Russian Special Military Operation in the Ukraine - Mark IV: The Partitioning of Discussion

who forced ukraine to give up its 300 or 600 soviet nukes back in the 90s with the promise that if the russians did anything there would be nato troops protecting them
First of all those weren't "the Ukraine's" nukes, they were Soviet nukes, and belonged to the USSR's successor state; Russia. Second, the Ukraine had no way of launching or otherwise using them because they could be launched from Moscow only, so they were useless to Ukraine, and everyone was terrified a slimy khokhol was going to open them up and sell to terrorists to do God only knows what with the nuclear material they contained. Third, at the time no one predicted the US was going to use the Ukraine to get to Russia in 21st century, so no one was worried Russia was going to "do" anything regarding Ukraine in the 1990s; both Russia and the US agreed to defend Ukraine against a third party.

I get some of you are zoomers whose knowledge of Russia/Russians comes mainly from vidya and movies but the Ukraine/Russia weren't hostile to each other right after the breakup of the USSR, and many, including a good number of Ukrainians, are now expressing regret not remaining and joining the Federation.

tl;dr no one forced the Ukraine to give up anything and it freely agreed to the compensation and promises they were given. Stop propagating the fiction Ukraine was "forced" into giving up nukes that never belonged to it.

These are the same fuckers who forced ukraine to give up its 300 or 600 soviet nukes back in the 90s with the promise that if the russians did anything there would be nato troops protecting them, not a bunch of old used weapons and discount helmets
Why do people keep saying this. Ukraine had no access to those soviet nukes; they didn't give up anything other than a ticking timebomb

Movies give an idea that nukes are big fire works that you plug into a laptop, or use an access panel to type in "James Bond's penthouse" instead to update its target, then hit a big button and it just works!

Could the hohols theoretically took the warhead and rigged it onto a new rocket? Perhaps, but they would have sold it to Osama more likely. The same people also think that 9/11 2.0, Nuclear Boomgaroo wouldn't be twin mushroom clouds after Ruskieland falls apart and its nukes will teleport into US bases as reparashuns just like in video games when you hit the trade button.

So the American Enterprise Institute, the neo-con think tank that brought you such brilliant ideas as the Iraq War and supporting the "moderate rebels" (read: Islamists) in Syria, has released another great think piece to address the security issues of our times: "Let's give Ukraine nukes!" Could Ukraine get nukes? and Could Ukraine nuke itself ala nord stream and the Dam and blame Russia?

Nukes are back on the menu boys!

Why do people keep saying this.
Ignorance. If you think the Ukraine or any other statelet would have been left with nukes under any circumstances you are a colossal retard.

Also, it's like saying Estonia was forced to give up it's army when USSR c ontingents were dissolved or withdrew to Russia proper. Can't surrender something if it was never yours to begin with.

Wouldn't really surprise me that they're so open with this shit. They were one of the leaders in child trafficking before the war started.
Probably still are, maybe they reached Numba Wan goals. War creates so many orphaned and displaced kids, nobody will keep track.

There's been all kinds of stupid and/or sociopathic leaders throughout history, but there's something especially repugnant about Zelensky and his fellows in government. Maybe he does actually think himself important in these political games, but I think he mostly sees this conflict as a chance for both fame and wealth as the hero that saved Ukraine and defeated the Great Bear. It's the most basic want of a politician to favor power and clout over everything else.
Early on there were rumors that he's doing what he does because the Azov Nazis have a gun to his head, and he'd better do what they say or else they'll kill him and take over, as if that makes him a complex and noble tragic figure. He is more loyal to Israel than to Ukraine, but to himself most of all. And even if it was true, all that means is he's putting his own singular worthless life over millions of people and is willing to risk a global war just so he can live another day in stolen luxury.

Ukraine and human trafficking, name a more iconic duo. There was this report that said that 40% of pedo content came from Ukraine.

The west hasn't even given atacms to ukies. Some may remember there were a lot of talks how Ukraine would get atacms and start hitting targets deep inside russian territory. Western politicians may be retarded but even they understand that giving anything powerful to ukies is like giving a grenade to monkey. At least I hope they do.

The more I look into this fiasco (the current conflict), the more pessimistic I'm becoming. I don't think Globohomo Inc. is going to be satisfied with anything less than a balkanized Russia at this point. And my sense is that there's an element among the elites that views this as almost a holy war. With rainbow dildos as a sacrament and something by Marcuse as sacred scripture. Meaning I don't think anything is off the table. Up to and including direct intervention by NATO.

American national interest, European national interest, seemingly none of that matters. They'll fight any fight, bear any burden to achieve this end. Oh, wait. I mean, they'll make you fight any fight, make you bear any burden to achieve this end. The US alone is at least $75 billion into Ukraine, with another $1.5 billion coming soon. And when the most travelled highway in the USA collapses in Philadelphia? We'll get around to fixing it when we get to it. Toxic waste spill in Ohio? Biden is too busy or too senile to even bother visiting.

I'm still trying to get my arms around the "Structural Realism" John Mearsheimer posits as his main political philosophy, but I suspect his otherwise reasonable thesis is flawed in the sense that it ignores the sort of fanaticism that is at base behind the idea of (say) the expansion of NATO to the point it would literally have been a knife to Russia's throat. (To his credit, he freely admits his ideas do not account for every situation.)

A year ago I'd have marked the above with a MATI tag, and I may in fact still deserve it. (Kinda hope I do, actually.) There's just nothing about this war that passes even the most basic of smell tests, at least when viewing it as an American. It was completely avoidable (barring maybe Crimea, which should have gone to Russia in the 1990s), yet here we are.

On a lighter note...Just don't watch too many of their videos. All of a sudden YouTube is recommending me all these weird montages from Hindustantimes.com. Looks like a fair number of streetshitters have little use for Ukraine, which I guess is good, but these things look literally retarded. Like a 13 year old with a budget to buy royalty free music and access to photoshop created them.

Idk, man, History Legends is pretty good, and DPA has a unique perspective too

I don't know, could just be a stupid modern "art" project. Is there any more information that points towards it actually being that?

Not only child trafficking. German brothels are staffed by a shit ton of women from Eastern Europe and they are all totally stunning and brave sex workers doing that voluntarily.

That's two years worth of Lithuania's military budget gone.
Not to mention the cost of the gasoline and glass bottle for the petrol bomb.

Free Latvian Legion strikes behind enemy lines! These brave fellas have a flag that represents a new, free Latvia. It's based on the old Latvian flag but without the blood.
