Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
Assets they plan to liquidate include Lucasfilm.

The buyer will be George Lucas.

If this actually happens and the price he pays is even one cent below what he was originally paid, I will expect to laugh so hard that I may need medical attention.
I have no idea why he'd want it back, the brand is damaged beyond repair and Carrie FIsher being gone means that any redo of the sequel trilogy just won't happen either. I love Lucas but he's 79 years old now and who knows how much time he has left. I'm sure he'd much rather do whatever he's been doing than take the reigns again.

he could turn it over to the public domain while he's on his deathbed
that'll teach his children to expect an inheritance after not wanting to take the reigns after he wanted out

Good news for those KOTOR Fans who I assume are still huffing copium, some Kotor butchering cameos might be coming early in the comics!

If Disney is struggling, they could surely cost cut at Lucasfilm a lot before thinking to sell it. They could just reduce it to the IPs. They could move ILM.

The location of it's headquarters/ILM is amazing. I have no idea how any of it works, if Lucasfilm owns it, rents it or what but it's a premium location with amazing views. They could probably cost cut by stripping assets and moving everything.

George Lucas still owns Skywalker ranch as far as I am aware and Lucasfilm pays rent for the use of the facilities. I'm sure there could easily be a big cost cutting there.

Maybe there's contractual obligations, but when you consider Lucasfilm to how George had it, to how a corporate structure would have it for maximum profits, there's a conflict.

Such as why is Skywalker Sound on a ranch somewhere pretty near San Fran and not just a warehouse in LA?

EDIT: I think this would be tragic, but they could really fuck up to company and what Lucas made into something more soulless than it's current product.

tl;dr while its great to laugh at Disney stumbling, what is happening right now is a lot of (essentially) furlowing as Disney (and other studios) are buckling down for a writers strike to completely fuck production; there is no need to have set builders on the payroll when no one will be building any new sets.

Especially in Commiefornia with its unemployment bennies its better to get an official layoff so you can collect unemployment for like a year.

Can't blame George for growing resentful of the retards and ingrates that have infested the Star Wars fanbase over the last decade then pulling a 4D chess move like this. He did the right thing by cancelling all of his ongoing projects during the xbox 360 era. You will never get an original good SW game like rogue squadron out of a generation of discordniggers. All they care about is taking credit for someone else's work. Can't blame george for cancelling 1313 over that phenomenon or not being afraid to shoot down dumb ideas.

Star wars was always for passionate nerds. Not clout chasing yuppies. The expanded universe was for teens and adults by the time George sold the franchise off. The movies, at least the original trilogy, were for Children and its disingenuous for them to say retarded shit like fictional entertainment is only for kids. Then turn around and make purposely bad garbage like everything that came out for star wars through disney. All to push the status quo just like the Empire while LARPing as rebels.

As is all science fiction. I'll be happy when all of the poseurs take their Funko Pops and find something else to infect with their presence.

Sort of like Harry Potter. People didn't grow out of something that grew up with them.

What sucks is the continuing line that it's "a movie about space wizards made for children".
Which is wrong to start with, and not the least of the reasons why is that kids deserve better than shit for entertainment.
After Lucas sold it, it became a status symbol among the rich class: "Look at the toy we bought. Look at how we make it dance to our tune, not the tune it was made to dance to. And look at how we can tell the people who built this toy for us that their opinions and interests that made us rich in the first place to fuck off."

That is what he said he'd rather do. Just make films for friends and family at this point. He did say he" didnt know how much time he had left" being the reason why.
That would be such a downgrade from his based nature.

HK's self stated purpose is that he exists to burn holes in meatbags his current master would wish removed from the galaxy.

Back in 2020 they were talking about moving Lucasfilm from Skywalker Ranch to the souless offices on the Disney Campus. That might be back on the menus now.

Back in 2000, when Lucas was trying to consolidate most of the empire over to the Presidio, the estimated rent for the offices was going to be $5 million a year.

A funny line from the year 2000 article
Lucas envisions the Letterman Digital Center as a centerpiece of the digital revolution, which is changing the way movies are made and distributed. As it becomes a magnet for creative and technical people, the project could, in theory, shift the center of the filmmaking industry from Los Angeles to the Bay Area.

Just for clarity. Lucasfilm isn't run from Skywalker Ranch. Lucas still owns it. Skywalker Sound is there. Lucasfilm rents stuff there but I don't really know what the rest of it is used for besides Lucasfilm staff events.

Lucasfilm and ILM are in the Presidio in San Fran. Which is a prime piece of land with great views of the Golden Gate Bridge. That's where that Yoda statue is, in front of the main entrance. To the left is a cinema, to the right is the reception.

So ubisoft is making a GTA star wars game which is cool. Outlaws.

Unfortunately the main character is a stupid bitch in the vein of Fray from Forspoken. She actually looks kinda attractive and the gameplay is neat but im not buying it.
