For MTF:
I've noticed a least-resistance pattern. Jesse now goes by Jessica, Aaron now goes by Erin, Samuel now goes by Samantha, Patrick now goes by Patricia, etc. Sure, they'll dress their online persona up with that "empowered goddess lilith" bullshit but in the real world they change their name in a way to make their transition easier for their family to accept.

Don't know how that can help you clock one, but when you do clock a Samantha, you can bet dollars to donuts that his deadname is Samuel.

For FTM:
They always pick the "cool" guy names that are about 25 years outdated. Ash, Aiden, Tyler, Kai, Max. There are no FTM Bills, no FTM Roberts, no FTM Thomases. No names of middle-aged mediocrity, just straight to the cool guy name of the faggot leaning back in his chair, wearing sunglasses indoors.

The common theme seems to be names that are mostly heard on little boys now, who haven't yet matured into the manly macho men the pooners don't want to become. Guys their age are named Daniel, Nathan, Matthew and James, classic, non-trendy and undeniably masculine, which doesn't fit with the TIF ideal of cute androgynous teenage boy, probably wearing an oversized pastel coloured hoodie. It's the exact same reason "he/they" pronouns are so common amongst that lot, rather than trying to imitate a man in every possible way (like the older FTMs e.g. Buck Angel) they're instead going for a weak watered down version of masculinity that's ironically still feminine (albeit not in the same way heavy makeup, miniskirts, heels and all the things they're transitioning to get away from are). More often than not the goal is to escape womanhood rather than become male. At least, that's my theory.

I've come across a few online and even met one IRL I'd say were trying to escape womanhood by trooning, but the TIFs also have their own equivalent of the porn-addict AGPs; girls addicted to yaoi and/or slash fanfiction who decide they want to become the uwu softboi they so often flicked the bean to.

How can you guys forget names of female comic book characters or video game characters? I've seen so many trannies name themselves Harley, Ivy, Selena, Barbara, Storm, Rouge, Kitty, Jennifer, Gwen, Jinx, Tracer, Laura, Yuffie, Samus, Rosalina. Another common names among MtF's are season names like Winter and Autumn.

The thing is that every name can be a tranny name.

There's ones like Persephone, Freya, Faye, Lilith, or Sapphire which are all tranny red flags. It's hard to imagine a mother holding a baby girl in her arms saying "Ah, yes. Let's name her Morrigan". If I see someone with those names online, I have zero doubt it's a tranny.
Then you have ones like Hilda, Bertha, or Gertrude. Playing armchair psychologist, I think the grandma names are overcompensation for the fantasy or stripper names. These are just yellow flags, though. It's not out of the question that a real woman can have these names. Either because she's grandma-aged or is named after her grandma.
Also, Japanese names on a white person. But if you can see that the person is white, then you can also see that he's a dude, so it's not very useful for tranny identification.

Those are the only ones that I'd consider eyebrow-raising. Some trannies do just choose normal names. Either because they're slight variants of their real names (Like Robert into Roberta or Christian into Christine, for example) or what someone earlier in the thread called "skinwalker names". Even the most normal names can be skinwalker names. There aren't any names I can think of that are absolutely not trannies.

With FTM's, it's harder to tell. I know the classic pooner names are anything that rhymes with Aiden, but those are also just zoomer names. I don't think there's a single name that outs a TIF 100% the same way Luna or Samus outs a TIM.

there have been cases of mega weeb parents who named their children after anime characters. it's rare, but it exists, there are some white american boys out there who are named shinji, and girls named kagome.

however these weebname kids are much much rarer than trannies i think so if you stumble upon some obvious westerner with a name kile motoko then seeing it as a potential sign of trannery makes sense

It's useful. Asian-Asians keep to themselves, and Asian-Americans assimilate fast. A 2nd generation Japanese-American will have a White real first name or at least a pseudonym for interacting with Anglos. Female Japanese name + Anglo topics = troon. (It used to be that it could be a weeb girl, but these days they'd murder each other over TCP/IP for muh cultural appropriation.)

I think it's mostly just stupid frumpy teenage girls picking main character names. It's the same reason TIMs pick stripper names, it's just part and parcel of being a troon.

Re Finn: this name and close variants are megapopular in Scotland and Ireland because, eh, that's the cultural and linguistic background of the name.

Many pooners best efforts at having a "cultural heritage" (lol u white) involve an Irish or Scottish great grandparent, so they go through the Celtic baby boy name lists on baby name sites and voila! Finn.

None of em ever seem to have the true and honest balls to go for, say, Thorbjorn or Sindri.
