I just cannot buy the conventional narrative of sexual orientation as this innate and totally binary characteristic. The overwhelming amount of evidence, the witness of historical societies ranging from the Greeks, to the Persians, to the Japanese, and the empirical findings of modern sexology, that sexuality is heavily influenced by our environment, makes doing so a total impossibility. Meanwhile there is no actual hard proof that sexuality is hard-coded in us. We have found no gay genes, in fact studies on identical twins show only IIRC about a 50% chance that both individuals turn out gay, which would be impossible if it was directly genetic. Instead proponents beg the question, and assume a priori the born this way narrative to be true, letting the conclusion dictate the evidence instead of the evidence dictating the conclusion. "There have always been, in all societies throughout time, a small subset of the population, around 2%, which have been identical to modern, western homosexuals in all which that entails: they have just hidden themselves". Or, as we have seen in this thread: "the reason homosexuals are disproportionally sexually molested is because gender-nonconforming children are targeted".

Hell, adults who get raped become asexual out of trauma, or become hypersexual. Why wouldn’t the sexuality change as well? Troons even talk about their sexuality changing once they take hormones, which was what hormones were created for in the first place (see: Alan Turing.)

But yeah, you can be born gay/bi/straight as well. Forced heterosexuality doesn’t work because whatever trauma (or birth) that makes you gay has to happen very, very young imo, and sometimes it still won’t happen. Plenty of ‘lesbians’ out there who would be straight women (and are still attracted to men) who now can’t be ‘cause Uncle Lester had his way when she was a tot.

Also, something like 1/3rd of all women are raped in childhood, and women on average in sexual tests are found to be more sexually fluid. Something to think about.

It’s not as simple as get abused, be gay.
Disorders of sexual orientation are caused by developmental disturbances which cause inappropriate sexual experiences and imprinting during a critical age. Instead of safely and gradually developing a normal sexuality as you go through your puberty and teens, there’s an inappropriate stimulus somewhere. Abuse, violence, porn too young, all sorts of stuff can disturb normal development. A bit like how attachment issues can develop in younger kids and end up as personality disorders, inappropriate stimuli can end up with weird fetishes or inappropriate sexuality. Then the internet amplifies everything instead of rigid social mores straightening it out.
I often wonder if the furries are the consequence of anthropomorphic cartoons.
