I can speak Screenwave wasn't just terrible for James but any other youtuber with any association with them.

They handled merch for Gamesack and took almost a year just to get a pair of blurays and a shirt. Ignored all my emails a few months after I ordered, only to received a generic email telling me "due to behind the scenes going on it's gonna be a minute!"

Board James was good but then he killed it off. Monster Madness could've been expanded into him talking about Godzilla movies or horror movies he likes which were enjoyable to listen to. Those videos all did well. He could've done more of that.

James and Mike Mondays were also unscripted, low-effort content that produced a month's worth of content in one 8-hour shoot.

Watching the Earthworm Jim review, I'm not surprised that the Nerd did his usual over the top angry outburst in the underwater level, because that's exactly where I used to get pissed off when playing EWJ as a kid. I'm surprised that he completely neglected the "Andy Asteroids" mini-games in between each level where you race against Psy-Crow. Those were always my favorite part, and the fact that they pop up after every level, you would think he would at least mention that in passing.

AVGN's sudden rapid hair loss was unexpected.

(as is him being considered a lolcow on here)

What a difference a year makes.

Board James was my favorite non AVGN content he did and I was mad when he discontinued it.
It started to suck like the last year and not only because of them being separated cuz of the 'Rona but because how they handles games they never played before, look at Battle of Olympus, how can you be dismissive of that classic and in the same breath talk about how great Zelda 2 was?

His main Youtube channel was ineligible for monetization (I think because of swearing) for several years but he also put his videos up on ScrewAttack which ran ads and for sure gave him a cut of it.
That's not what he says in the book from everything I've heard, which is why everyone on the reddit was like "WTF is he talking about?"

So is he lying or what?

those were good ol days, getting an hour or two of mike really trying to beat the game while bimmy slept.

J&MM was unironically my favourite Cinemassacre content by far, though I see by the thread poll I'm in the superminority.

It's easy to forget too, that though edited, it was the community's first and thorough look at unscripted, IRL, non-AVGN Bimmy.

We liked James and Mike's energy and legit dynamic since they have been friends for a long time. You can't really fake that sort of feel. It felt natural.

Besides Mike had established enough of a presence at that point so we know who he is and he is an important member of the channel.

It really felt like watching two bffs playing a game on a couch like they are both kids again

James never feels the same with the SW crew since he barely knows them.
It was already beginning in the first one but it's shocking how fast his hairline went back from one year to the other.

As far as his rapidly degrading hairline goes, I think he either got a haircut and couldn't or just decided to stop combing his hair down to try and hide it tbqh

He literally did Godzillathon, it was the second or third Monster Madness.
He reviewed all movies available at the time, from Gojira to Final Wars.

But yeah, Monster Madness clearly had a lot of passion in his voice. Not as much anymore.
He also covered more campy horror movies in 2010 under Camp Cult and some B-grade 80s horror movies in 2012 under 80s-a-thon

Board James was easily my 2nd hand-to-hand favorite of mine also, which he did from time to time till he decided to abruptly end it with no plans to continue the series.

Didn't he? I recall him saying that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the game that made him get a genesis

I am well aware of that clip but he does not say when he got the Genesis. He could have bought one during his college years and getting drunk with Mike playing vidya.

Just the fact that he never refers to any classic Genesis titles aside from Sanic confirms it to me. He never mentioned the Genesis Aladdin, Contra: Hardcorps, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Golden Axe, Comix Zone, Shinobi 3, Gunstar Heroes, Ristar, Rocket Knight Adventures, Kid Chameleon, Splatterhouse 2 and 3, Vectorman, Toejam and Earl, and others I could be forgetting but these are common tent pole titles normies know of.

Yes, I know he mentioned Contra: Hardcorps and Castlevania: Bloodlines but that was in overall highlight reels of both franchises and he doesn't go into a terrible amount of detail for either game other than saying "Yeah, they're good... But I still prefer my SNES!"

That’s a good point. He definately wasn’t a SEGA guy. I have some of those games and will have to look into some of the others.

He’s talked about a few of those games, but I don’t think in reference to his childhood. I know he’s talked about Toejam and Earl for example
