And your point^ was precisely what I realized about 1/4 way through the OP. I am certain it's not everyone, but there is absolutely a certain subgroup who "need" to be a perceived victim class, perhaps due to having grown up as the absolute opposite; arrogating to yourself some oppressed class points gives you (something you perceive as) legitimacy, a cause, a "noble mission," a reason to be special or angry - and a lot of community and political reinforcement. It conveniently bolsters your every personal issue to "human rights" universal levels, so that every struggle, every micro-aggression, criticism, critique, or honest mistake gets to be morally (and often legally and politically) escalated as a suicide-driving and "transphobic" crisis. Instead of being "the Man" (literally and figuratively), you're fighting for your (again, literal and figurative) existential rights every.single.day (sob! rally behind me!).

This manifests in different ways, but for someone like Philosophy Tube, or, say, a Joe Lavery, this is their one path from "outsider"* to insider in the Trendy Victim Olympics.

*outsider in quotes because the point is that this particular slice - well-bred, educated, white male "artist/intellectual" (real or posed) - are by birth and breeding the ultimate societal insiders.

He's been making connections for a while out west. I wonder if that had anything to do with it. Then again one of the writers for Cowboy Bebop allegedly put a Contrapoints reference in the show so it could be a fan seeking him out.

I think many of us on the Kiwi Farms often overlook that the last part may be the point. The signal to noise ratio between people just saying the phrase TRANS RIGHTS and what this could possibly mean in some concrete way is like a billion to one or more. Gays had a tangible goal they wanted to achieve, what do trans people have other than narcissism? You can barely get one to ever pin down what they mean on anything, in part because they're afraid the rest will go after them for it.

Somehow he manages to look bad in every single outfit he's worn post-troon, the more feminine the outfit, the worse. In this case, he has almost no tits (or none at all) and there might not be space for him to tuck. He obviously just wants to wear something that the GAMP in him would jerk off to.

He's said before he effectively approaches Brian with fully realised concepts, down to granular detail (so not even "dark gothic evil princess" but "I specifically want a black raven feather collar on this look, and here's some reference photos"). In effect it sounds like he's basically skipping the stylist part and treating Brian as a sort of PA for clothes that can save him time shopping.

There's almost certainly some creative input from Brian purely along the lines of "here's this option", but Brian's mostly working within the limitations of a very low budget (safe in the knowledge that Ollie doesn't really understand clothing or sees himself accurately) and also probably there as a prop to Princess Abi (who loves getting primped and preens).

Brian in this case is phoning it in a bit because he's correctly noticed Ollie gets a boner over latex fetishwear - they went with Dead Lotus couture for his stupid cyberpunk look, and then Brain went back to them for the latex nun look, and now they're looking at latex bikinis. No doubt he's at the point of going "Ollie wants to look sexy in this video, let's see what new shit they've got on the Dead Lotus website, because he's cream over whatever I show him". Although maybe this is just Ollie refreshing his tabs, they're more expensive than he usual Boohoo/Lipsy/PrettyLittleThing fare so he's stretching the budget (this bikini for example is £275/$350).
