Xbox Game Studios Stupidity Hate Thread Game Pass Edition

What they actually should have done was incorporate the MS studios under the bastardly but very effective Zenimax team instead of the other way around. Same for the marketing department.
the same zenimax that let machinegames ruin wolfenstein, gave us games like FO4 and 76, and let arkane be retarded long before redfall?

let's put it this way, there are reasons why they were willing to sell out to microsoft.

I liked the Ascent on Gamepass. Then again I'm a sucker for cyberpunk
the ascent is some good shit, highly recommended.

I mean if the game is finished but bad then there's really no reason to not just start selling it anyway
Wasn't Redfall delayed like 3 times? It certainly doesn't sound like it was "finished"

I was more lenient back in the day when I was a fucking child and games were coming out within 1-2 years instead of 5-10 years. You'd think with the amount of money and the fuck ton of time these developers are given they'd be able to actually accomplish the goals they set out to do, or at least realize a year or two in that they are unable to do what they want and scale back appropriately.

Like Arkane can blame Microsoft all they want, they still fucked this game up.

FO4 and 76 came out quickly and made money. So yes. This is about building and selling games. If you want to talk 76 and Wolfenstein then you must also talk ESO and Doom. Redfall was begun under Bethesda but its Microsoft who launched it in a broken state.

eso is zenimax online, doom is id (and there are enough mixed opinions about eternal). the point is unless you put the studios under those two, which are apparently managed better by itself, there's zero difference putting them under zenimax proper - just look at the shit 343 has been up to for over a year, you think zenimax would reign that in given what machinegames was up to and how FO76 released? and sure, it might have made money, but who's still talking about it? the brand is pretty much dead.

I agree with the "can't live the hype of marketing", but a lot of these games don't just live up to hype they come out being absolute dog shit. Cyberpunk 2077 didn't just not live up to the hype, it was a piece of shit at launch.

And I don't really know if the "hype was too great" even works when it comes to Redfall. I don't know a single mother fucker who was excited for that game. I'm sure there were some *hardcore* Xbox fans that were, but I know at least 4 and none of them gave a shit.

Zenimax is absolutely ruthless, they certainly wouldn't have let 343 fall behind on content creation for Infinite. They'd have been crunched to hell and back, 80 hour weeks and no vacation or you'll fail your next review crunch.

All Xbox amazing acquisitions are finally paying off:
-Obsidian is doing Skyrim with guns.
-Inxile is doing Bioshock Infinite with blacks.
-Compulsion is doing their third abstract flop in a row.
-State of Decay 3 is in development hell and is getting carried by Coalition.
-Double Fine is hosting one of the half-dozen indie directs while having zero presence on the Xbox event.

3 years since the Fable announcement trailer and they still don't have actual gameplay to show, and no release date. I wouldn't be surprised if we were still 3 more years away from release. Xbox is really incompetent in managing game devs.
With what was shown, I really dislike the art-style, it looks nothing like Fable, same with the vibe given of by the writing. It could have been a new IP and it would make no difference.

On the other hand, the Startfield Direct actually made me interested in the game, it was a good showing.
I was already going to give it a try on Game Pass, but now I'm actually looking forward to play it.

That conference was utterly abysmal there was hardly no gameplay. Timed exclusives murder sales too so those Persona games are dead on arrival and my reference is the Tomb Raider devs, remake 2 had horrific sales overall when it did not deserve it because it was a great game. They barely got the 3rd.

I heard Fable was in dev hell but gooddam I can see it getting scrapped. 3 years with no gameplay is shocking and the money wasted could have gone to good shit.

It's playground games, my nigger.

These guys made one game almost 10 years ago and re-released the same shit without any modification twice.

I really didn't know anyone cared about Fable. I've never heard a good thing about that series, just lots of complaints. Like I remember when it was new, hearing Peter Molyneux promising stuff like "you'll get dynamically scarred as a kid and then you'll grow up and that scar will still be there" which was impressive back then, and then the game came out and it couldn't live up to what Molyneux was promising, I guess?

Man, Atlus/Sega sure is dead-set on not just making a definitive version of Persona 3. Like, each existing version has it's own pros and cons. P3FES has non-gimped cutscenes, but not being able to turn the party AI off sucks. P3P has a female protag option for girls and homos, and manual control for all the party members, but also turns the game into even more of a visual novel. P3Re was their chance to make a game that does it all.

Instead, they confirm that no FES or P3 content is there. Now, it's modern day Sega and Atlus so I'm fully expecting them to charge 30 dollars so you get that content as DLC. Even if it's not DLC, it's still a baffling move to not just make a version that encompasses all.

Seeing footage of Re: Fantasy was nice though. Or whatever weird-ass Italian title it has now. Looks cool. Pretty much the only announcement that wowed or surprised me. Anyone excited for Bethesda's latest slop should wear a badge that says "retard" on it at all times. Cyberpunk DLC featuring tranny porn stars and literal shit-eating porn stars won't be any good either.

Back when I played 1, I hadn't heard any of the nonsense Molyneux was spewing, and I thought it was a fun little RPG. 2 improved on some things, but it always had that sense that it could have been a bit more. Then 3 shat the bed and the whole series fell apart. I think a lot of people are (or were) hopeful that a revival could help live up to some of the promises or ideas that the games seemed to carry, but I don't know of anyone who still considers themselves a "Fable fan." It's mostly just going "Remember games like Fable? That was fun. I miss fun games."

Starfield looks like No Man's Sky mixed with Star Citizen. I wonder how much todd lied in the direct? I might play it once all the bugs are sorted out, knowing Bethesda.
