this whole nickmercs insane babble he made about himself is based on an "event" he doesn't know anything about. BUT he admitted that he just says words claiming he doesn't know what he says during gameplay.
so yes he's an idiot..
EDIT - this prestream... On one hand the SF6 salt runs deeper and in the long run better than KOFXV Vanessa salt on the other hand...
don't drink or smoke when you're preggers my god, how something so stupid can be so arrogant and literally even to his own admission not know shit about a topic and yet go off on these tangents.. I..
I love it "Noobs beat me because I didn't expect them to do random moves and ackshually high level play people run set patterns so it's easier to know what they are doing!" My sides will never recover.
Phil starts it off by saying that his audience is torn on whether they want Phil to jump into online play immediately, or spend a significant amount of time practicing moves and combos before jumping into online play. He says that the entire live stream chat wants online play, but the on-demand Youtube audience is telling him to take it slow and spend more time practicing so that he'll do better online.
I went through every Street Fighter 6 video from the past week, there is exactly one comment saying that Phil should practice more before going online. This one.
Here is every other comment from the past week.
Hey look ^ its the guy that says he doesn't watch DSP anymore. He just moderates Phil's tumbleweed forums.. for fun I guess?
Phil rants about how if he could just pick one character the grind with, Blanka he says, he would be in Diamond rank, or hell, even Master rank, and he'd also be countering Drive Impacts, but Phil is a variety content creator, so he can't do this. Phil told his audience from DAY 1 that he was out to make chill, fun Street fighter 6 videos. People who want Phil to play better didn't listen.
Phil delves back into the "get good, try-hard" rant from yesterday. He says there is a pervasive attitude in the FGC, that if you aren't spending your time trying to improve at the game, you are wasting your time. Remember that he said this.
He says that this attitude is ridiculous, and it came about back in the Street Fighter 4 days. Not back in the day when Phil was in the FGC, when it was all chill casual fun, this only came about in the Street Fighter 4 days after Phil had already left the FGC.
Phil says that this attitude came about because his casualized Street Fighter 4 videos were garnering massive popularity, and this made all of the professional Street Fighter 4 players jealous. These pro's were trying so hard to get good at the game, and Phil wasn't, he just wanted to make people smile with his chill content, but despite this, Phil still got all of the views and attention, so professional Street Fighter players began to hate him, and this is why Phil would shit talk them. People complained that was toxic behavior from Phil, but they just didn't get the joke, It was funny back then, everyone was laughing with Phil.
From this rant ^ Phil transitions into a completely different rant about how he isn't popular anymore, and the only time he gets attention, its because of something negative. People just want paint Phil as a toxic person. Phil says that he has come to terms with this reality, he's accepted it. And it doesn't matter that Phil's fanbase is tiny, they still support his content, which allows him to make a modest living. Immediately after saying this, Phil says that he used to get several hundreds of thousand of views for his Street Fighter 4 sessions back in the day (sips his water, looks at himself in OBS), then says he barely gets that in one month now on DSPGaming. But its okay, because Phil has a diverse audience who doesn't care about Phil's performance in Street Fighter 6, they only care about chill positive content. But.. he also says he still wants to get better the game...?
(Throughout the podcast, Jasper keeps jumping up into Phil's lap. Every time, Phil says "Jasper you can't sit in my lap, you need to get down" Each time he gets increasingly annoyed. I'm not sure why Phil wont let Jasper sit in his lap, he jumped up like 4 or 5 times, I just thought it was weird)
At this point, Phil kicks the cope up a gear. He says he was watching tutorial videos for Manon, but the combos were too advanced, he still needs to learn the basics, but even if he had learned these combos, it would be waste, because these combos would only work on high level players, they won't work on players who aren't advanced. (Keep in mind that Phil was ass-mad yesterday because the game placed him against players that were more advanced than him, so it doesn't make sense would be worried about advanced combos not working on "lower level players"... right?)
Phil says that these advanced combos will not work, because lower level players will just do random moves and beat him. Random moves from low level players beat advanced combos, if you didn't know. Players who have a competitive mindset, like Phil, will not expect random moves from noobs, so this is why he loses, and this is why there is no point in learning advanced combos. People who don't have the competitive mindset can't understand. Phil says he asked several people to send him tutorial videos for Manon,.. no one did
(Phil breaks from this series of rants to talk about how Paypal is fucked up. He doesn't get his tip notifications, he has to check Paypal manually now. Not chill. Then, as he's talking about this, he says his private react video for Slayer got claimed by Youtube. He rambles about fair use copyright react shit. Whatever.)
