  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
How far are they going back to?
No clue. It looks more like they checked for any comments deleted within the last 24 hours and restored everything in that block. So it's not about when the comment was originally made, but when you delete it.
I've re-deleted them to see if it happens again now that people are catching on and will be looking for it.

Part of Reddit's mod holocaust, r/asshole design new top mod is a furry mod, also on r/politics and r/worldnews.

Reddit gave the sub the 48 hours deadline but put who they wanted in place early.

UGMadness said they didn't care about being a top mod and would let someone else have it. After previously accusing the other mods of trying to collect subreddits (even though UGMadness doesn't actively mod r/assholedesign and they do) one user who does not mod multiple subs took him up on the offer to be the new top mod. That user was since removed as moderator.

"Receipts" gathered to dispute the claim that we were not active or engaged with the community. While the subreddit was private, we were answering most modmails and trying to be as helpful as we could.

One of the mods gets removed for arguing

I can't be the only person going to a reddit community, seeing that it's now private and thinking, "Hmm. This site is now useless to me" and then not going back, right?
>protest reddit "potentially" killing communities and rendering some unusable
>fail
>proceed to intentionally kill communities and attempt to render some unusable
It's sad, honestly. Only some of the r/emulation subs are closed, so that info is still somewhat available.

Thanks, but where can I read more in depth?
Most of the subs that chronicled it are currently shuttered.

Specifically, there has always been a contingent of shitheads on metafilter who dislike wrongspeak, and REALLY want to steer the site. They occasionally get thumped and dumped, but most of the time they flounce off, in site parlance "buttoning"

Matthowie, the original site owner got tired of running the site and sold it to Cortex, Josh Millard http://joshmillard.com/

People constantly got mad because Cortex would mix it up with shitheads while wearing his moderator hat, kind of like how null gets tired of shitheads and bounces them.
This drew heavy criticism from the contingent (they call themselves the cabal)
One thing the cabal constantly demands is that metafilter become a nonprofit 501 c (I don't actually understand that shit, but the actual staff are extremely hostile to the suggestion)
They managed to bully cortex into a "steering committee" and "BIPOC board" where they pay minorities to tell them how to run the site.
Cortex absolutely lost his shit over a trans wanting their entire comment history being nuked from the site and was all "That is not something we offer, and we do not want to do that"
Cue 3000+ comments from people not liking that position.

Eventually he got sick of the site, but always said how he would "preserve" it. He ended up selling the site to an Ex moderator who still posted a lot on the site, Jessamyn. Jessamyn is a library nerd.

After taking over, Jessamyn has been a mostly hands off site leader, trying to keep the site afloat. The lawyers for the site told her to absolutely stop the "Steering committee" and so it was disbanded. Apparently the BIPOC board is ongoing.
You might be able to read more on ironically, reddit.

Homie that is just fucking hilariously no life. I used to think that someone playing world of warcraft was the peak of no lifing something, but fuck me man, this level of drama over being a moderator is just hilarious.
at least playing games is fun.
jannying isn't even fun, they only do it because they crave that feeling of power it gives them. that's what makes it extra pathetic.

I think people aren't thinking long-term when it comes to these janny protests. Sure, there's 0 effect now, but I'm really curious what's going to happen once all these API tools go offline. The jannies love using tools to shadowban people and remove shit by keyword that goes against their narrative. The default reddit tools don't really allow this (unless something's changed since I used to run my own small sub years ago).
I think the big thing that's going to happen is all the mainstream subs will start seeing previously censored talking points, along with bots spamming marketing bullshit, and people will start to sperg out and it'll be made harder on the jannies to do their expected job (reddit community self moderate with up/downdoots. These faggots just want the power to push a narrative).

The Jannies already killed these communities long ago. Its about fucking time they were eaten alive by the very same banhappy hellscape they helped turn the larger overall internet into.
