Art of serial killers and their crimes is actually not a modern thing. The books I have on the subject contain lots of examples from previous times.
Woodcarvings and paintings from the pre-printing press days, mass-produced pamphlets once the press had arrived, dramatic illustrations from Victorian novels, up to 20th Century comic books and trading cards to modern DA accounts.... they've always fascinated in the same way trainwrecks and combat photography have. Though most artists were probably just producing content that would sell, not because they agreed with lust-murder. (Well, I said MOST)
And, there have always probably been those whose reason for collecting said paraphernalia was to get off on it,

, I've always been quietly bemused the way Belle Gunness has never received much by way attention from borderline psychopath third wave feminists. You'd think she'd be right up there as a hero who fought against the patriarchy and got rid of all those disgusting men. Incidentally, she was another one who used pigs as a disposal method.
Feminists are kinda quiet about Aileen Wornos too, odd considering her whole (Failed) defense tactic was that she wasn't a serial killer who targeted men, oh no, those evil men tried to rape her out of the blue and she heroically managed to fight them off time and time again, and instead of going to the police (you know, tool of the patriarchy) she just left them to rot and took all their stuff, wouldn't want it going to waste, right? It's practically tailor-made for the radfem agenda. On the other hand, she wasn't very photogenic and more than 5 minutes of research reveals her to be the same kind of methed-up white trash loser who inhabits trailer parks, not exactly your champion on horseback, huh?
I think feminists are largely ignorant that female killers even exist (to be fair they're rare, so rare that every time one is caught the media loses it's shit about how she's the first ever) and are always looking for the man in her life who obviously put her up to it, because naturally-saintly women can never just be evil sick fucks, they have to be pushed into it by some dirty no-good male. Ironically, they buy into the gender stereotype that woman just "don't have it in them" when the behavior is murder as opposed to more positive things. The feminist agenda requires the focus to be on those evil outside influences, not the woman herself.
There are those who still think Rosemary West and Myra Hindley dindu nuffin and were just under the thumb of their abusive husband/boyfriend