Phil gets a superchat from some random account, saying that people may be practicing Street Fighter 6 in hopes to have a chance at winning the 1 million dollar prize pool at the Capcom Cup event. Phil retorts with "They dont." before even finishing the sentence.
He launches into another rant about how this tournament is a "trap". He says that the vast majority of people will never have a chance at being good at Street Fighter, "just because of the way the system is set up" There is a small group of people who have been winning all of the Street Fighter tournaments for a long time, its because they have a lifestyle that allows them to do so.
We get another "back in the day" story. He says that the people who would win these tournaments were the same small group of people who were able to fly around around to all of the tournaments. They were living the "competitors lifestyle" These people were able to drop everything in their lives and travel around playing Street Fighter. If you wanted to win back in the day, you had to be able to travel around without a care. It wasn't about how skilled at the game you were, it was about having this lifestyle that allowed you to play more and see more. I suppose this isn't skill, in Phil's mind. Phil says he knew people who had incredible natural talent for Street Fighter, but they would go to EVO and lose. They lost, not because of skill, but because of lack of "exposure" because they didn't live the "competitor's lifestyle"
Phil says "There's a few people-" then stops himself and say's that he can't name names, because these people would take it negatively. Phil continues, and says these people (who he won't name) were being bankrolled by their parents, and thats why they were able to travel around to all of these tournaments and win. Because their parents were paying for all of it. You know.. the people who were winning tournaments, and making money? Yeah, their parents were paying for it. They didn't have jobs, and yet they were at every Street Fighter tournament.. winning.
How the fuck could this be possible dood??
Phil insists that there were not sponsorships back then, so this must mean that the parents of these tournament winners paid for everything. He says that if you went to a tournament, and you knew that you were the best player there, you would also know that you would lose, because you haven't traveled around like these trust fund tournament winners.
And that is why these people who want to be good at Street Fighter nowadays have no fucking chance.
The winners will always be no-lifers who spend all day playing Street Fighter. There's no chance for an up-and-comer to get as good as these people. There will be no Rocky underdog story. There's no Cinderella story, so just give up now. Do you have a life? Yes?? Then you are not winning. It's that simple. Reality has not slapped these idiots in the face yet. Luckily, Phil understands this, because he's been there and done that.
(Sorry for the audio on this one, I"m not recording this shit again)
Phil says that he thought he had a chance to win EVO, he thought he could be the best, but really he had no chance. He had a full time job and responsibilities, so he couldn't play the game as much as those no-lifers. And yet.. somehow, against all the odds, Phil got 4th at EVO, and this made him a known top player. He even flew to every single EVO qualifier one year, and he spent an insane amount of money. Phil says he "won the qualifers" but still lost at EVO. Even though he tried hard, "the system still broke him down" and this made Phil burnout and become jaded towards competitive Street Fighter. Phil says in 2007 that he won every qualifier (now claiming twice in the span of 1 minute that he won every single EVO qualifier) -he stops himself and adds" Or I at least placed top 3" He once again says that the "system broke him down" at EVO.
Phil says his EVO bracket was rigged, and this was the 10th time his tournament bracket was rigged by these same people. They hated him because Phil was an outspoken guy, they've always hated him.
All of that time and money, just wasted. So Phil quit caring about competitive play. The the odds were always against him because he was not "The chosen one, the golden boy who's going to get all of the favoritism, the one will have their way paid because they are a Pseudo- Celebrity."
So enjoy Street Fighter for what it is, dont be a try-hard. He once again rants about how the game has been out for less than 2 weeks and people have already mastered certain characters. This used to take 1 year back in the day, now these try-hards did it in a week. Capcom Cup will be won buy a longtime Street Fighter pro! SORRY! Im just being a realist. The system is rigged, and it always will be rigged.
I would bet all of my racist magic the gathering cards that I could put 5 authentic style Italian dishes and 5 American style Italian dishes in front of him, ask him to sort them into those two categories, and he would still get <20% correct. Ill even give him bonus points if he can sort them before Fat Khat eats them.
