Fun facts about the Logitech F710 controller:
-It was originally released in 2010, and Logitech has been manufacturing it without any changes ever since then. And throughout those 13 years much better alternatives came up on the market, such as the Xbox One controller that doesn't have the same flaw as the F710 where if it falls on the floor your triggers are instantly broken
-It is a PC controller from the Xbox 360 era, which you can tell by the fact it still has a switch between DInput and XInput. In short, DInput is the controller API Microsoft used since the 90's and XInput is their "new" API from 2005. XInput allows for less supported buttons and axis' (limited to what the X360 controller had) compared to DInput where all buttons were marked as 1. 2, 3 and you had to manually map them, but it allows for easier implementation by game devs to make sure that your controller will be properly mapped from the start. Ever since then XInput is the de facto standard and Windows automatically converts XInput to DInput in older games, so you don't even really need a physical API switch to use a modern controller in older games.
-It's only means of connectivity is a shitty little proprietary 2.4GHz USB dongle, no possibility for an USB connection, kinda like the old Xbox 360 wireless controller that could only connect to a Windows PC with a dedicated adapter. If you buy a 1st party Xbox controller today, it is capable of connecting via USB, Bluetooth, or it's dedicated 2.4GHz dongle, so you have options between a working but less than ideal Bluetooth connection, a solid lagless wired connection, or best of both worlds with Microsoft's 2.4GHz dongle.
These motherfuckers cheaped out so fucking hard on this grift they've bought one of the worst game controllers available on the market today, and that's from a PC gamer's standpoint, and they've used that shit to steer a fucking submarine. If they were inspired by drone operators that use Xbox controllers to steer the drones, they've forgot that drones are unmanned, if it crashes you only lose some cash but not a single human life.
I swear, if this debacle will lead to Logitech
finally dumping this 13 year old dinosaur from the market I will lose my shit.
