I don’t know how long this’ll go. All I can imagine happening is that things will eventually devolve into gang fights along ethnic lines once the rioters are done going against the cops.

As for the future, I can’t see anything changing as long as Macron is in office. He strikes me as a true believer a la Angela Merkel in Germany. So forget a French Donald Trump because from what I’ve seen of the political system there, I have my doubts that we’ll even see a right wing party emerge, let alone one that advocates for things like mass deportations or setting migrants adrift in the Atlantic Ocean. If there was a chance for the right wing to take over, it would have happened when Le Pen was running for president.

Honestly, the only real hope I can think of things changing for the right in France is if things go so bad that there’s no chance things get cleaned up for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, or everything just burns down and some white man just declares a race war against the migrants in a bid to become king of the ashes.