What the fuck would he do with your cards dood, they are shirtless sweaty muscle men. And don't you dare say he could sell them online or at a game shop nearby, he'd have to take time out of his busy schedule, set up a meeting, and haggle prices all while trying to avoid all the crazy trolls stalking him.
something I noticed watching shinko watch the pre-stream
He doesn't know Rocky loses in the first movie? that tangent about people who go to every tournament cause they have no life and mommy pays for everything then later says how he went to every qualifier and won...except the ones he didn't
@clothes in my closet Due to some weird magic I can't quote your post, I don't want to be too repetitive so instead of writing a TL;DR I'll just post something from the website written by Sam Vaknin, a narcissist who specializes on the study of narcissism. It explains why he has such cathexis when it comes to Street Fighter (you like how I used that machoor adult word? hard words make you smart) and why he keeps this narrative of being able to get to the highest ranking in SF6 if he wanted to:
Omnipotence
The narcissist believes in his omnipotence. "Believe" in this context is a weak word. He knows. It is a cellular certainty, almost biological, it flows in his blood and permeates every niche of his being. The narcissist "knows" that he can do anything he chooses to do and excel in it. What the narcissist does, what he excels at, what he achieves, depends only on his volition. To his mind, there is no other determinant.
Hence his rage when confronted with disagreement or opposition – not only because of the audacity of his, evidently inferior, adversaries. But because it threatens his world view, it endangers his feeling of omnipotence. The narcissist is often fatuously daring, adventurous, experimentative and curious precisely due to this hidden assumption of "can-do". He is genuinely surprised and devastated when he fails, when the "universe" does not arrange itself, magically, to accommodate his unbounded fantasies, when it (and people in it) does not comply with his whims and wishes.
He often denies away such discrepancies, deletes them from his memory. As a result, he remembers his life as a patchy quilt of unrelated events and people.
Interesting, I was not familiar with that word. From Wikipedia:
M. Scott Peck distinguishes between love and cathexis, with cathexis being the initial in-love phase of a relationship, and love being the ongoing commitment of care. Cathexis, to Peck, is distinguished from love by its dynamic element.
So going off this interpretation, Phil is in love with Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and is experiencing cathexis with Street Fighter 6. Although, now we're analogizing libido and real human relationships to Phil's enjoyment of a video game, which seems farcical. On the other hand, Phil has zero sex drive and gets his 'love' from money and video games. I dunno. I only took one psych class in freshman year of college over a decade ago, and from what I recall most of this Freud stuff is largely discredited or replaced with more complex theories because it's all bullshit soft science at the end of the day.
I'd argue the money is only half the love, the other half is the control that comes from being a cult leader to the dents who are supposed to drip feed him to ensure his fun chil pahsitive drama free live form style streams don't get to the point where dear leader Dave has to stop and go "I don't know what's happening WEEEEEEE haven't seen ANY SUPPORT in over an hours YOU WANTED THIS". We've seen time and again how testy he gets when Ryan tips right off the bat to meet one of his faggy goals because it subtly tells the rest of the dents hey it's okay to not tip because someone did all the heavy work for them at the beginning of the stream. Nah if Dave had his way Ryan wouldn't donate until the last minute because the other dents would be under the impression that guarantee isn't coming so they have to un velcro their wallets if they want to see a part 427 of Oblivion.
SF6 winrate cope engaged, he played Marisa in randoms, owning scrubs in casual but getting owned in ranked, but because he statpadded the session was very cool now .
he's a legit retard, like no seriously. Like the kind where if his parents gave half a shit about him they would have gotten a court appointed guardian when he filed for bankruptcy since he's CLEARLY not of sound mind..
He asked his audience who has a meta rift, because sales number are lying. No way 20 million could have been sold globally
His audience which is 90% OIC socks and trolls or can't talk cause of 24 hour sub mode
Then his viewing audience who's going to watch it on demand...IN THE FUTURE
THEN WAITED FOR AN RESPONSE with a smug face from people who didn't watch the video yet...holy fuck. I'm having a PoP moment.
Then assumes people in his chat and people IN THE FUTURE said no.
So 98% of the 350 people watching and 1000's (nigga please) watching IN THE FUTURE all said no (which they didn't) that means that a Meta Rift couldn't have sold 20 million units globally over it's life time.
Nigga actually believes this...
I...
