Yeah, they cheaped out on this shit. Fucking 250k a ticket, didn't even spring for the Xbox Elite, just a $30 ancient controller. 'Good enough' doesn't work for undersea exploration.

From multiple different things I've read and heard, there are a few small windows of opportunity to actually do the dive due to the weather and seas out there. They send the folks out on the boat for several days and assess whether it is doable. If the weather is playing nice they can go down a few times. This was the one opportunity in the season.

I wonder how rushed the crew felt given that everyone paid that much money for the seat.

I have less sympathy thinking about it because these guys weren't explorers, they were rubberneckers.
One person who I do think is unfairly laughed at is the flat earther who killed himself in his own rocket. Hear me out.
He didn't trust the data and wanted to take photos with a non fish eye lens, and see the curve of the earth himself (or disprove it). I saw many academic friends sneer at him. Probably the same cunts who caused the replication crisis come to think of it.
That man had more of the spirit of empirical science in him than any of those people. He wanted his own evidence and he died trying to prove it. That's one of the most noble deaths for humanity.

Fucking hell, billionaires are buying 2005 controllers for deep sea subs, meanwhile when I emulate Switch on my PC I bought an official Nintendo gamepad to do it with. Fucking stupid nigger, he will have cut costs everywhere.

If they are floating in the surface, and lost …daft question but can they open the door and let air in or are they going to suffocate while knowing they’re in the surface? That would be exceptionally cruel somehow.

Even worse is that the weather has been the worst in 40 years. Yeah, its no picnic if you're just floating idly along, but when you're getting smashed by wave after wave, no seat-belts, you're getting smashed around that cockpit with shit, piss and vomit...

They saw something they were not meant to see, something giving credence to the conspiracy theories about the sinking/identification of the Ship. And/or this was a malicious act to prevent people going down the wreck anymore.

After the craft is found, there will be a 'no dive zone' around the site for 'safety' reasons.
