This the recent Diaz & Bailey paper on ROGD. Tannehill says that it "fail[ed] to get informed consent from the minors being written about", and PZ Myers calls it "astonishingly sloppy, biased work".

What actually happened? SEGM has a good summary:

In March 2023, the Archives of Sexual Behavior published a peer-reviewed paper, Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria: Parent Reports on 1655 Possible Cases. As the title indicates, the paper examined 1,655 reports from parents who reported that their previously gender-normative teens developed transgender identities and described the context in which this occurred (typically, both social influence and pre-existing mental health problems were contributing factors). Springer has just announced that the paper is to be retracted.

What were the complaints about it?

Initially, the reason for the retraction was cited as failure to obtain IRB approval for the study. However, when it was confirmed that IRB approval was not required, Springer came up with a different reason for retraction. The official and final reason for the retraction provided by Springer is that the survey participants did not explicitly consent to have their aggregated answers shared in a “scholarly” and “peer-reviewed” publication

What are the implications of this new standard for survey-based research?

Should Springer Nature commit to universally apply its policies, it is safe to say that the publisher will need to search all 3,139 of its journals, come up with an accurate way to identify all publications that may be based on respondent-supplied data, and then scrutinize the consent forms to determine whether the words “scholarly” and “peer-reviewed” appeared in the consent forms. If the identified papers failed to use this specific language in the consent forms, it would seem that Springer is looking at retracting tens of thousands of publications.

Tens of thousands of publications! Who else has published research that, according to Tannehill, "fail[ed] to get informed consent from the minors being written about"? Jack Turban!

Turban published a study in a Springer journal discussing the unique inpatient needs and experiences of adolescents who identify as transgender. While the study’s methods claim to have obtained informed consent to participate in the study, nowhere does it mention having obtained explicit permission “to have their responses published in a peer reviewed article,” a requirement Springer now apparently deems necessary to apply retrospectively. Will Springer extend its scrutiny to Turban’s paper, demanding documented proof of explicit written consent from every participant for the publication of their data?

The Diaz & Bailey paper is being retracted because troons don't like its findings, that's it. They tried the same thing with Lisa Littman's ROGD paper: the publisher pulled it pending a review, and then republished it unchanged.

The Springer decision, like the American Medical Association statement the other day, is part of a collossal rejection of intellectual honesty. These people will, shamelessly, turn round in the future and ask "Why don't people believe what we say anymore?" and they will only have themselves to blame.

Regarding the first set of pics, it's that very subtle narrowing of the brows that shows he's flinching, however softly, as a man kisses him.

I doubt very much Tony has gone through enough personal trauma to be the type to flinch for a while at physical affection from even people you love, 'til you get used to it and thus begin to heal. By now he definitely should be used to Zac being affectionate. And also, I doubt any claims he's shifted downwards for Zac to kiss or anything. Timing of the selfies looks like it happened right in succession. That's indisputably flinching.

I would genuinely prefer to be single than be with someone I didn't like, much less be with someone outside my preferred sexuality. I can't imagine the personal stress Tony has between having to LARP as enjoying males versus knowing he'd genuinely be alone otherwise based on his life choices.
