I'll give them the tiniest of credit that 17k is more representative than the 900 or so some other mod groups treated as gospel to justify closing their subreddit (cough /r/nba cough)

The issue is they're treating 17k or whatever scant amount of people voting like it's some study for their dumbass research paper. Which of course redditors are pretending to be magic scientists.

This isn't about a sample size of the population, this is voting for a massive community happening that will effect the entire communal landscape, and if you can only get like 10% of voters to actually vote, then your proposal was so shit, or your community just doesn't trust you at all.

They have declared that despite the threats, they will continue the blackout protest. I'm not sure how you continue the protest if you lose your mod abilities and your subreddit gets reopened with new management, but there we go.
The mods are replying to this post with comments listing their subreddits to show they're co-signatories. Most of them are subreddits nobody has ever heard of.