Shit like this, this thought process. This unbelievely stupid, like unrealistically stupid, not even cartoon characters like patrick star or stimpy are this stupid and they're cartoon. I thought it was hammed up for more viral tiktok videos during zelda but no...
I dont know much about fighting games, but to me its seems really odd the game devs would program a 20% chance for the game to ignore your inputs and a 25% chance to ignore your inputs and throw out a level 3 supah instead.
It's gotten to the point where every sentence that Phil says, literally every single one, is one or more of the following:
extremely stupid and/or confusing
eye-rollingly pointless and/or autistic
deeply toxic and/or jealous
clearly delusional
obviously a cope
plain-old begging
a lie
scat
It's impossible to listen to him without reacting in some way. It's stressful and exhausting. Fuck me.
Without a doubt, he has lost it, there is no turning back and it will only get worse.

I believe this as well. Remember a few weeks ago when people in chat were spamming that red emoji. Phil flipped out even though his audience found it hilarious. Any normal streamer would support that natural chat interaction and jokes or tap into it and implement it into their streamer culture. I don't really watch streamers, but every moderately successful streamer understands that letting this happen naturally is a huge benefit to the streams.
What does our dear Phil with a 15 year legacy do? Has a massive spergout, whines it isn't funny anymore, and proceeds to hand out bans to people continuing to do it. Why? My personal theory is that he is aware the emote slightly resembles his caveman-style grug-style wojak-style gamer face, but it probably boils down to his bizarre need to control everything in chat.

2023 has really broken Phil. I know it's a huge joke he will be streaming from the crazy room but if this continues he might actually end up in a straight jacket. I'm just waiting for the day he attacks someone on his day ahf thinking they are a troll because they eyeballed him walking around Fred Meyer in his Zelda jammies and that Mushroom Pizza Kingdom t-shirt while reeking of booze and cat piss.

seriously, I can't sit through an entire pre-stream segment without taking my earbuds out or watching something else. Hell some of the clips channels are really hard to watch.
He's like an insane homeless man very "passionately" screaming at no one about nonsense you're not afriad of him you're just uncomfortable listening to him.
that said, I will give PP one thing, at least he's not saying he's too old to deal with DI, thats the game jounralist take saw a story on my google news feed from one of those trash sites VG247 how DI is a "nightmare" if you're over 30.
So phil's cope that he sucks isn't Game Journalist level....yet
I don't know how many of you watch/listen to WPIG, but over the last couple of weeks ALTInsider and others have been reading old forum posts DSP made during the FGC era, and highlighted a lot of funny posts.
Two weeks ago he read IncelSydePhil's posts REE-ing about women and saying that every woman in his life let him down, and on the last stream they read posts 18 year old Phil made where talks about(among other things) traveling to NY and meeting a 12 year old who talked shit online and wanting to beat his ass at Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but the kid lost his last match and DSP couldn't have his 'fabled match' with him.
Even 20+ years ago DSP had literal children talk shit about him. At least he didn't say he'd slap this kid like he did the 11 year old girl.
Edit: January 21st, 1999, (almost)17 year old Phil makes the same excuse he makes now - 'everyone who's better than me has no life outside of video games.'
Amazing, motherfucker never matured past his teenage years.

But you need to go through the "biznizz email" first.
If not even keemstar's ambush on the podcast to confront him about this did anything, he will keep on this grift until he has a stroke and dies live on stream. Then spontaneously revive because he begged death hard enough.
"*claps hands* All right! Now, you may notice that there's something different about my setup on today's Level 1 Podcast. That's right, I am currently streaming from hell! Actually it looks a lot like my mature adult house in Renton except that Kat's not here. Well, I'm dead now, so what do I care? *snake laugh* She has her own life.
Anyway, the place is much better than I expected, I thought it was going to be demons raining flaming turds out their AYUSS at you 24/7. Like you just open the door and "AAAGGGGGHHHHH" *ackackackack* "AAAAGGGGGHHHH!"
Ahhh... All right, we've got a question from the chat, BrimstoneKarl asks: "did u meet hitler"
What a stupid question. Why would Hitler be here? OK, OnlyFireCoffee asks, "Did you meet Marilyn Monroe?" I don't know who that is, moving on.
Next question, DerichLoves666 asks: "did you meet john holmes". I have not yet gotten a chance to meet Sir John, Derich. Thanks for tuning in.
