What the fuck are "programmer's socks" and why are are tech communities so degenerate? - Alternatively: why is every other programmer a tranny for some reason?

It's because troons have hijacked the FOSS movement.

Anyone who wants to code for a living has to rack up a few contributions to open source projects to make their resumes look more attractive to future employers... and almost every project on GitHub with more than one contributor has at least one troon in it.

The only way you can be a programmer and not fall victim to troondom is to be a lone wolf like Terry A. Davis.

Sadly, there's not a lot of money in being a lone wolf programmer unless you want to do something really esoteric. Think along the lines of a language where the barrier to entry is quite high and the language itself is seriously uncool. However said language underpins a lot of mission-critical systems for governments, financial institutions etc.

Yes, I mean COBOL.

Most COBOL programmers are in their 60s and just want to retire, but can't because there's nobody to take over from them. Hence they end up on very lucrative contracts to keep maintaining all this old code that's worked great for the past 50 years, yet still needs a bit of fettling now and then for various reasons.

tl;dr: learn to COBOL

Also Java and .NET are pretty free of troons, so if you can't stand interacting with COBOL without wanting to blow your brains out, there's back-up plans. PHP is probably mostly fine too but I don't interact much with that community.

Most troon programmers are awful. They spend their time talking about being a troon, how difficult it is being a troon, all the meds and therapy they need to not 41% themselves, organizing the next pride parade, which elementary schools have easy-to-access bathrooms, and how detransitioners are still troons.

Do troons contribute anything to open source projects besides guilt real developers into fixing their shit?

I don't know either, but it needs to stop. Even Lisp is being taken over. It used to be a few kind greybeards on some mailing lists, now the troons are taking over and making it a fucking joke.
There was some bizarre fetishization of SICP going on in the early 2010s where it was the book that would make you the one true computer programmer.

To nobody's surprise this lines up pretty well when everyone started "finding their true gender."

Computer nerds have had access to the weirdest porn from the earliest age. Pair that with natural male competitive nature and you've got a bunch of autists who spend all their time online to stay ahead of their peers and want to push those boundaries further and further, not just in programming but in niche tastes. Of course this comes at the price of neglecting one's ability to interface with reality, further isolating them into freakshow communities where the competition to be the most out there turns into the big leagues.

It's the same with the online art communities that breed coomer pooners.

How are there walls of text trying to explain this? It's pretty simple:

>Programmers are more likely than the gen pop to be autistic
>""""Gender Dysphoria"""" is a common autistic fixation

It's kinda why I'm wary of getting into coding, even as a hobby, if you want to get into it, you need to either go for old shit or curry shit like Java. It might be useful eventually, but things like weirdos wearing pink striped socks put me off

Even then that's no guarantee you'll completely avoid the troon menace, especially if you want to noodle about with 8-bit retro shit like BASIC or Z80/6502 assembler. Though there are a few old-timey languages such as C, COBOL, Forth and Pascal that haven't been ruined yet.

As for Java... as you point out, there are hundreds of millions of pajeets shitting out Java code. The troons are well and truly outnumbered there.

At that point, jumping in has gotten difficult. Not impossible by any stretch, but annoying enough that it's gonna take alot to make me consider it. Which is sad, I'd liked screwing around with the tools in Blender in HS, even if I sucked. Can't exactly make a game or anything with them without knowing at least some modern languages that have been infested. Personally I'm interested in C+, it seems to be the bread and butter of the modern world and less bulky than Java. But I'm sure there is programmer sock tranny taint, which makes me sad

C and its derivatives are generally too low-level to attract the more obnoxious programmer socks. They prefer higher level horseshit like Javascript, Ruby, Python, Rust, etc.
Honestly if you want to get into programming and are legit blocked by being worried about troon contamination you might be extremely online. It's not like you have to take their advice or contribute to their projects to learn to write good code. There's plenty of normal dweebs in the community as well.

You might be right that I'm on this site too much lol. Good to know about C and its line up though, that's comforting. I can always grab a For Dummies book and start out on my own, old school.

If you're going to go with C, I recommend starting with the C book, there's only one.
C Programming Language, 2nd Edition
by Brian W. Kernighan (Author), Dennis M. Ritchie (Author)
You might consider starting with microcontrollers like Arduino(which is C/C++ more or less, but you can mostly ignore the C++) or Raspberry Pi Pico(get the W version and the soldered headers, it's easier).
Then you can play with interacting with the physical world.

I for one see nothing wrong with programming socks.

Thanks for the recommendation! Yeah, working on a small project would probably be best honestly, figure shit out

Social transmission, lack of exercise and sunlight with horrible diet and bad hormone levels, poor socialization in youth along with finding a "supportive" "community" that lays false praise upon them. Humans crave attention more than they do money.

Because programming is hard, and being any good at it requires being the sort of person who can happily spend most of his life in front of a computer screen. His work is programming. His play is video games. His friends are usernames. And, importantly, his sex life is masturbating to porn. As a consequence, lots of nerds have porn-fueled fetishes. AGP is just one of many; it merely happens to be the most socially celebrated of all fetishes right now, and as a result, the nerds who drift that way, rather than being pressured to keep a lid on it and cut back on the anime dickgirl porn, are celebrated as heroes when they start posting pictures of themselves cross-dressing in public.

In the good old days, yes, you wore conductive socks and conductive shoes so you were grounded to the floor and didn't statically damage the equipment you were working on. Obviously there are other options for anti-static depending on what you are working on.

Of course now it's some tranny shit with knee-high socks that have nothing to do with programming.

Reminds me of a server room guy who was always wearing those anti static shoe covers at a former job of mine.

I asked him if they paid him so badly that he couldn't afford shoes, so was reduced to wearing bags.

They did.
