I watched the speech. Putin looked royally pissed and not the least bit nervous. He was animated and had the demeanor of a riled up cobra. "Fidgeting" lol.

And then video of a truck being blown up with no authentication regarding source so colour me skeptical. There's been no authenticated reports of any violence except claims, via Telegram, that a couple of helicopters have been shot down. Looking back it's apparent that Prigozhin has been planning this for a while. He's been saying objectively lunatic nonsense about the situation in the Donbas including that the regular Russian army are riven with dissent, that the Ukraine is making massive advances and that the RF military are close to collapse. He also came out and repeated Ukraine/NATO talking points verbatim before launching his gay op i.e. that the Ukrainian government wasn't shelling the Donbas and that they weren't planning any attacks against the DPR/LPR, again laughably and objectively untrue.

You don't overthrow the RF government with a few thousand troops and no air support. It increasingly looks like Prighozhin expected a preference cascade in his favor when he made his move, either because he's a delusional retard or he was led down the garden path by his NATO handlers. First of all Russia is finally stepping up to challenge the United States for the title of meme country of the decade. Secondly, it looks like luckily we are not going to get Russian Civil War 2.0 Nuclear weapons edition. That's a plus no matter who you are.

1. Putin negotiates and with some grumbling it goes back to the Status quo only to explode again at a possible less opportune moment.
2. Putin finally puts his foot down. Disbands the PMC and finally starts fixing the core issues that made PMCs needed in the first place. This could also have the added benefit of raising moral in the regular army because after all everyone is happy if the guys trashtalking you 24/7 get taken out.

While I don't buy the Wagner propaganda that they are some kind of elite unit, they showed that they can outperform the regular army in some offensive operations.

6 billion is nothing to someone like Prigozhin. Only way he joined the West is if he's getting to control Ukraine as some shadowy behind the scenes guy after the war, or maybe if he gets to join WEF and Bilderberg. I don't think a military coup in Russia is likely to trigger Article 5 anytime soon. Unless they go nuclear warlord but at that point we are already fucked so who cares.

It would still be a decent amount of money to him, but the thing is if you are super motivated by money in Russia you don't run a PMC. With the connection he has there are a lot of ways to make mad money in that still very corrupt place.
