On one hand, it's kind of sad that Warner is still a whole decade behind trying to set up their own cinematic universe even during the twilight of the superhero era, but on the other, they thought that buying puff pieces for a film with a ridiculous story about a character played by a person nobody liked would recoup their losses.

The theories are the next big thing will be movie adaptations of video games, because it's a huge market with plenty of IPs, especially on the back of the relative success of Super Mario and Sonic. The big studios are probably going to take a while to disentangle themselves from their superhero franchises, so hopefully some new people can get a start.

Last I heard, their next big project was a reboot of the Harry Potter franchise. They'll likely fuck that up too by hiring another crap director (like Snyder), giving them a blank check, and failing to background check the actors hired.

I hate that Black Adam is on there. It kinda subverted the capeshit trope and made the capefags look like blundering retarded American world police while the "villain" was an interesting anti-hero who just wanted to defend his home. I assume you meant continue the Ezraverse, but had some sort of fucking stroke while typing. While The Flash was supposed to reset the DCEU, he wasn't necessarily going to be part of it going forward. Before The Flash came out Gunn and some of the execs were asked about, and refused to explicitly rule out, further Ezra shit, but how much of that was genuine vs trying not to tank the film further by announcing that you're not working the the nutter anymore is unknown. Supposedly a Flash 2 script was already written and WB were apparently willing to make it if The Flash had done well enough (the number I heard was $700mil to get the sequel). Pattinson's Batman is continuing anyway, but as a standalone thing under the Elseworlds label. While it's not impossible that they'll try to shoehorn it into the main DCEU continuity if it does well enough/the rebooted DCEU does badly enough, I doubt it.

Slight PL, but I was at a cinema last Saturday and while waiting for the film I was watching to start, I looked and saw who was going to see what. In its third week, The Flash had only one screening and no-one was buying tickets for it. The most popular films seemed to be Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse and Indiana Jones (likely due to its first weekend), yet people were also still watching The Super Mario Bros Movie. Mario and Spiderman seem to have a staying power, possibly because they are popular characters that delivered movies that exceeded expectations.

Also, reading "Ezraverse" somehow makes me think of "Floraverse". Both are focused on genderspecial pedophiles (Ezra Miller and GlitchedPuppet) who pretend to be characters from comics, are verbally abusive towards their own fans, and are backed by the pronoun police defending their actions. Big difference though that Ezra hasn't fucked a dog. As far as I know, that is.
