Even small capacity ones tend to be very slow. There's a lot that can go wrong with USB drives, enough to where if you need a cheap one, you're better off just buying whatever they have at a local store. Walmart sells their own generic-branded ones that are good enough.Never buy a USB memory stick from them, though. Unless it's a very small size (say under 5gb), it could very likely be a hacked USB.
I have an SD card reader that has both a USB-A 3.0 and USB-C end on either side. The USB-A side (normal USB) is actually 2.0 and barely, snugly fits in any of my actual USB ports, and the USB-C port just doesn't work at all. But that's what I use, because I've had horrible luck with SD card readers
