I'm curious, what do you all think of James's video from a few years back about popular movies he doesn't like as much? I'm not a movie buff by any stretch, but it's a video I think about every once in a while. It's interesting hearing his perspective as someone who studied some of those movies when they were new.

Pretty normie tier.

I remember it being pretty good. The only movie I care about on that list is The Matrix, and James talks about how he figures it was so popular because of bullet time. and how he got annoyed by all the bullet time parodies he'd see later on.

He's an autistic filmmaker, so it makes sense that he'd focus squarely on a filming technique that became a fad for a while, and not notice how The Matrix was a real nexus of Y2K style at the time.

I know some people (the Truthers) like to rag on James's taste in movies, as if what he personally likes matters to anyone else. He can like/dislike whatever.

The Matrix sucks and is a total ripoff of Neuromancer.

Rollergames really shines in the music. The controls and feel of the game is what makes it off-putting. Since you're on rollerskates, the stages are basically "the ice level" with isometric platforming ala Sonic 3d Blast, so making PRECISE jumps and maneuvers are 2x as important and crucial (outside of autoscrolling levels of course).

I had that game as a kid, never watched the show though. I only got to the Junkyard stage and never bothered to pick it up to actually finish it all the way through. It's on my "to-do" list, but it's not an important item on it. Looking at Jame's video, it looks like shit gets REALLY retarded near the end, so I'm kinda glad I'm avoiding it (for now).

Rollergames is merely "okay" depending on your love of all things Konami/Ultra Games. But to say it's an underrated title is asinine.

Weird thing is that in the video James mentioned Shatterhand but doesn't actually cover Shatterhand. Shatterhand, even though it's gotten decent praise nowadays, is the poster boy of underrated NES action masterpieces. And yes, I would call Shatterhand a masterpiece of 8 bit gaming.

Totally agree with you on both games there. It may sound like some petty "Truther" shit, but I was once again distracted by his weird ass shirt. Bimmy has inherited CWC's fashion sense in the last decade except it's buttons instead of stripes. Thank God he was at least wearing a hat in this one.

What really kills ALL his videos for me now is the fact that I know he doesn't play the games or care about gaming at all. It doesn't matter how well the script is written, the passion will never be there. James, please just fucking hang up your pocket protector and get a different job already you stupid cuck.

P.S. That "You Know What's Bullshit? - Screenwave" video was priceless. Proof that the milk still hasn't run dry when it comes to those clowns slobs.

I accidentally came across something weird today and thought it was interesting enough to share here. *DISCLAIMER* I did a full search of the forums and didn't see anything mentioned about this previously, if it has been or I am wrong somehow then I apologize for being a retarded newfag. Anyway...

I have been checking out old video games that I missed back in the day and happened upon Battle of Olympus for NES. I got about half way through and just got pissed and rage quit due to the shitty hit detection and enemy patterns. I decided to check youtube to just watch some sperg play the rest of the game instead and see if anyone else found it as frustrating.

To my surprise there was a James and Mike Monday episode for it. This should be interesting, I thought. I only watched the first 10-15 minutes, which was mostly James babbling and both of them pretty much dismissing the game as a Zelda clone. One thing I noticed was James kept calling it "Battle of THE Olympus". I initially wrote it off as his tard issues (burr-ied, woof-man, IFUCKINGLOVEBUTTONS!, etc.) but then I saw the title screen they showed...

what. the. actual. fuck?

I wondered, was I just the tard myself and had been misreading it this whole time? So I checked other videos, read text reviews and booted the No-Intro ROM myself to double check...

Here is a link to the video:
J&MM-Battle of Olympus

So...Did they edit that video to hide Bimmy's retardation or am I missing something? Again, sorry if I am wrong. If I'm not, pass it on to the Truthers (I deleted my reddit sock a long time ago).

Edit: I forgot to mention that they do show the proper title screen at the beginning (side by side with Zelda 2), but once you get to around 01:21 in you'll see the change. Regardless, James calls it by the wrong name from the start.

I did check out tcrf.net, other videos and the video itself.

At 1:28, the title is glitched:

But at 1:31, screen flashes and the title fixes itself:

In the glitched version, there are no "stars" shining among the letters and "tm" is absent. The cart is the NA version. The glitched title is absent from other carts so IMO the title is being procedurally generated and got fucked up by some kind of hardware error. There's always a possibility that "Battle of the Olympus" graphic is an unused one that nobody bothered to discover and got printed on the screen by a hardware mishap.

If the video was shopped, why not shop out the screen flash? Anyway great find.

I doubt it is a hardware glitch. It looks a lot like a bad shoop. It could be game footage used from a cheap bootleg that accidentally got spliced in with real cartridge footage?
You sure this wasn't done by an editor just as as a joke at James flubbing the title multiple times?
That is kind of my thought now. Or just a sloppy editor thinking nobody would notice? I wouldn't have thought twice if Bimmy hadn't become such a clown years ago... and I wasn't trying to play through this retarded game. The jewtube algorithm strikes back!

New AVGN:

I didn't watch it. I just gave a thumbs down and moved on. The view count is not terribly encouraging.
This one was ok in some parts, but dragged on way too long again. Why does he pad everything out to at least 1/3 longer than it needs to be. I will say though if you don't see his baldness he has aged pretty well between the KOTCS vid and this one.

I thought this was a very good episode by today's AVGN standard. It didn't feel as stale and tired, perhaps because Indiana Jones is a series James genuinely likes. Then again, I always enjoy the episodes where he goes through a number of games, good and bad ones, the most. Also, I think the bit at the end where the nerd gets erased from history was a reference to the leaked ending, that was pretty neat.

Decent episode, I liked it for what it was.

I didn't mind this episode. There is one thing that bothered me though. The degradation effect they used on the footage during gameplay is atrocious. It makes you think you're going blind. There's way better ways of achieving a retro effect on the footage And out of all of those they chose this stupid jitter effect that just makes you want to gouge your eyes out.

Once again a cool idea implemented in a below amateur way by the screenwave slobs. C plus
