- Nick got a speeding ticket but weirdly, someone in chat brought it up.
Thanks for flagging this. The reason someone in chat brought it up might be because the case information is now available on MCRO. If so, it turns out that Rekieta's Locals chat are quicker on the ball looking for court updates than this thread or the lawsuit thread in the other subforum. For shame!
Overview
Rekieta got popped for going 80 in a 65 back in April of this year.
Before you ask: yes, he was in the Mustang.
Let's look at the timeline (left image). There are two documents available online. The most recent is a late notice dated May 22 (right). Rekieta was warned that a $5 late penalty had been applied. He was further warned that an additional $25 "delinquent penalty" would be applied if he did not appear in court or pay the balance due by June 21st. It appears he did neither, based on a series of three case events dated June 26: ""Failed to Appear or Pay Fine in Lieu of Appearing", "Second Penalty Added", and "Conviction Sent to DPS":

Incident
The second document available on MCRO is the information from the citation itself.
The Minnesota State Patrol officer wrote that he stopped Rekieta in Willmar at 6:44am on April 15 after his radar clocked Nick at 81mph in a 65mph zone in "raining wet cloudy" conditions. According to the document, Nick told the officer that he was driving to "bring [his] child to [a] speech meet".
The document also states that Nick also said that he "did not know he was going that fast" and that he "wasn't paying attention".
Nick was issued a citation for going 80 in a 65. He was driving in his red 2022 Ford Mustang with license plate "LAWPOPE".
Historical weather data from the website Time and Date (
link to April 2023 data - you have to select April 15 manually) claims that in the 6am hour on April 15 the temperature in the region was 37 degrees with light rain possibly turning into snow.
Context
April 15th is a Saturday and this incident occurred mere hours after one of Nick's Friday "fun" streams (
link). Here's a sample from a part of the YouTube stream I clicked to, where Dick Masterson is talking about whether or not he'd like to have rumors spread about him sleeping with high school students as a 42 year old:
Before people speculate, I want to be fair and say that regular viewers would have noticed Nick was acting outside his normal routine for his Friday streams that night. He was not drinking to excess and it looks like he switched to drinking water well before the end of the stream. There's nothing to indicate that his drinking on stream would pose problems for driving later in the morning.
But it appears that the stream started around 11:06pm Central time and lasted for nearly 4.5 hours, so he was streaming until just about 3:30am Central. That's not a lot of time to rest before getting on the road and getting pulled over by 6:45am. At the end of Nick's stream that night, he apologized for not being able to do a post-stream Locals stream, because he has to "get the three hours of sleep that I can muster" before he has to "drive this kid to, to his uh, he's in, sections for speech, I guess".
State of play
MCRO currently claims that Nick has yet to bother to pay his ticket, which started at $150 but has now increased to $180 after the two additional penalties.
