it comes to guns.

I'll say MGS 4 still had maps to navigate from the first three, at least compared to the fifth one.

But I guess its easier for Konami to dump the fan favorite into a shiny new engine and remove the more 'problematic' stuff for modern audience sensibilities.
Exactly, and it's completely understable why.

At this point, Konami has to have so little faith in Metal Gear. The only people that seemingly care are Game Journos. Metal Gear Solid "fans" are really Kojima fans who have said for 8 years now they won't support anything without him. There's no progress on this supposed Metal Gear movie, and even then, the most progress there was for a good decade was just claiming they cast Oscar Isaac as Snake. Castlevania has an animated series, evne Silent Hill got a few movies out the door. At this point, Metal Gear is a step away from being as relevant as Contra or Bomberman.

This whole thing is a test at the viability of Metal Gear in the modern landscape. At best, they want to see if the series quirky shit will resonate with Zoomers. At worst it's just a cheap way to see if Metal Gear can sell.

The Metal Gear Solid 3 remake will reuse the original game’s voice lines — with no changes

This is a great thing.

1. David Hayter was already sounding like shit by MGS3, so imagine how bad he must sound 20 years later.

2. I've seen way too many faggots saying they *need* to add Skullface and other shitty MGS V retcons into the game. Now that's almost guaranteed not to happen.

It also drastically decreases the chance of them fagging shit up. No doubt they're still going to remove certain lines but at least the basic story will be intact.

Honestly would have loved to see a metal gear 1 and 2 remake just to give this new development team more of a chance to make it their own (also bc a metal gear 2 remake would be basically a stealth MGS remake while having the environmental aspects from 3) but since I'm a basic bitch who's favorite Metal Gear is MGS 3 atmosphere wise if they just make this have MGS V's smooth controls but with 3's survival aspects and tight design it would be the tits.
I maintain its weird everyone is still hung up on kojima and less that konami turned the KojiPro offices into a 24/7 surveillance state during MGS V but hey, I guess people still worship the ground Kojima walked on ever since 5 got fucked

Ever since MGS 4 he stayed in perma old snake mode the entire time. I don't think hayter lost it entirely but Peace Walker was an extremely bad final performance for the guy

I maintain having skully just be in the background for one scene, while entirely gratuitous/immersion breaking, would be funny as shit. like think of the gman from half life but extreamly out of bounds, maybe for a new game plus mode
but no they should keep metal gear solid 3 self contained as it was back in the day, that was one of the game's biggest strengths and fucking it up by adding shit from 4's Patriots twist or V's Vocal Chord parasites would be aids

I'd love 3 and 4 on pc finally, pw would also be nice if they had servers up for mp, that's the only real draw to it for me. I guess on the same note MGO2 on pc would be great (its currently possible on private server but a larger audience and mouse aim would be great) It does seem like at least one more game would be needed to fill out a vol. 2. Portable ops was pretty bad and at the time the only real appeal was being able to play pseudo 3 portably. How is Ac!d? Worth emulating?

Dunno how true it was but heard he damaged his throat gargling whiskey to make his vocie that way for 4. He was able to do the normal voice again by the time ultimate came out and for some cameo/fan projects.

Also the screenshots for the remake look 1:1 like they have the same geometry and you can pick out the exact locations they're from. I know it probably won't have the same level of precision as 3 (maybe something closer to V) but I like the idea of something more faithful than the REmakes have been which have been more of retcons than remakes.

I am pretty excited for Delta if it turns out to be good. It seems like it is shaping up to be a 1:1 remake and I'd be cool with that, though I would like it if the maps were opened up and expanded a bit. It would be cool to have all the areas of MGS3 be more intertwined and freely traversable, but maybe that is too much to ask.

As a fan of MGS I really could not give less of a fuck if Kojima is involved in the series from this point on or not. He clearly didn't want anything to do with it beyond a certain point anyway, so I don't see why anybody would want him to be here, especially not when the last remake he was involved in was worse purely because of him.

I would have probably been more excited if they did an MG1 or 2 remake but I get the sneaking suspicion they plan to work chronologically through the 'Delta' timeline so maybe that's still on the table.

This is the thing that I find hilarious. I'm seeing Kojima fanboys going crazy in comments about Delta how "No Kojima, no buy!"

Like, they don't even fucking realize Kojima wanted out of Metal Gear Solid for fucking ever and they still scream and pout that he isn't involved. It's such a fucking cult and it is so fucking pathetic and it really says a lot about how they all really feel about Death Stranding if they still want him back with Metal Gear Solid IMO
